Steven Sopko Obituary

Steven W. Sopko, 77, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 21, 2023. Born and raised in Cranford, he was a longtime resident of Whitehouse Station. Friends and relatives are invited to visit Friday April 28, 2023, from 2-6 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West, Cranford, N. J. , 07016. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, April 29, 2023, 10 am at St. Michael's Church in Cranford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Mr. Sopko was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served as a draftsman during the Vietnam War. He worked professionally as a purchasing manager for many years in the material science field. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting. He served as a former president of his family's hunting club, "Big Pine Tree". He was also a lover of dogs, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon, in 2007; his parents, Ann and Walter Sopko; and his father-in-law, Charles Frankenberger. Surviving are his beloved daughter, Allison Conti and her husband Gregory; his loving granddaughters, Angelica and Alexandra Conti; his two siblings, Janet Bender and Walter Sopko; his mother-in-law, Alice Frankenberger; brother-in-law Charles Frankenberger, and sister-in-law Penny Santoro; and his nieces and nephew, Tammy McGinty and her husband Brian, Tiffany Frankenberger, Nicholas Santoro and his wife Katie, Jessica Ciavarra and her husband Frank; and many extended family members and friends.
