Steven G Smith DOVER - Steven G "Smitty" Smith, 68, entered into rest at 9:09 a m on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his home He was the treasured husband of Lori, enjoying 20 years of marriage on August 23, 2023, proud father of two sons, Shannon Smith and wife, Sherry of Dover and Kyle Smith and wife, Tabatha of York; beaming grandfather of Richard "Richie" G Smith; and supportive brother to three siblings, Michael Smith and wife, Marie, of York, Cheryl Korte, and David Smith, both of Philadelphia; niece, Vanessa; nephew, Nick; and great nephews, Logan and Danny Born March 22, 1955 in Camp Gordon, Georgia, Steven was a son of the late Richard G and Doris J (Smith) Smith He graduated from West York High School in 1973, eventually working many years as a welder, and was a member of United Steel Workers Local 7687 for 37 years Steve was a handyman and enjoyed woodworking, fast cars, and video games If it broke, he likely could fix it! Always generous with his time, he helped everyone who asked; family, friend, stranger, if he could fix or build something to make their situation better, he did He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers from time to time (the people-owned team) and loved his cats, Zenobia and Buick, dearly He hoped all his pets from his life would be waiting for him on the other side when he got there Treats for everyone! MANCHESTER - Michael J. Geesey, 30, went to be with his Saviour on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the loving and devoted husband of Rachel E. (Damiano) Geesey. The couple celebrated 8 years of marriage on May 30, 2023. Born February 6, 1993 in Zambia, Africa, Michael was the youngest child of Mitch E. and Sharon R. (Howell) Geesey. Starting as a young boy, he looked for ways to quietly serve, care for, or give to others. He attended North York Gospel Chapel and worked as a physical therapy assistant. Michael was a mechanic in his spare time and enjoyed fixing anything. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and four wheelers, as well as hunting. Most of all, he was a proud husband and father who loved his wife and children dearly. In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is survived by his children, Landon and Colette; brother, Daniel Geesey and wife, Hannah and their children, Micah, Adalyne and Peter; sister, Rachelle Swartz and husband, Joe and their daughters, Selah and Tirzah. Following a private burial in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Michael's life at 11:30 a. m. and the visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a. m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at North York Gospel Chapel, 2854 Lewisberry Rd, York 17404. DOVER - LeRoy G. Amspacher, 77, entered into rest at 4:53 p. m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born September 1, 1946, in York, LeRoy was a son of the late Millard and Annabelle (Krebs) Amspacher. He graduated from Red Lion High School and was an auto mechanic by trade. He could fix almost anything and loved sharing his knowledge with others. LeRoy was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and Moose Lodge 3000. He had many collections, the most prominent being his Coca-Cola memorabilia. LeRoy enjoyed life and people, he would often bake for everyone, he was known for peanut butter fudge and sugar cakes. He was a Country music fan and roadie who had the opportunity to meet several now famous artists, as well as visiting the Green Room at the Grand Ole Opry. Traveling and being on the water were also some of LeRoy's many enjoyments. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Terri) L. Foutz and husband, David of Poland, OH; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Grace Anderson and Patricia Gross. LeRoy's wishes were to be cremated. There will be a time to celebrate his life scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. in Dover. DOVER - Kendra L. "Kandy" (Messersmith) Crone, 65, entered into rest at 6:50 a. m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the loving wife of Michael E. Crone. The couple celebrated 42 years of marriage on October 24, 2023. Born February 5, 1958 in York, Kendra was a daughter of the late Dennis L. and Janet E. (Heist) Messersmith. She graduated from West York High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from York College. While there, she sang with the Magical Singers. Kendra worked as an art teacher for York area homeschoolers and had been a school van driver for F& S Transportation. She also owned and operated Petals of Love by Kandy for a few years, a result of her love for flower arranging and decorating. Kendra was a member of Eastside Assembly of God in York where she enjoyed sharing her singing talents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Amber L. Baines and husband, Chris of Dayton, TN, William M. Crone and wife, Heather and Zachary Crone, all of Dover; three grandchildren, Dakota, Brice and Gracie; and her brother, Dennis L. Messersmith, Jr. of York. DOVER - Glenn Julius, 102, entered into rest on Saturday afternoon, November 11, 2023, at his home. He was the husband of the late Grace L. (King) Julius with whom he shared 71 years of marriage. Born August 25, 1921, at Mulberry in Washington Township, Glenn was a son of the late Rufus M. and Mabel (Harlacker) Julius. At the age of 5, he started school at Airy Hill, a one-room school. After graduating in 1937 from Dover High School at the age of 15, Glenn went to work on his father's farm. He worked one winter as a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad and worked several years in heavy construction. In 1942, Glenn enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Force, eventually earned the rank of Sergeant, and served in England, France and Holland during World War II. After being honorably discharged, Glenn returned to farming, and was active on the farm into his nineties. He was still riding his four-wheeler on his 102 birthday. He enjoyed traveling with Grace and visited 49 states. Their trips were often to Army reunions in various locations. In his later years he was a loving care giver to his wife. He loved farming with his sons and grandsons and was especially proud of his grandsons' work ethic and accomplishments in school and professions. He enjoyed delivering hay for over 40 years to customers in Lancaster County, many times with his young grandsons, which often included several stops at McDonalds. He was an active lifetime member of Bermudian Church of the Brethren. In 1950, Glenn was elected to ministry at the church and was ordained in 1952. He continued to be one of the Bermudian ministers until a pastor was hired. Glenn was a strong leader, pillar, and patriarch of the Bermudian Church family, also having served as a board member, Sunday school teacher and church historian. He gave many tours of the local church and family history. Glenn is survived by two sons, David L. Julius of Dover and Galen M. Julius and wife, Marilyn of East Berlin; three grandsons, Collin Julius and wife, Laura, Dustin Julius and wife, Renee and Ean Julius and wife, Morgan; three great grandchildren, Peter, Leo and Molly, with one on the way; and a brother, Donald Julius of Dover. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Julius Houseal and three brothers, John, William, and Paul Julius. Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the service to celebrate Glenn's life at 3 p. m. and the visitation from 2 to 3 p. m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Bermudian Church, 279 Bermudian Church Rd. , East Berlin. Officiating will be his pastor, Gary Firster and former pastor, Larry Dentler. Interment will follow in Bermudian Church Cemetery. JoAnn A. Bowers DOVER - JoAnn A. (Miller) Bowers, 87, entered into rest Tuesday evening, November 7, 2023 at her home. She was the loving wife of Robert D. Bowers. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage on September 1, 2023. Born August 16, 1936 in Dover Township, JoAnn was a daughter of the late Curtis R. Miller and Ruth M. (Flohr) Miller Warnecke. She graduated from Dover High School in 1954 and attended Millersville University. JoAnn had 25 years of service for York Hospital where she was a registered medical technician. She previously worked at Lancaster General Hospital. JoAnn was an active member of Dover Bethany Church where she taught Youth Sunday School and Bible School, was a part of the Helping Hands ministry and also was a Stephen Minister. She enjoyed reading, rose gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, JoAnn is survived by her children, Brian A. Bowers and wife, Terri of Tampa, FL, Bret A. Bowers and wife, Connie of Langley, WA, and Brina A. Peifer of Dover; three grandsons, Christopher and Alexander Bowers and Cole Peifer; two brothers, John Miller and wife, Sandra of Eureka, CA and Jay Miller and wife, Lauren of Big Canoe, GA; and sister, Jeanne Golden and husband, Larry of Odessa, FL. DOVER - Randolph W. "Randy" Worley, 83, entered into rest Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was the loving husband of Judith A. (Rile) Worley. The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 29, 2023. Born June 5, 1940 in Dover, Randy was a son of the late Kurvin and Iva (Moore) Worley. He graduated from Dover High School in 1958 and joined the United States Air Force, retiring in 1979 after 21 years of service. Randy attended Mt. Royal U. M. Church, Dover. He was a member of the Dover Historical Society and volunteered at the Blacksmith Shop at Alda Ketterman Park in Dover. He enjoyed his career in the U. S. Air Force, traveling, camping and model trains. Randy visited nearly every state in the United States as well as Newfoundland, Okinawa, Thailand and Germany. In addition to his wife, Randy is survived by three sons, Steve Worley and wife, Tracy, Bill Worley and wife, Amy and Jim Worley and wife, Megan; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Donald and Maxine Worley and Nancy Leber. Following cremation, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
