Pearl Whelpley, of New LothropDied on November 29, 2023 at the Meadows of Owosso, at the age of 97. Pearl was born to Joseph Polak and Anna (Lichota) on May 10, 1926 in Muskegon Michigan. She graduated from Muskegon high school in 1944 and attended Muskegon junior college while working in the office at sealed power corporation. Following her time at Muskegon College, she married Thomas A. Whelpley on April 30, 1948. Together they had three children while living in Muskegon. Several years after her husband became a licensed funeral Director, they bought the O'Hare Funeral Home in New Lothrop, Michigan and moved there. Pearl helped her husband with the business which was renamed Whelpley Funeral Home, she also served as a local news correspondent for the Argus-Press for eight years. She worked many years as a church secretary for the new Lothrop and Juddville United Methodist Church's and 18 years for the Montrose United Methodist Church. Pearl was also the secretary of the church administrative Council for many years and was an active member of the United Methodist women and Lioness club. Pearl is survived by her daughter Susan (William) Vos of Salinas, CA. , and her son, Patrick (Connie) Whelpley of Lake, Mi: Grandchildren, Crystal, Amber, Amy and Nathan of CA, Elizabeth of TN, Christine of Corunna: great grandchildren, Christian, Joshua, Trevor, Hunter, Skyblue, Violet Rose, Sunnyblue, Kendall, Molly, Darling and Izadora of CA, Camryn and Brooks of Mi: Great Great grandchildren Conner and Jhet of Hi: also Sister, Josephine DeClaire of Lacey WA who turned 100 years young this year. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas, her parents, and sisters; Mary Lasser and Kathryn Polak; and her son, Jon Whelpley. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11 AM, at New Lothrop United Methodist Church, in New Lothrop. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial of ashes will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery at 11 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the new Lothrop, United Methodist Church, in honor of Pearl.Show more

Dennis Duane JenkinsAge 80 of Corunna was received into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at MemorialHealthcare in Owosso. Denny was born October 4, 1942 in Durand Michigan, to Althea (Hammond) Jenkins and adoptive fatherLyle Jenkins. Denny was recently embraced by his newly discovered family who never stopped searchingfor him - the Black Family. He married Margaret Furister in Owosso on July 22, 1963. He graduated from Corunna High School, class of 1960, and served in the U. S. Army. At 28-1/2 years ofservice in Quality Control, he retired from General Motors. He enjoyed the 17 years he and Margo livedin Florida but his heart always stayed with the University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers, and his family. Denny enjoyed studying the Bible, talking about his faith and playing softball. Denny is quoted as saying"the ultimate success in my life is having Jesus as my Lord, and Margo as my wife". He was an activemember at the First Church of the Nazarene. Denny is survived by his most beloved wife of 60 years, Margo (Furister) Jenkins; three children, Lisa(Donnie Ray) Maddox, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Confer, and Chris Jenkins; his sister, Marilyn Lagrange; manygrandchildren, and uncle William Black, nieces and nephews, 42 first cousins; an abundance of otherloving family members, and many many dear friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 27 th at 2:00 p. m. at Owosso First Church of theNazarene with Mark Greene officiating. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 12:00-2:00 p. m. A luncheon will follow the service.Show more

Obituary for LeAnn (Crowe) BirchmeierAge 57, of New Lothrop, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. LeAnn was employed by Dr. JM Vachhani (Surgical Associates) and Memorial Healthcare for 28 years as a medical assistant prior to her illness. LeAnn was always game for any adventure and loved being part of any celebration, but especially loved going to Florida enjoying the warmth, sunshine, and sandy beaches. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was so proud of both of her children--Charleigh and Brady. LeAnn was a great storyteller and always had a smile on her face, kind heart, and gave so much love to everyone around her. Even when she didn't feel great, she loved having people overand would fill Tim in on her day and visitors. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael Church-Maple Grove in New Lothrop, Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. The Fr. John Cotter will officiate the service with burial at St. Michael's Cemetery. There will also be a funeral luncheon at St. Michael's Gymnasium following the cemetery service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00-8:00 p. m. and Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 2:00-8:00 p. m. with the Rosary being said at 7:00 p. m. at Nelson Funeral Home for all her family and friends. Additionally, family and friends will also be available prior to the service at St. Michael's Church from 10:00-11:00 a. m. on Friday. LeAnn was born in Owosso, January 20, 1966, the daughter of Charlie and Clara (Thompson) Crowe. She was a graduate of Corunna Public Schools, class of 1984 and resided most of her life in New Lothrop . She and Tim Birchmeier were married, October 27, 1990, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Owosso. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Survivors include: Her husband, Tim; her daughter Charleigh (fiance Jacob Sprague); her son Brady (girlfriend Vica Potter); three sisters, Kelly Smith of Cadillac; Denise (Pat) Bannan of Owosso; Pam (Ed) Bennett of Chesaning; one brother, Troy (Annie) Crowe of Corunna; mother-in-law, Judy Birchmeier of New Lothrop; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Tammy (John) Copes of New Lothrop; Tony (Mary) Birchmeier of St. Johns; Ernie Birchmeier, Jr. of New Lothrop; Teri (Bob) Symons of Chesaning; Troy (Christi) Birchmeier of New Lothrop; Ted (Tracy) Birchmeier of Chesaning; Tom (Kim) Birchmeier of Montrose; Todd (Leslie) Birchmeier of Durand; Torey (Shawna) Birchmeier of New Lothrop; several nieces , nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and special friends Andy and Lisa Wolford of New Lothrop.
