Thomas Joseph Maccari, 82, passed away on Sunday, February 18th, 2024 after a short illness at JFK Hospital in Edison, New Jersey. Born in Brooklyn to Anthony and Sabina Maccari, he moved to New Jersey with his wife in the 1970s.After high school Tom served in the United States Army and then went on to study at Baruch College where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration.Tom was the Vice President of Production for Queens Litho in Edison until his retirement 30 years ago. During his retirement Tom was able to follow his passions for golf, racing, and the New York Yankees.Tom is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose, their son James; brothers, Anthony, and William; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.Extended family and friends may gather at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave Fanwood, on Thursday, February 22nd from 4pm to 8pm. A Mass will be held on Friday, February 23rd at 11am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1571 Martine Ave, Scotch Plains. Jeffrey DeChellis, 62, of Middlesex, NJ, passed away on February 14, 2024, in Edison NJ. He was born August 9, 1961, in Plainfield, NJ. Jeff started his career while in high school volunteering for the Westfield Rescue Squad in 1978. Over the years, he pursued his passion for healthcare, becoming a Respiratory Therapy Technician in 1982 and obtaining his paramedic Certificate in July 1983. While working part-time at Overlook Hospital, Jeff proudly Co-Owned Union Plumbing Supply alongside his father. He also served in various roles throughout the years, including teaching CPR and ACLS classes, he was a proud Flight Paramedic for the newly created Air Transport Program, AirMed One, and later was a clinical coordinator at Somerset Medical Center and JFK Medical Center. In his later years, he worked as a paramedic and flight medic at Atlantic Health Systems. In 2013, Jeff and Gene Mayer became the first same-sex couple in Middlesex to legally marry. Predeceased by his mother, Joan (nee Brown) DeChellis, and father, Anthony J DeChellis, Jeff is survived by his husband Gene Mayer and his children, Meagan, Carolanne, Michelle, and Brady Mayer-DeChellis. He will also be missed by his siblings, along with a host of extended relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Thursday, February 22, from 4 PM to 8 PM. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Following a private cremation, burial will take place at Lake Nelson Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ.

Sue Chia, 74, of Edison, passed away on Saturday February 17, 2024 at home surrounded by her family after an 8-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Sue loved to cook, sing, and travel. She was a force to be reckoned with, but had a warm smile and even bigger heart and brought joy to all the lives she touched.Born in Suzhou China (2nd of 5 children) and grew up in Keelung Taiwan. She studied Nutrition at Wenhua University. During college, she met her husband Shian Chen and married in 1977, then immigrated to the United States.Sue graduated from City College of New York (CUNY) with a masters in computer science and joined AT&T until an early retirement in 2001.After retirement, Sue devoted herself to her church (Rutgers Community Christian Church, Somerset) and served as a choir member, cell group advisor, class teacher, as well as joining many short term mission trips. She supported church members with food, transportation, a loving heart and a listening ear.During her pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in mid-2023, Sue fell and broke her hip. Shortly after the surgery in July, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She received an outpouring of love from her church and community with support, prayer, and loving meals during her battle.Sue is survived by her husband, 2 sons (Vincent Chia and Victor Chia of Edison), and her beloved granddog, Loki. She is also survived by her 2 younger sisters and younger brother, as well as many nieces and nephews.The viewing will be on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4 to 8pm at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. Metuchen NJ 08840.  The Memorial Service is planned to take place Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2pm at Rutgers Community Church, Building A, 71 Cedar Grove Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873. ( Services will be primarily in Chinese)
