Johnnie Glendora Edwards, 93 went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2024. She was born to John and Elsie Thompson on February 17, 1931 in Grand Bay, Alabama. She had a large extended family who affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Bug” due to her nickname Lady Bug. Glendora was a true “Southern Bell” with the biggest smile, a compassionate heart and loved to care for others. She was a simple humble woman that was thankful for everything she had. She loved to cook for others especially her family and went to work for the Mojave School District for many years. After that she owned her own restaurant and continued doing what she loved. Glendora loved traveling, and was always ready for an adventure, she loved talking about her childhood days with her parents and siblings, enjoyed quilting, getting her hands dirty in the garden and taking care of her family and enjoying the holidays with her family and friends. Glendora is preceded in death by her husband Bill Edwards and 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by two sisters Jessie and Jane, her 4 children Enoch Strahan (Charlotte), Wendell Strahan (Teri), Mark Strahan (Lori) Denise Crenshaw (Greg)., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren (5 generations). Frank Homer Adams

Frank Homer Adams, age 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in his home in Bakersfield, California surrounded by his family after a 24-year valiant fight against multiple cancers. But cancer didn’t win because he is alive and well with his Savior. Frank was born on March 2, 1938, in Meadville, Pennsylvania to Louis Marion and Margaret Mae Adams. He attended Saegertown United Methodist Church and graduated from Saegertown Junior Senior High School. He joined the United States Army in 1958 as a Mechanical Repairman stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama and promoted to Guided Missiles. Frank was proud of his service to his country. Frank met the love of his life Donna Marie Curran at the A&W in Corpus Christi, Texas. They married on June 16, 1968, and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2023. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 33 and began a lifelong journey of raising a family that served the Lord. His greatest love was Jesus Christ. Frank was a soul winner, led several devotional classes, was involved heavily in missions, and coordinated the “Faith” program at Daybreak Baptist Church. He was a bible mentor to anyone who would listen. He wanted to make sure everyone had met his Jesus. Frank began working for Coastal Oil Refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas and transferred to Fairfield, California in 1976. In 1982, he began his career at the Bakersfield Refinery with IVEC Petroleum, Paramount Petroleum, Texaco, Equilon, and Shell where he retired as a Safety Supervisor. As an employee of Equilon, Bakersfield Refining Company, Frank rendered his operational services to the start-up of the largest delayed coking plant in the world at Reliance Petroleum Ltd in Jamnagar, India. He received multiple accolades throughout his 50 plus years of service in the oil industry. Frank was known for his love of God and his family. He was a quiet, gentle soul with a compassionate heart. He had an infectious laugh that brought joy to everyone around him. Frank is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Margaret Adams, sisters Florence Adams, Ruth Allison Everson and Ginny DeRemer, and daughter Merendia Kay Daniel. Frank leaves behind his beautiful wife of over 55 years, Donna Marie, children Teresa Lynn (Larry) Frost of Huntsville, Alabama, Marion Frank (Shari) Adams of Grant, Alabama, Jerry Raymond (Melissa) Adams of Hazel Green, Alabama, Tammy Denise Adams of Bakersfield, California, Tina DeLynn (Gilbert) Carmona of Bakersfield, California, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren (with 3 due in May) and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters Kathy Kerecman of Dothan, AL and Jeanie (Dave) Stearns of Saegertown, PA. along with numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Daybreak Baptist Church, 5446 Taft Highway, Bakersfield, California, 93313.
