Sterling Griffie Range, of Zion Illinois, passed away August 31, 2023 in Waukegan Illinois. He was born February 14, 1983 to parents Abba and Marvin Range. Sterling was a kind and humble young soul who was quick to help anyone in need. He was strong-willed, respectable, and a jokester. Sterling was the embodiment of the age of decadence; he relished in revisiting 80's movies, music, and culture. He had a deep love of cars and the feel of the open air while riding a motorcycle or a scooter. He had a passion for law enforcement and security. Throughout his life, he was awarded and recognized for his excellence in customer service, his duty, and his generosity. He was working towards a career in law enforcement when he passed. While doing that, he also deejayed for local parties and graduations. Sterling absolutely loved WWE, the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed eating good food of all kinds. Sterling was deeply devoted to his church, Our Lady of Humility. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the church choir. He is survived by his beloved mother whom he adored, Abba Range, older sister,Teresa Range-Eca (Robert Eca) of Illinois, middle sister, Lori Langford (Victor Langford) of Arizona, and youngest sister, Pamela Hammon (Lyle Hammon) of California, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Range. His absence is deeply felt in the hearts of his surviving family and friends. Sterling was often the glue that held the family together, the mediator, or the calm presence in a storm. His laughter was contagious, and could light up a room. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday September 13, 2023 from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan road Zion, Illinois 6009 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a. m. at Congdon Funeral Home.

Donna Mae Box, 84, Said "Good night Sweet dreams" to this earthly life and entered into Eternal Peace on November 12, 2023 Donna was born on October 16. 1939 to Ruth and Arthur Marcelain. She was the second born of 5 beautiful daughters. She grew up and attended school in Waukegan, Illinois where she fell in love and married Bobby Box. Together they raised 5 beautiful children of their own. Donna's family was her world. She dedicated her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as "Ma Box" to many neighborhood kids who knew that her heart, home and refrigerator were always open to them. When her life took a turn, she held several jobs working tirelessly to support her family. She was a hard worker and a tenacious resourceful woman. Her favorite jobs were the ones where she got to help people. She was warm, generous and would do anything for anyone. In her spare time Donna enjoyed fishing and camping with her life partner of 30 + years, Larry and Friday nights at Quonset. In her younger years, she loved cooking family dinners with her kids and grandkids, going the beach, roller skating at the Waukegan Roller Rink, cruising in her MGB convertible, racing in Waukegan speedway's powder puff derby,( where she took the 3 spot!) doing jigsaw puzzles and cheering wildly for her Chicago Cubbies! Donna had a feisty side and was unapologetically genuine. She fought hard and loved harder. She was brave, strong, fierce, fun, full of light and love. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. We were blessed to have her in our lives. She will forever remain in our hearts and will be missed every day. Donna was welcomed to heaven by the following family members who have gone before her; her parents, Ruth and Arthur Marcelain; husband of 20 plus years, Bobby Box; sister, Bette Kidd; son in law, James Chumbley; grandson, Tyler Henken and her life partner, Larry Vasquez joined her on November 14 She is survived by her sisters; Arthrene Plumbley, Sondra Lewin and Linda Morphew; children, Denese Pasko, Lynette (Joseph) Upham, Michelle Chumbley, Tracy (David) Henken and Joseph (Ginger) Box; grandchildren, Selina, Britni, Maxx, Nikki, Nate, Justin, Amanda, Michael, Cody, Courtney, Peyton, Zoe and Joey; many great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends. Paul Howard Miner 78, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 12:10 p. m. , Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. A service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Monday, November 13, 2023, in the Sullivan First United Methodist Church, Sullivan, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday Afternoon, from 5:00 p. m. until 7:00p. m. , November 12, 2023, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, IL. Burial will be in the Mt. Paul was born October 18, 1945, in Clinton, IL the son of Dale and Emma (Keene) Miner. Paul married Linda M. (Wright) Westerfield on June 25, 1989. He had been currently working as a transportation driver for Hertz Rental Car. Paul owned and operated Prairieland Photography. He was a member of the Sullivan First United Methodist Church. Paul and was a member of the Decatur Computer Club and volunteered for ten years with St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. He also enjoyed studying and researching family genealogy, traveling, and attending southern gospel concerts with his wife and family. Surviving is his wife: Linda of Mt. Zion; children: Mark Miner (Marcie) of Cooks Mills, IL, Clarissa Mouley of Mattoon, IL, Brian Miner of Mattoon, IL, Lisa Bundy of Clinton, IL, Brad Westerfield (Toni) of Decatur, IL, Jason Westerfield (Carissa) of Decatur, IL, Juliane Westerfield of Mt. Zion, IL Chris Westerfield (Heather) of Decatur, IL and Melissa Riggs (Nate) of Mt. Zion, IL; brother: Leo Miner (Linda) of Zephyrhills, FL; twenty-five grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister: Pauline Julia Adams, sons: Brian Westerfield and Aaron Westerfield; grandchildren: Makaila Westerfield, Timothy Westerfield, and Todd Schroat. Arthur B. "Pete" Gilson II, 88, of Blue Mound, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at DMH. Pete was born December 1, 1934, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Arthur B. and Margaret E. (Roach) Gilson. Pete married Joyce Rudin in Springfield. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Reserve during the Korean War. Pete retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad after 43 years. He was a member of the Meridian Community Church of God and enjoyed golf, running and spending time with family and friends. Pete is survived by his children Sandra Byard (Matt Edwards) and Arthur B. "Pete" (Annette) Gilson III, brother John Gilson, sisters Peggy (Jim) Blakely and Teena (Ron) Jockisch, grandchildren Nicole Byard, Drake Byard, Natalie (Will) Gibson, Macaela Gilson, Hannah (Brent) Headrick, and Lydia Gilson, and great-grandchildren Nora and Hazel Byard, Gabriella Holder, Maggie and Wilder Gibson as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Nancy Gillespie. Martha Ann Mitchell was born on July 14, 1930 and passed peacefully on October 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. Marty graduated from Topeka High School in 1949. She married Roy Berry in August, 1949 and they shared 46 years together. A highlight of their early years together was working on the Potawatomie Indian Reservation in Mayetta, Kansas. As a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, she dedicated 51 years to teaching and coaching swimming to multiple generations. She taught her last student at age 89. Marty spent 18 years copying braille books for the blind. She and her husband taught line dancing for the Zion Park District and the Ambassador Club. From the age of 13, she loved singing in church choirs. Marty leaves behind six children - Jane Berry, Judy (Randy) Shay, Ed (Jeanne) Berry, Dave Berry, Sue (Mike) Jaworek, Carol (Louie) Jaskulka. She is also survived by six grandchildren - Laurie (Jim) Haulenbeek, Frank (Barbara) Koski, Jackie (Wes) Whitten, Jenny Jaworek, Wayne (Tabitha) Jaworek, Joshua Jaskulka and five great-grandchildren - Sean Whitten, Katie Koski, Ayla Haulenbeek, Steven Jaworek, Cayden Jaworek. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother, husband Roy, and her granddaughter Anna Faith. Gloria Enid Munji, beloved matriarch atop a vibrant family tree, baker, crafter, reader and traveler, died Tuesday, October 10, at home with her devoted husband, Benigno Munji. She was 65 years old. Gloria grew up in Waukegan, the eldest of four daughters born to Isabel Luisa Garcia and Manuel Garcia Garcia. She spent much of her adult life calling Winthrop Harbor home, but also lived in Seattle and the Philippines. Gloria met her husband, Ben, at the Great Lakes Naval Base in 1978. They quickly recognized each other as soulmates and forged a love that has carried their merged family through three generations over 45 years. Gloria is the mother of Lisette, Charity, Carlos, Michele and Beno; grandmother of Dominique, Tre, Chance, Jett, Carlos, Adrian, Christian, Junior, IsaBella, Angel, Ben, Evelyn, Hazel and Rose; and great-grandmother of Zion. She was a strong, loving and nurturing presence in the lives of not only her children and grandchildren, but her nieces and nephews on the Garcia and Munji sides who knew her as Titi, or Tita, Glo. She loved creating delicious and beautiful things for others - elaborate desserts, jewelry, embroidery, and more. She did a unique art or craft with each of her grandchildren, giving each one something special to share with her. Gloria and Ben, both born on the 13 th of their respective birth months, eagerly awaited every Friday the 13 th . They doted on each other and loved each other deeply. Together, they traveled the world, exploring or visiting family in Washington, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Texas, Tennessee, Western New York, London, Canada and The Philippines. Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her sister Isabel Maria Colclough and brother-in-law Jack Colclough. The community is invited to join the family for a wake from 4-7 p. m. on Friday, the 13 th of October, at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, in Zion. ELIZABETH A. MYERS It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Elizabeth A. Myers, also known as Betty, on October 10, 2023 at the age of 80. Betty was a beloved lifelong resident of Zion, IL, and married her teenage sweetheart Jerrid Myers in 1961. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years, 62 of which they were happily married. Betty worked as the Electronics Manager at Kmart for many years before retiring. She was a proud mother, a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, and enjoyed indulging in pumpkin ice cream. Betty also loved spending time with her family, getting her hair and nails done, and, above all, her faith in God. Betty was a social butterfly who made friends easily and touched the hearts of many. She was wellknown in her community for her many years as a crossing guard on Herman Ave & 173, as well as her time spent as the Cub Scouts Den Mother. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones. Betty is survived by her husband Jerrid Myers; her son Thomas (Gina) Myers of Zion, IL; and her grandsons, Justin (Christina) Myers of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Tyler Crawford of MN. She is also survived by her brothers, William (Nancy) White of Waukegan, IL, and Buster (Julie) White of Beach Park, IL, as well as her sister-in-law Virginia (Ginny) Adams of Zion, IL. Betty was blessed with great-grandchildren Aya, Jerrid, and Gene Myers, and her long time friends Jerry and Carol Cooper of FL. She had many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews all over the country. Betty enjoyed talking and teasing her grandsons Roy (Nicole) Fields of ID, Devin (Janelle) Fields of AZ, her granddaughter Nicole Fields of AZ, and her 6 great-grandchildren in Arizona. Her parents, Hugh & Verna White of Zion, IL preceded Betty in death. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her.
