Graveside services with military honors for Stephen Allen Nida, 76, are scheduled for 10:00 a. m. Monday, October 9 at the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery. The son of late Orville Jackson and Loma Mae Sellards Nida, Stephen was born October 8, 1946 in Charleston, West Virgina and passed way on September 30 2023. He served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1978. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He is survived by his son Stephen Nida Jr. ; a brother Roger Nida, nieces and nephews. ObituaryWendell "Little" MarrisThe son of the late Leonard Marris and Florene (Jefferson) Marris, Wendell was born on July 10, 1969 in Lawton, Oklahoma and passed away on October 2, 2023 in a Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 22 days. A life-long Ardmore resident, Wendell graduated from Ardmore High School in the class of 1988. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1988 and was honorably discharged in 1995. He received the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star-3, Kuwait Liberation Medal and Overseas Service Medal. Wendell had worked as a meter reader and truck driver for SOWC. In his leisure time he played and coached softball, his crazy Native Team, which was an all men's fast-pitch team. He was an avid OU and Dallas Cowboys Football fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandbaby. Survivors include his wife LaWanda of the home; daughters, Ashton Marris and Alexis Allison; granddaughter, his precious Serena Lynne; and his fur baby Rufus James; brothers, Arlie Marris and wife Jackie, Tony Marris, Phil Marris and wife Mary, twin brother, Kendall Marris and wife Cassandra; sisters, Stefanie Brown and husband Edward and Latisha Royal; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; brothers, Darrell, Jonathan, Harry, Roger and Lani Marris; sisters, Priscilla, Lisa and Tammy Marris. Funeral service for Wendell "Little" Marris will be 2:00 p. m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Ron Fleming and Pastor Steve Wall officiating. Interment will follow at the McAlister Cemetery with the assistance of Eddie Munoz, John Stanley, Mike Joe, Corey Green, Corey "Boo" Green and Marvin Green assisting as pallbearers. He was a resident of Southern Oklahoma all his life, Terry graduated fromMarietta High School, 1995. He worked for Smith Construction and thenOklahoma Department of Transportation. After 25 years of loyal and dedicatedservice with ODOT, he medically retired August 2023. In his leisure time heenjoyed traveling, camping, buying equipment, cattle, working on his farm, andchasing his chosen "kiddos", there was always something happening. While Terry andRhonda did not have children of their own, they were parents all the same. Theirhome was a haven for kids old and young. Terry himself was the biggest kid atheart. His many sayings, antics and laughter will be forever remembered by thosethat loved him. Terry was as dependable and loyal as they come in every aspect of his life fromstart to finish. He was your first call in a pinch and never failed to save the day. Hehad an incredible sense of humor, and was always up for a good prank or joke. Clara Aasland WilliamsenMay 30 1930-November 1 2023Clara was born in Chicago to Harald and Tora Aasland (Skjeveland). In the 1930s her immigrant family returned to Norway, returning to the USA after the Nazis occupied their farm and turned it ant a key airfield. Clara joined the Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean conflict. She graduated from San Jose State University. Clara married Vern G. Williamsen in 1959 and they had two daughters, Amy and Tora. The family spent time traveling throughout the USA and lived in both Spain and Mexico. Clara was an archivist at Mizzou and was meticulous in her record-keeping and research. Her true life's work though, was raising her family. Clara did not judge people by color, creed, sexual orientation, occupation, class or any other characteristic. She made friends with people everywhere she went from housekeepers to the President of Panama. Her strength of will and character brought her through many health battles. She was famously direct and plain spoken. She is survived by her daughter, Tora Williamsen-Berry and John D Berry of Tucson and grandsons Pablo Berry-Williamsen of Calera, OK and Erik Ceron of Tucson, AZ as well as goddaughter Catherine Baron. She was predeceased by her daughter Amy in 2019. Clara will be put to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Funeral services for Glenn Allen Payne, Sr. , 86, will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2:00 p. m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army Honor Team. A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Glenn was born August 2, 1937 at Berwyn, Gene Autry, Oklahoma, the son of the late Theodore and Kathryn "Katie" Cowan Payne. He passed away on October 27, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. Glenn married the former Shirley Ruth Hays on November 16, 1958 in Ardmore and she preceded him in death December 15, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his sister Lahoma Fosbury and brother Cecil Carmack. Glenn graduated from Berwyn High School in 1955. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He began his postal career in 1956 and retired as Postmaster at Springer in October of 1992. Glenn enjoyed the company of his family and friends, telling stories and sharing memories. He was a lifelong resident of the area, where he ranched and tended to his land and cattle. Glenn also enjoyed the great outdoors fishing and hunting for pheasants and deer. He is survived by his son Glenn Payne Jr. ; grandson, Glenn Payne III and wife Hayley; granddaughter, Amber Nicole Payne and significant other Trey Willoughby and his great grandson Miles Oliver Payne and a future great granddaughter Andersyn "Andy" Willoughby. Serving as bearers will be Richard Reno, Danny Hays, David Wayne Hays, T. J. Williamson, Dustin Turpin and Casey Jones. Lawrence Ray was born to Floyd Sr. and Helen McGee on April 3, 1956, in San Francisco, California, and was called home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2023. Lawrence joined church at an early ahe to Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ardmore, Ok. He was a dedicated Christian from an early age. He would get himself up early every Sunday morning to attend. He didn't need any encouragement from anyone else to get up because he knew who he wanted to serve. Lawrence attended Ardmore City Schools, where he was an avid athlete. He was involved in football and ran track. He was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He graduated in 1975. On September 14, 1979, he married Sharon Pickens and acquired his daughter Tiffany, that he raised like his own, and to their union Lawrence McGee Jr was born. After his union to Sharon, he united with the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer, sang in the choir and served on the usher board. Lawrence's infectious smile was how he greeted everyone that he came in contact with. He never met a stranger. Lawrence worked at Colvert Dairy for two years and worked for Michelin where he retired after 30 years. He was currently employed with Ardmore City Schools. Lawrence enjoyed watching football, track and cowboy pictures on tv. He spent most of his time watching his grandkids play sports and playing games on his phone. He loved to grill and was often asked by members of the church to grill one of his famous briskets. Lawrence was preceded in death by his son Lawrence R. McGee Jr. , both of his parents, and maternal grandmother Ellen Williams and great aunt Virginia Washington. Lawrence is survived by his wife Sharon of the home, a daughter Tiffany Newberry and two sons, Shrodric McGee and Mario Dawkins (Arlington, Tx). Lawrence also raised granddaughter Ayreanna McGee and helped to raise grandkids Aaron Newberry and Aareon Walker. Lawrence leaves to forever cherish his memories five brothers. Floyd (Velma)McGee, Charles (Estoria)McGee, James McGee, Ronald McGee and Gary (Kristie) McGee. Two sisters LeeAnn Davis (Dewayne) and Virginia (Craig) Ellis. Lawrence also leaves to cherish his memories 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, as well as close family in California. Pallbearers will be: Mario Dawkins, Carmalle McGee, Evan McGee, Mario Dawkins, Jr. , TyQwan McGee, Josh McGee, Ryan Godwin and Dion Godwin. Flower bearers will be: Granddaughters and Nieces. Home Going Celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Jehovah Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Jehovah Cemetery.
