"Stephen Thomas Mckallagat, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away suddenly after a short illness, on Saturday, May 6th at his home in Methuen, with family at his side. He was 75. He was born in Lawrence on June 15th, 1947, to the late Barbara (Brown) Mckallagat, and Daniel Leo Mckallagat Sr, Stephen was a lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley area, and later Lighthouse Point, FL, an area he loved to spend the winters. Stephen was a devoted and loving husband of 57 years to Patricia (Moriarty) Mckallagat. He loved to say that his wife Patty was the luckiest woman on earth, because she hit the lottery the day that they married! Patty may say that that is up for discussion! Some of his happiest times were spending time with beloved granddaughters Casey and Aliya, and also frequenting local restaurants with family and friends here and in Florida. He attended Deerfield Academy and Lawrence High School, and worked for many years for the city of Lawrence in the water department and later Health Inspectional Services. Stephen held a deep admiration and appreciation for the Methuen Fire Department, being so proud of his late son Patrick's time serving with them. He was blessed throughout his lifetime with many dear and devoted friends, some the most treasured being his seven siblings. Stephen leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Moriarty) Mckallagat, of Methuen, sons; S. Mark Mckallagat, of Lawrence, Shaun Patrick Mckallagat and his wife Paula (Miller) Mckallagat, of Methuen, and the late Patrick Michael Mckallagat, of Methuen. Grandchildren Casey Mckallagat, and Aliya Mckallagat. Brothers: Peter and his wife Louise, Danny and his wife Nancy, David and his wife Joyce, Paul and his wife Janet, and Jay and his wife Sera. Sisters: Bambi Mckallagat, and Bari Garceau and her husband Michael. Brother-in-law Billy Moriarty and his wife Frannie, sister-in-law Colleen Junget and her husband Francis. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. who he loved so much.
