Maria Harper, born Maria Ann Ferrari, left us to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 83. Maria was born on December 4, 1940 in New York, NY to Robert and Eugenia Ferrari. As a young girl, she attended Our Savior’s School and then Walton High School, both in Bronx, NY. In 1963 she moved to Clifton, NJ with her husband and two daughters. In 1969 she gave birth to her son, before relocating to Jasper, FL in 1980. Maria spent much of her time in Jasper working for the Madison Correctional Institution. Then after retiring, in 2015 she moved to Lake City, FL where she volunteered at The Hospice Attic. Maria loved her family and is survived by her daughters Ann Marie Zaremba and Debbie Saft and her son in law Mark Zaremba and her daughter in law Josephine Restuccia. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Mark Zaremba and his wife Ashley, Nicole Saft, Danielle Rebisz and her husband Eric, Michael Saft and his wife Ariane, and Hannah and Joshua Restuccia. She was also blessed with nine great grandchildren. Maria was preceded in death by her son Christopher who passed away in 2009 from esophageal cancer. Since living in Lake City, Maria has been a faithful member of The First Presbyterian Church of Lake City. Maria lived a full and vibrant life, right until the end, when she lost her battle with lung cancer. With friends she loved to attend dances, bowl, and play cards, Bunco and Bingo. In her spare time she enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles, completing word puzzles, reading and cooking. There will be a viewing, a memorial service, and a reception to follow at The First Presbyterian Church of Lake City on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Dwight Emory Boozer, 57, Assistant Fire Chief of Lake City Fire Department, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. He was a life-long resident of Lake City, born on May 15, 1966 to Patricia Ann Wattles Boozer and the late Emory Lamar Boozer. He loved working with the Fire Department and served for over 33 years with the Lake City Fire Department. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Lamar Boozer and his brother-in-law, Norman Thearl. He is survived by his children, William Jakob Boozer (Marilee), Joshua Luke Boozer and Julie Renee Boozer all of Lake City; mother, Pat Boozer of Lake City; his two siblings, David Boozer (Lonnie) and Wanda Thearl both of Lake City. His two grandchildren, Amelia Jane Boozer and Leilah Joy Boozer both of Lake City; along with extended family, friends and his Fire Department family also survive. A funeral service for Assistant Chief Boozer will be conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Christian Fellowship Church, 5037 SW County Road 240, Lake City, FL, 32024, with Pastor Lonnie Johns of Christ Central officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Lake City Fire Department.

Linda Clara Kent, a dedicated and compassionate nurse, sadly passed away on February 11, 2024, at Lake City Medical Center at the age of 78. She was born on May 2, 1945, in Providence, FL, to her loving parents F.M. and Gladys Bielling Bivins. Linda's journey in the field of nursing began after she graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Florida in 1966. She launched her career at the VA hospital in Lake City. Linda's exceptional skills and unwavering dedication became evident as she worked tirelessly as an ER and ICU nurse. She finished her career at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City. Her commitment to providing top-notch care was unmatched, and she consistently went above and beyond the call of duty. Linda held a deep love for music and it gave her comfort during both joyous and challenging times. Above all else, though, Linda treasured her family. They were her world, and she found immeasurable joy in their presence. Linda is proceeded in death by her parents, F.M. Bivins and Gladys Bielling Bivins and her sister Laura Hilton.Linda's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters Lisa (B.J.) He is the son of the late John William and Yvetta Green Cox, Sr. He has lived all over Florida before settling and making Wildwood, FL his home for the past two years, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Sandy Acres Baptist Church, the VVA, VFW Chapter 4337, American Legion Post 18, a three-year member of the NRA, enjoyed going to the movies, jet skiing, water skiing, riding motorcycles, spending time with his family and his service dog Scrappy and teaching his children to drive a stander vehicle. But his favorite time was going to church. Carl William Bullard, Sr, of Olustee and Lake City, passed away peacefully, at home on February 23, 2024, at age 79. He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife and family who will miss his steady guidance and love in their lives. Carl came from humble beginnings but went on to build Lake City Glass over 50 years ago. He proved to be an astute businessman throughout the rest of his life. He leaves a legacy of the lessons he learned from hard work and determination. He enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He spent many hours, engaged in his passion, offshore fishing on the Gulf at Suwannee, and travelling to several countries. He spent his final years doing what he loved, camping, boating and cooking. He enjoyed being on the water and spending time with family and friends. He lived a good life. Born May 13, 1944, he is preceded in death by his parents, Cozzie and Mildred Milton Bullard, a brother, Richard Bullard, one son, Dwayne “Worm” Bullard and one stepdaughter, Sara Prevatt. "Amanda S. Fletcher, 34, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Monday February 19, 2024, due to an automobile accident in Columbia County, Florida. She was born on July 21, 1989, and grew up in Valdosta, Georgia where she graduated from Lowndes High School in 2007. She participated in many beauty pageants in her high school years and was crowned Miss Teen Valdosta in 2004 and went on to compete in the Miss Georgia pageant. She graduated from Georgia Military College in 2011 with an associate degree. Amanda worked in Hotel Management at Holiday Inn in Valdosta and Atlanta, Georgia for several years. She later moved to Lake Tahoe, California where she worked for Resort Services before relocating to Lake City, Florida in 2019. She was currently pursuing her degree in Holistic Medicine and was on the Dean’s list. Amanda was musically talented and loved to sing, play the ukulele and also guitar. She loved to cook, go to Florida Springs, travel, and loved her friends and family gatherings. She adored her son, James Hendrix Mays, age 2, whom she left behind. She always kept her firstborn beloved son, Brycen Wetherington in her heart. She loved her fur babies, Onyx and Chunky. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Frank Fletcher Sr. and Miriam Fletcher, Henry, and Claire Hall. Amanda is survived by her mother, Susan Hall Flanders (Kelvin Sands) of Madison, Florida; father, Frank Fletcher, Jr. (Darla) of Valdosta, Georgia; brother, Lane Fletcher (Taylor Martin) of Valdosta, Georgia; sisters: Ashleigh Mixon (Mareli Rivera) of Jacksonville, Florida and Jessica Taylor (Preston) of Hahira, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, loving cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2024, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services. She was employed as a school teacher with the Columbia County School System for over 35 years. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, her family and teaching the children in school. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vonda Louise Dicks, her father, Ira Meadows Anderson and her step-father, Edward Elvin Dicks.
