AKRON- Stephen H. Englehart, 78, passed away October 2nd, 2023 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Akron, Ohio to Arthur and Dorothy Englehart, he was the third of seven wonderfully loving brothers and sisters. Stephen’s early life centered around family, sports, a dedicated work ethic and just enough "hellraising" that he often left a memorable impression. He was a gifted athlete, most notably a football star at Hoban and Akron University. On the field he was able to display his fearless grit and unstoppable determination. Stephen went on to be employed by the Akron Public School System for over 30 years. He was a loyal and ever reliable provider for his family, but at the same time he instilled the importance of self-reliance and old school values. He was often a quite stoic man of depth and reflection. At other times he was equally fervent in his expression, often of his faith, his heart, and his beliefs. He was complex, thoughtful, unique, intelligent and had a dry and precise wit. He will always be remembered. A special acknowledgment to his wife of 56 years, Juanita, for her loving care and dedication in his time of need. Also, a special thanks to Jill N. and Chris C. He is survived by his wife Juanita, son, Stephen (Artie), and daughter, Keri. His beloved granddaughter, Chloe; daughter-in-law, Tracy and adopted son, Ron; his brothers, John (Marty), Tom (Susan), and Michael (Jennifer) Englehart; his sisters, Jeanne Marie Wentz (Steig) and Anita McHugh (Sheply). A memorial service will be held at the Hibernian Club from 11 AM- 2 PM Saturday, Oct. 14th at 200 Brown St. Akron, OH.
