MADISON - Stephen F. Brynelson, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at UW Hospital on April 6, 2023, with family members present. He was born on November 26, 1957, to Floyd and Margaret (King) Brynelson in Madison. Steve graduated from West High School in 1976 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985. Steve held a variety of occupations in sales, customer service and management. From 1981-1988 he worked as a Sales Representative and Director of Sales at Mid-Plains and Contract Communications. From 1988-1999, Steve worked as the first Human Resources Manager at Chorus Communications. He then transitioned to Outing Coordinator and Teaching Assistant of junior golfers at Pleasant View. He later worked for the Bruce Company in landscaping and snow removal. He eventually retired from Don Miller Subaru as a Service Writer. Steve, aka "Brenny" and "Uncle Stevie," was a long-time resident of Middleton, knew everyone, and could have been elected Mayor! He was a funny, outgoing, caring, loving and supportive brother, uncle and friend to so many! Steve had many interests and passions, especially GOLF. He was the family expert and consultant. He studied the pros, emulated them on the links, offered others helpful tips, and enjoyed playing exclusive courses such as Pebble Beach. Steve was a huge Bucks, Packers and Badgers fan--in person and on TV. He traveled to many games and had an impressive collection of autographs. And thanks to him, the family still has season Badger football tickets! Another love of Steve's was vacationing at Briny Breezes, FL with his long-time partner, Lori, every year especially if the PGA was playing in West Palm Beach. Steve also had a passion for bowling; he bowled very well in leagues for many years. The family has many fond memories of Uncle Stevie at holidays and birthdays, including his prime rib dinner on Christmas night, his Waldorf salad at Thanksgiving, and his endless hilarious or goofy stories, jokes and spontaneous reactions that made us bust out laughing until we cried. We sure will miss that!! Our beloved brother, uncle and friend left us way too early, but we are comforted by the belief that he is at peace with God, and all our loved ones who have passed on before us. Steve is survived by his siblings, Wade (Nancy) Brynelson, Paul (Jung) Brynelson, Laura Rivera, David (Rebecca) Brynelson, and Julia (Fred Romero) Brynelson; nephews, Roberto (Jennifer Leavitt-Moy) Rivera, Greg (Sarah) Brynelson, Nicholas Brynelson, and Jonathan (Dayah) Brynelson; grandnephews, Phoenix, Justice and Lorenzo Rivera, grandnephew Nathan and grandniece Iris Brynelson. Steve is also survived by many other close friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Gabriel Rivera. A Celebration of Life will be held at BLACKHAWK COUNTRY CLUB, 3606 Blackhawk Drive, Madison from 12 noon to 3:00 p. m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023, with a Program to begin at 1:30 p. m.
