Stanley Eugene McCarver, 73, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Ridgeview Health Care. Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5 until 7 p. m. , at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 p. m. , in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Graveside Memorial will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 2 p. m. , at Franklin Memory Gardens in Russellville, AL. Stanly was born on July 19, 1949, in Decatur, AL. He was a 1967 graduate of Russellville High School and graduate of University of North Alabama with a degree in secondary education and counseling. Stan began his career at East Limestone High School, before retiring and continuing to work as a counselor at Saltillo High School in MS and eventually retiring for good from Memphis City Schools in Memphis, TN. His career in education spanned more than 40 years. Stan was an avid singer and performer in community theatre and other entertainment. He was the original and longest running Dr. Andrew Kaiser, in The Incident at Looneys Tavern, in Double Springs, AL, a member of the choir and soloist at First United Methodist Church, Russellville, AL and sang at many functions and churches through the years. He was also known for his gardening and cooking skills, especially his "Ma Lena's Spaghetti and Gravy". Stan and his mother Sylvia served at Russellville High School for more than 44 combined consecutive years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil E. and Sylvia V. McCarver. He is survived by his son, Brent McCarver (Dana) of Jasper; granddaughters, Jordanna Gunter (Chase) and Katie McCarver; great grandsons, Barret Gunter and Beckham Gunter and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a newly formed Scholarship fund for RHS students, The McCarver Family Memorial Scholarship.
