| | Stanley (Stashu) Danowski age 49 passed away on September 32023, after a short illness. Stanley was born on December 13, 1973, in Conneaut, Ohio. He was the son of Pattie (Herb) Williams and Anthony Danowski. He was proceeded in death by his father Anthony Danowski, sister Charlotte Webster and grandparents Kenneth and Harriet Herb, He is survived by his mother Pattie Williams of West Virginia, brother Anthony (Tony) Danowski of West Virginia, daughter Samantha Danowski of North Carolina , brother in law, Dale Webster of Conneaut, Ohio, niece Brittany (Michael) Scharnberg of Conneaut, Ohio, nephew William (Alexandra) Webster of Tampa, Florida, great niece, Lilth Scharnberg of Conneaut, Ohio, and his girlfriend and love of his life Alexandra Sanders of Cleveland, Ohio. He is also survived by his furry babies Sasha, Tuni and Babygirl. Stanley was passionate about his music. He enjoyed playing music and being a member of the band Fully Loaded. He enjoyed cooking and making his famous spaghetti sauce and meatballs for family and friends. Stanley will be cremated per his wishes, memorial services for family and friends will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

It is with great sadness that the family of N. Joan Gwinn announces her passing on Monday, November 27, 2023, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Debbie Gwinn of Charlottesville, VA and Pam Bowen of White Sulphur Springs, WV, sisters, Mary Alice Buffo, Linda Fernandez (Wayne) Martha Mazey (Larry); sister-in-law, Carol Webb, niece, Sharon Zimmerman, brothers in law, Glenville Gwinn (Mildred) and Leo Gwinn (Darlene), her grandchildren namely, Wannis Bowen III (Heather) and Malary Bowen (Nathan) were her pride and joy. Her great grandchildren, Gavin Craft, JoElla Craft, Miriam Bowen, Keats Bowen, were equally as precious to her. She also had many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Leslie Gwinn; parents, Andrew, and Nan Webb; brother Andy Webb; son in law, Rick Bowen; granddaughter, Ella Jo Bowen and great grandson, Liam Craft. Joan was a Christian woman who was devoted to her church and family. She was employed as a secretary for the Greenbrier County school system for over thirty years before her retirement in 1997. She took pride in her home and her hands were never idle. The family wish to express their gratitude and love to Seneca Trail Healthcare Center for the loving care they provided Joan during her seven-year residency. "There are truly angels among us. Carol Hayes Cales 76 of Lewisburg, WV passed away November 22, 2023, just one day prior to her 77th birthday. Born November 23, 1946 in Lewisburg at the home of her maternal grandparents, Dora and Lonnie Forren, she was the daughter of the late Joe Blackburn Hayes and Mary Forren Hayes. After graduating from Lewisburg High School, Carol moved to Rockville, MD and then to Fort Worth, TX, working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the General Services Administration. During her 37 year career with the federal government, she received the Pride Award for Excellence in Customer Service, Exceptional Service Award, Commendable Service Award and Supervisor of the Year in the States of TX, NM, OK, LA and AR. She received her BA Degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University and certification from Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI). After retiring, Carol moved back to Lewisburg and was Office Manager for United Way of the Greenbrier Valley. She was a lifelong member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, being an Elder and Trustee. She also held various offices on Presbyterian Women's Council, received Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership, was active in STAIR Tutoring Program, Gwen's Meals, and Americana Thrift Shop. She was a member of Quota International of Greenbrier County and a past board member of Shepherd's Center of Greenbrier Valley. Some adventures on her "bucket list" were taking a hot air balloon ride, trying to ski (failed), taking a barefoot cruise to British Virgin Islands, mission trip to Fiji Island, and mission trip to Belize. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, dancing, working jigsaw puzzles, walking and yard work. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Joe Blackburn Hayes, Jr. (Cathy), nephew, Jay Hayes (Kim), sister, Linda Hayes, as well as several cousins and her many, many friends. As requested, her ashes will be placed in the columbarium at Old Stone Presbyterian Church and a private family memorial service will be held at that time.Show more

ASBURY, WV - Charles "Dick" Harvey Sr. , 89 of Asbury, WV passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born December 3, 1933, in Asbury, WV he was the son of the late Porter Elliott and Lois May Hayes Harvey. Dick retired as a Superintendent for Anderson Paving with over thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church and loved to play golf. Dick also oversaw the Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane Harvey, son, Charles D. "Rusty" Harvey Jr. brothers, Beryl, Darrell and Larry Harvey and a sister, Anna Ruth Harvey Ray, nephew, Charles Buck Smith, Donald Tink Smith and brother-in-law, Robert L. Smith, niece, Brenda Sue Ray. Survivors include a sister, Doris Harvey Smith of Ronceverte, WV, sister in law, Peggy Sampson (Randy) of Lewisburg, WV and a brother in law, Mickey Hanna of Clintonville, WV, several nieces and nephews, Doug Smith, Tim Smith, Jimmy Ray, Karen Bryson, Susan Cherrie, Brian Sampson Sr. , Jeremy "Jake" Sampson, Shelly Sampson, Jason Hanna, John Hanna, great nieces and nephews he thought of as grandchildren, Brian Sampson Jr. , Savannah Moyer, Courtney Moyer, Eli Sampson, Summer Sampson, Alex Sampson, Abbi Hanna, James Harvey, Savannah Harvey, Jaidyn Smith, Mariah Strowbridge, Sarah and Hannah Smith, Dallas and Declan Meriwether and many friends. LEWISBURG, WV - Bernard Lee "Bernie" Simmons, 65 of Lewisburg, WV passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 1, 1958, in Lewisburg, WV he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Margaret Geneve McClung Simmons. Bernie was a 1977 Graduate of Greenbrier East High School and was retired from the WV Office of Technology after thirty-six years of service. Bernie loved gardening and cooking. He operated the Hook and Ladder Grill and Firehouse Diner at the State Fair of WV for many years. Bernie joined the Lewisburg Fire Department on December 4, 1976. He was the only member of the department that served as a dedicated Engineer and had a wealth of knowledge when it came to operating the department's apparatuses. Bernie served in many different roles within the department including Assistant Chief. He was a member of the department's Hazardous Material Decontamination Team and was certified as Fire Officer 2 and was also a Certified Fire Instructor 2 through the WV Public Service Training. Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Karen Willis, stepdaughter, Tia Willis, mother-in-law, Marie Loudermilk, brother, Garland Simmons (Atik), nephews, Stephen Simmons (Melanie), Eric Simmons and Kevin Simmons (Amber) and niece, Staci Jordan (Abraham), many extended family and friends. Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Rhema Christian Center, 3584 Davis Stuart Road, Lewisburg, WV with Pastor Mike Teubert officiating.
