Footville, WisconsinSister Rosalinda Soria OP, died August 29, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. The funeral liturgy will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at St. Elizabeth Manor. Burial will be at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin in September. Rosalinda D. Soria was born February 6, 1945, to Gilberto and Guadalupe (Alvarado) Soria in Myers, Montana. The Sorias had 10 daughters. Rosie was the ninth. She is survived by one sister, Gloria Soto of Billings, Montana; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican family. Rosalinda entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1966, became Sister Rosalinda in 1967, made first profession in 1968 and at the time of her death had been a faithful member of the congregation for 55 years. Sister Rosalinda "Rosie" was dedicated to health care all of her active years in ministry. She was a kind person and especially empathetic with those who suffered from long-term pain and chronic illness. Sister Rosalinda served as nurse, counselor, administrator, mentor and case manager in the following states: Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and New Mexico. In 2012, she retired to Sinsinawa and in 2022, she moved to St. Elizabeth Manor. Rosie, we send you in peace to the wide waiting arms of God. Alleluia!

She had a natural burial at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin on October 31. Her funeral service will be at St. Elizabeth Manor on November 16, 2023, at 10 a. m. Frances Consuelo was born May 19, 1937, to Pastor and Consuelo (Bautista Ele) Ibarley in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by one sibling, Bridget Nava, of Seattle, WA, her Sinsinawa Dominican family and many friends throughout the country. In 1960, Frances Consuelo joined the Sinsinawa Dominicans. She became Sister Maria Consuelo. Her life included 63 years of faithful service. In her application, she stated, "I love the Dominican spirit. " Sister Frances took the spirit with her to teach primary grades in Minneapolis, MN; Spokane, WA; Chicago, IL; Zuni, N. M. ; and Milwaukee, WI. She served as a pastoral minister in Dubuque, a family caregiver in Honolulu, Hawaii, and a teaching assistant in Milwaukee. Sister Frances loved earth and relished the beauty of the changing seasons. May she celebrate with the splendor of all creation. Footville, WisconsinSister Emeric Bauch, OP, died September 21, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. She had a natural burial on September 28 at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. Her funeral liturgy and remembering service will be at St. Elizabeth Manor, October 2 at 10:00 a. m. Margaret Mary Bauch was born May 12, 1927, to Frank and Dorothy (Sadinka) Bauch. There were 17 children. Margaret Mary was the youngest. She had 13 brothers: Frank, Joe, Henry, James, Leo, Bernard, John, Edward, Vincent, Patrick, Clem, Michael and Philip. She had three sisters: Emelie, Francis and Mary. All are now with the communion of saints. Sister Emeric is survived by her beloved Sinsinawa Dominican family, nieces, nephews and her many friends. She was professed as a Dominican in 1950. For the next 73 years, she was a gentle, warm, faithful and loving presence to all. She served the congregation in culinary arts in Sinsinawa; Milwaukee; Faribault, MN; Cheyenne, WY; River Forest, IL; Omaha; Madison, WI; Chicago; and Dubuque, IA. She served in this capacity from 1950-1968. Sr. Emeric received a degree as a licensed practical nurse in 1979. She spent the next 27 years contributing her gifts in health care in Columbia, SC. She retired to Atlanta, then Sinsinawa and St. Elizabeth. Emeric, well, well done. Your delight in life will continue to be felt in the universe of goodness and joy.Show more

Footville, WisconsinSister Mary Schlehuber, OP, died June 23, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. She was one of six children born to Clarence and Veronica (Scanlon) Schlehuber in Peoria, Illinois. She is survived by one sister, Claire Reilly, of Mansfield, Texas; nieces; nephews; and her Sinsinawa Dominican family. Her funeral will be at Sinsinawa in early July. Casey-McNett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mary entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1947, and was given the name Sister Mary Ania at reception into the congregation. Sister Mary earned a master's degree in education in guidance and counseling from Edgewood College in Madison. For 30 years, she taught elementary school in the following states: Illinois, Wisconsin and California. Sister Mary, after study in clinical pastoral education, embarked on many years of ministry as chaplain at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. She was warm and able to be present to the needs of those in front of her. Sister Mary returned to Sinsinawa in 2013, bringing her loving ways. In 2019, she moved to St. Elizabeth Manor. In her application to the Sinsinawa Dominicans 76 years ago she wrote, "I love God with a love that demands everything. "Well done, Mary. Alleluia!Show more

Gary Wayne Indgjer, age 84, of Janesville Wisconsin passed away at the St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville on Monday, June 12, 2023 following his courageous battle after having two stokes; that damaged his sight and affected his ability to walk and care for himself. He was born at home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on December 14, 1938; the son of Oscar and Deloris (Van Tassel) Indgjer. He was married to Judith A. (Schoenbeck) Indgjer on December 1, 1958; enjoying 65 happy years together. Gary was employed at General Motors in Janesville, retiring after 38 years. He enjoyed his family, camping trips, playing cards, and of course hunting. Gary is survived by his wife, Judie who will miss him dearly; three children: Ken (Lisa) Indgjer, Tricia (Bob) Flynn and Jason (Linda Nash) Indgjer; four grandchildren: Becky (Britton) Straub, Raquel (Rex) Downing, Maddy (Tony) Skillman and Jeni (Ross) Tilkens; seven great-grandchildren: Landon, Dylan, Lincoln, Mayva, Audrey, Warren and Owen; and his brother, Ron Indgjer. He is also survived by his special Teddy Bear doggie, Gypsy, who looks for him daily to rub her ears. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary W. Indgjer, Jr. in 1986; parents; sister, Sandra Christopherson; and brother in-law, Roy Schoenbeck. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY; with visitation from 10:00 a. m. until time of service.Show more

Footville, WisconsinSister Therese (Michaelita) Maher, O. P. , died May 27, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. Her remembering will be at Sinsinawa on Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 p. m. and funeral on Friday, June 2 at 10:30 a. m. Therese Marie was born July 27, 1929, to Michael and Marie (Jacobs) Maher in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the second of five children. She is survived by Marianne Houch, Michael Maher, other family members and her Sinsinawa community. After two years of training, she began a long career at the secondary level in home economics and counseling. She ministered in the following states: Wisconsin, South Dakota, Montana, Texas, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Georgia, and Washington. Sister Therese was committed, in her later years, to offering emergency services to the elderly. She reached out in faith to those around her. God calls you, Therese; "Come home now, come home. Virginia "Ginny" D. Hansen, age 83, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St. Elizabeth's Manor in Footville. Ginny was born in Racine, WI on October 10, 1939; the daughter of Arthur and Fay (Shaw) Rothering. She graduated from St. Catherine's Catholic School in Racine in 1957. Ginny married her loving husband, Donald H. Hansen in Racine in 1959; and they were blessed with 59 years of marriage before his passing on November 19, 2018. They lived in Janesville for over 50 years where she enjoyed her time as manager of the Milwaukee Street Harris Ace Hardware. Ginny was very talented at sewing and cross stitch, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and movies. Most importantly, she was devoted to providing a safe and happy household through her unwavering caring and thoughtful guidance, sense of humor, and joy of cooking and baking. Ginny is survived by her children: Beth (fiance, Todd Fowler) Hansen, Lynne (Bill) McQueen, Steve (Lisa) Hansen and Jeff (Tammy) Hansen; grandchildren: Erica, Abby, Alex (Trevor), Lane, Lauren, Ellyn, Chelsea, Andrew (Megan) and Kyriel; great grandchildren: Landyn, Emery, Paislee, Penelope, Jack, Laila and Ace; siblings: Julie (Jack) Shelby, Bob (Marge) Rothering and Fay "Cookie" Lynch; sister in-law, Cheryl Rothering; and Susan Batenburg (and her daughter, Sarah). She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Hansen; grandson, Mitchell Hansen; and brother, Johnny Rothering. Her funeral services will be at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, April 11 at 6:30 p. m. and April 12 at 10:30 a. m. Barbara was born April 25, 1937 to Lyder and Catherine (McCoy) Skaar in Minneapolis. There were three daughters. She is survived by her sister, Karen Kenny; her brother-in-law, Pat Marrin; nieces; nephews; many friends and her Dominican family. After Sinsinawa Dominican formation, Barbara received the name Sister Leonius. Beginning in 1958 until her retirement in 2015, she was deeply committed to education. She received a degree in elementary education and later a master's degree in special education. Through the years she brought her dedication, skill, kind ways and clear goals for all learners to everyone she encountered. She served in the following states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Florida. Leonius became known by many as the "teacher of teachers". Thank you. Footville, WisconsinSister Janette (Juditha) Wicker O. P. , died January 29, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. She was born to Joseph and Mathilda "Tillie" (Fogltanz) Wicker on September 25, 1931, in Denmark, Wisconsin. She was their only child. She is loved and remembered by many friends and her Dominican family of sisters. Sister Janette was given a natural burial at Sinsinawa on February 1. Her funeral services will be at Sinsinawa, February 9 at 6:30 p. m. and at 10:30 a. m. on February 10. Janette brought her deep kindness to all 68 years of service as a faith filled member of the congregation. She spent many years in elementary education as teacher, principal, unit leader and religion coordinator in Illinois and Wisconsin. In 2005, she came to Sinsinawa to be the librarian. Janette loved to be around people and thrived in community. Her attention to detail, her sense of humor, her generous spirit and her outreach to all have made the world a better place. Her funeral services will be at Sinsinawa on February 6 at 6:30 p. m. and at 10:30 a. m. February 7. Casey-McNett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Denise Joan was born to Michael and Kathryn (Riley) Dwyer on October 31, 1934, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was the 12th and last child of the Dwyers. Over the course of 20 years this family of Irish heritage welcomed Veronica (Sister Mary Dominicana, OP), Mary, Kathleen, James (Rev. Cormac, SDS), Zita, Margaret, William, Therese, John, Patricia, Terry and Denise. With the death of Sister Catherine Thomas that lively generation has completed their journey on this earth. Catherine Thomas is survived by many nieces, nephews and her Dominican family. Catherine loved her family. Imagine the laughter and reunions and storytelling (with blarney) that now unfolds. After profession in 1954 and until 2002, Sister Catherine Thomas was engaged in educational ministries in the following states: Maryland, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Minnesota and Montana. She was a good teacher. She then served the Archdiocese of Minneapolis-St. Paul as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 2006. Catherine brought her humor and presence to Sinsinawa in 2016 and then Footville. May God welcome her with open arms!Show more
