Sister Alice Kotwick of the Order of Servants of Mary (Servites) passed peacefully to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 2, at the Church of Christ Assisted Living Center in Clinton Township. She was 85 years old. Sister Alice was born in Detroit, the daughter of Edmond and Josephine Kotwick. She was the oldest of five children, including David, John, Laura (Thompson) and Michael. Upon graduating from Dominican High School, she left for Omaha, Nebraska to study to become a Servite. Upon her Profession, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in mathematics, from Duchesne College, and her Master of Science Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Nebraska. Over the years, Sister Alice served as the Principal of four schools: St. James Elementary School in Omaha; St. William Elementary School in Walled Lake, MI, St. Francis de Sales Elementary School in Holland, MI; and St. Jude Elementary School in Detroit. In her later years she served as a member of the religious staff at Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, MI, and at De Lasalle High School in Warren, MI. While a vibrant member of the Servite Community, she loved spending as much time as possible with her family, enjoying holiday meals, backyard cookouts, and travelling with them whenever possible. She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. She dearly loved them all and proudly shared their accomplishments. Sister Alice held a close relationship with Our Blessed Mother Mary, and prayed the rosary every morning and evening for the intentions of family and friends. She now continues to do so from her place in heaven. She will be missed and never forgotten, and we rejoice in her eternal life. Visitation for Sister Alice will take place on Tuesday, October 17th from 3pm to 7pm with a 7pm Scripture Service at Chas. Verheyden, Inc. , 16300 Mack Ave. , Grosse Pointe Park. She will lie instate on Wednesday, October 18th from 10:30 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11 am at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park. Dr. Neil Walter Stark, age 76, of Clinton Twp. , Michigan died on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Clinton Twp. , Michigan. He was born September 5, 1947 in Detroit. Dr. Stark retired after more than 45 years in practice as a general dentist in Sterling Heights. A 1972 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, he was also a graduate of Central Michigan University. While at Central, he was one of the founding members of the university's Sigma Pi fraternity chapter. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan and enjoyed fishing in Port Huron and Canada, especially for walleye and pike. He enjoyed golfing for fun, as well as taking trips to Las Vegas. Dr. Stark is survived by his daughter, Erica; sister, Nancy (the late Larry) Savage; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Stark; brother-in-law, Michael Rampton; niece, Julie Isman; nephew, Ben Rampton; and family friend, Yvonne Stehle. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Sandra (nee Dooley); parents, Frederick Carl Stark and Florence Charlotte (nee Wehrmeister); and siblings, Jim Stark and Laurie Rampton. August "Gus" Anthony Viglione, age 58, of Clinton Township, passed away on December 8, 2023. Born on March 27, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, Gus was the beloved son of William and Rosary Viglione. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a heart full of precious memories. Gus was a man whose family meant the world to him. As a devoted father, his daughter Victoria was the light of his life. Their bond was unbreakable, and he took great joy in being there for her every step of the way. Gus's vibrant spirit, creative nature, and love for art and writing made him a truly unique individual. His eloquent words, captured in his treasured poems, will forever be cherished by his family. Music held a special place in Gus's heart, and he found solace in attending live concerts and sharing his eclectic taste as a DJ. He was an avid sports enthusiast, most notably a die-hard fan of Michigan football and the Detroit Red Wings. As a young man, his talent as a baseball player shone brightly, and he thrived on the competition. What truly defined Gus was his unwavering kindness, easygoing nature, and generous spirit. His genuine warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel comfortable and valued, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. As we come together to mourn the loss of Gus, let us also celebrate the beautiful moments shared and the profound impact he had on our lives. Reid Stephan Wichern, 70, of Clinton Township, passed away in the comfort of his own home Tuesday, December 5, 2023. He was born in Mt. Clemens, September 15, 1953, the son of Marion (Mercier) Wichern and the late Louis Wichern. His marriage to Linda Jo Eldridge was May 14, 1983, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Capac. Reid served his country with the United States Navy from 1971 to 1974. He was baptized, confirmed, and had his first communion at St. Louis Catholic Parish, Clinton Township. He was a 1971 Mt. Clemens High School graduate and had worked for Foster Medical, Citation Tool, and Axalta Chemical Plant in Mt. Clemens. Reid was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and small game. Reid had traveled the globe, including many countries in Europe, Egypt, Mexico, Venezuela, and about 40 of our 50 United States. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving in addition to Linda, his wife of 40 years, are four children, Daryn (Christine) Santini of Warren, Andrea (George) Williams of Kentucky, Lindsay Wichern (Mark Pitcher) of Clinton Township, and Kyle (Jeanette) Wichern of Fenton; six grandchildren, Jenna, Adam, Alex, Isabella, Henry, and Margot; three siblings, Stephanie (Kent) Thomas of Virginia, Devon (late Marty) Zurawski of Roseville, and Kim Wichern of Mt. Clemens; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
