It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Socorro Maxino Gammad on October 3, 2023, in Virginia Beach, VA. She is survived by her children: Maria Teresa, Maria Ana, Gerald, Florence, Mauricio, Artemio, Regnaldo, and Mary Jean. Socorro M. Gammad was born and raised in Sabangan, Mt. Province, Philippines where she developed her values of community, faith, and resilience. It was during her college years that she met her beloved husband, Martin Artemio Gammad. Over time, their bond grew stronger, evolving into a deep connection and ultimately a family. Socorro's journey as a mother was paved with unwavering love, steadfast discipline, and enduring devotion. As the matriarch of the Gammad family, she guided her children, instilling in them the virtues of compassion, hard work, and integrity. Her nurturing warmth and firm guidance molded the lives of her children, providing them with the tools to navigate life's inevitable challenges. Deeply religious and spiritually rooted, Socorro was a beacon of faith in her community. She once headed an organization dedicated to visiting families and leading them in praying the black rosary. Her commitment to faith was not just personal; it was a shared journey, creating a sense of unity and purpose among those she connected with. Beyond her family and faith, Socorro was recognized by many for her charismatic presence and congenial spirit. Affectionately known as Mrs. Congeniality, she formed countless friendships, leaving a lasting Mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her tireless efforts in service did not go unnoticed. Nominated as the "Best Mother of the Year" by Baguio City's City Council, Socorro's impact resonated far and wide. Her innate ability to understand and empathize led to her election as a community leader, further testament to her influential role in the lives of many. Although Socorro's journey continues into the afterlife, her legacy carries on within her family. May it continue to serve as their guiding light and a reminder of her love, compassion, and kindness. Mailiw kami kenka. A public visitation will be held on October 18, 2023 from 6-8 PM, at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA.
