Simmie L. Ash, 71, of O'Brien, FL passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the E. T. York Haven Hospice, Gainesville, FL. The Lake City, FL, native moved to O'Brien in 1990 from Rapid City, SD. He was a 20-year retired Master Sergeant of the U. S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam Era as security and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ash is survived by his wife of 50 years: Shirley A, Ash, O'Brien; Sons: Kevin G. Ash (Jill), Worthington Springs and Ken L. Lee (Pamela), Clermont; Sisters: Sue Conrad (Arthur), Branford and Sarah Greek (Jerry), East Dublin, GA; Brothers: Stanley Ash (Jeanette), Branford, and James Ash, Lake Butler; Grandchildren: Christie, Alisa, Acea, and Ally; Great grandchildren: Martin, Jaxson, Amber, Lilly, and Ezra. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Gene Ash and J. L. Ash.

Betty L. Bush, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus, on October 18, 2023. She passed away peacefully at Stoneridge EFC, where she received loving care throughout her stay. Betty was born on September 13, 1936 in the Alma, MI. area to George and Bernice McGill. She married the love of her life, Oliver Bush, on November 1, 1963. She and Ollie had been residents of Nashville, MI. for many years, formerly of Grand Ledge, MI. Although early in her life Betty pursued a nursing career as a surgical technician, she married and became a homemaker. She carried on the tradition of crocheting which was a hallmark of her mother. She had been an active member of her beloved community at Nashville Baptist Church over the years. She enjoyed singing in the choir, and serving on various committees. Betty loved to cook and was happy to prepare an intimate meal for two or entertain a large group in her home. She had a reputation for serving delicious food. Betty is survived by two step-sons, Gary Bush (late Carol) of Crystal Springs, FL, Terry (Cheryl) Bush of Charlotte, MI; step-daughter Shelley (Vance) Higdon of Manitowoc, WI; sister Lola Hunt; sister-in-law Ilene McGill; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Oliver Bush; parents George and Bernice McGill; brothers Kenneth (Ada) McGill, Clifford (Georgia) McGill, Robert McGill; and sister Aloma (Bud) Donley. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Nashville Baptist Church, 312 Phillips Street, Nashville, MI on Friday, November 3, 2023 with visitation from 10:00-11:00am, and a Memorial Service 11:00-12:00. Mary Lee Terpening, age 91, went to be with Jesus on October 12, 2023. Mary was born on April 28, 1932 in the Bellevue, Michigan area, to Cleon and Lena (Keith) Oaster. Mary married William Terpening on June 7, 1948. They had four children, twins June Bryan (Jim) and Joan Cranmore Workman (Charles), Kenneth Terpening (Ruth) and Bonnie Eisner Frye (Ron). In Mary's younger years she enjoyed many motorcycle trips, rock hunting and reading books. She loved horses, contesting and camping with them, dancing and spending time with family. Mary lived in the Hastings and Nashville area most of her life, with the exception of four years in Texas. In 1986 she went back to school and received her high school diploma. Mary worked at Flexfab, Hastings Manufacturing, The Medical Care Facility, The Department of Social Services (California) and had a riding stable for 2 years. Mary is survived by her children, sister-in-law Marilyn Oaster, nine grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jody White. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Oaster (Jane), Roland Oaster (Marilyn), sister Roberta Foote McDonald, son-in-law James R. Bryan and grandson Shawn Bryan. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10:00am to 12:00 noon Friday, October 20th at the Thornapple Valley Church on M43 in Hastings, MI. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at the church at 12:00 noon, with a luncheon to follow. Beulah Mae Erridge, Age 84 of, Hastings, MI passed away peacefully on October 07, 2023, at home in Hastings, MI Beulah was born in Stanton, MI, on August 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Emma and L. D. Erridge. She was raised in Stanton MI and attended local schools graduating from Stanton High School in 1957. After graduating, Beulah relocated to the Hastings area where her sister Pauline got her a job at Hastings Manufacturing where she worked faithfully 30 years before retiring in the late 1980's. While working at Hastings Manufacturing Beulah met her beloved friend Patricia Shaw. They quickly developed a beautiful friendship sharing many common interests which included a deep love of their faith and church. Pat retired shortly after Beulah, and they dedicated their lives to serving their church family at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. For many years Beulah organized and ran "Bingo", and made donuts for each of the members to enjoy after Saturday Mass. Her passion for helping children was also realized in the countless hours she spent volunteering at St. Rose school. Her children's ministry was not limited to church & school; she dedicated her life to providing a safe haven in her home for many local children who had no place to go, often at no expense to the families who needed childcare. In their spare time, Beulah and Pat enjoyed traveling to many destinations and bringing along family members. Beulah was survived by her beloved friend Pat, her sister Audrey Leslie. She was preceded in death by her sisters Maxine, Virginia, Pauline, Lois, brothers Max, Pat & Bernard Erridge. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, in Hastings MI with Father Jeff Hanley officiating. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, guests are invited to remain at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for a time of fellowship and luncheon provided by Beulah's beloved church family. Interment will take place privately at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Hastings, MI.
