"Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Simeion Byron Taylor III, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his residence in Oxford. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church. The funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church. Simeion, better known as Byron, was welcomed into this world on March 01, 1935 in Lexington, Mississippi as one of three children born to the late Simeon Byron Taylor II and Helen Lurline King Taylor. Byron was employed with the Texas Gas Corporation for an expansive Thirty-five years before retirement called his name and he hung up his hat as District Manager. He spent his golden years running his own farming operation, cultivating row crops such as cotton and soybeans. However, when he preferred to stroll along the leisure side of life you could find him hunting creatures great and small, specifically birds and deer. Above his career and hobbies, he valued his family the most and did whatever was necessary to keep the bonds of love and affection strong within the branches of his family tree. In addition to his love for family, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart as he cherished the moments spent with them. Although Byron has departed from our presence his memory will continue to live on the hearts of his dear loved ones. Byron leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; loving wife, Iris Taylor of Oxford; one son, Terry Taylor of Oxford; two daughters: Sherrie Padgett of Oxford; Wendy (Mark) Reese of Oxford; seven grandchildren: Bo (Starr) Padgett of Oxford; Leigh Taylor Padgett of Oxford; Laken Lane Taylor of Oxford; June Nicole Taylor of Oxford; Terrance David Taylor of Oxford; Christopher Byron Franks; Charles Anthony (Ashley) Franks of Prattville, Alabama;; fourteen great grandchildren: Lilly Kate Padgett, Mattie Reese, Carter Franks, Caylee Franks, Makayla Carlson, Houston Rockette, Neely Grace Taylor, Simeion Jackson Taylor, Henley Shaw Taylor, Bella Padgett, Bambi Padgett, Autumn Brooke Padgett, Amelia Padgett, and Bodee Rae Padgett; one sister, Glenda K Baker of Burleson, Texas; one nephew, Michael McNeer; two nieces: Kelly Baker of Burleson, Texas; Erin (Scott) White of Arlington, Texas. The loved ones that departed from this life before him include; parents, Simeion Byron Taylor II and Helen Lurline King Taylor; one brother, Ralph King Taylor.
