John Mohan

Age - 83

November 10, 2023

John Patrick Matthew Mohan (JPM CPA) 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 4, 2023. While John was living in North Carolina at the time, John's heart was always in Warrington where he and his late wife, Geraldine, raised 3 beautiful daughters and where John served as the township's Tax Collector for 37 years. John was welcomed into this world August 24,1940 in Lynn, Massachusetts to Mary and Patrick Mohan. The eldest of 4, John moved to Philadelphia at the age of 11 with his mother and siblings after the loss of his father. John was a proud graduate of Father Judge High School class of '58. He was also the first of his family to graduate college at St. Joseph's University in 1962. After college, John went into accounting, earned his CPA license, and in 1974, started his own accounting firm, John P. Mohan and Associates. In addition to his own practice, John was elected to Tax Collector of Warrington in 1981; an occupation to which he was re-elected nine times and a position that truly connected him to his community. However, it was the third occupation that John added to his workload that truly brought fulfillment to his life. In 1988, he became a well-known and beloved teacher at Penn State Ogontz campus. If you had Mr. Mohan as a teacher, then you know it was eeeeeeeeasy to see how much he loved his students and his classroom! To know John was to know that you always had a friend close by with a joke in hand. He found the most joy spending time with his family! A husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a cousin, a coach, a church lector ---A truly incredible human being! John's smile and laughter will be greatly missed here on earth, but eagerly welcomed in heaven. Andrew Sivak

Andrew Sivak

Age - 53

November 8, 2023

Andrew J. Sivak Andy was born on November 15, 1944. He showed early signs of greatness at birth when he was named the Philadelphia area's "Blue Cross Baby of 1944. " The gig came with a US Savings Bond, marking the beginning of Andy's lifelong acumen for making money by being in the right place at the right time. Andy grew up in the Kirklyn neighborhood of Upper Darby, PA, the son of Marguerite and Andy and brother of Mary Beth and Marguerite. He attended St. Laurence grade school (Class of 1958), followed by Monsignor Bonner High School (Class of 1962). Legend has it that his senior class at Bonner was so unruly that the good Augustinian Friars wisely decided against allowing them to have a senior prom. Andy also studied chemistry at St. Joseph University. From an early age, Andy was a man of many talents. He was naturally gifted at all sports--baseball, ice skating, basketball, bowling, golf, and everything in between--much to the chagrin of his athletically challenged (but much smarter and more obedient) sisters. (Spoiler alert: This section of his remembrance was written by his sisters. ) He was also resourceful, teaching himself golf by repeatedly and successfully sneaking onto the Philadelphia Electric Golf Course at the end of his street. He was (and remained for his entire life) funny, welcoming, joyful and always ready for a good time. When not causing his mother extreme anxiety over his shenanigans, Andy worked his first real job as a soda jerk at local luncheonette the Linden Room, where he learned among other things how to make an excellent cheesesteak. A few of Andy's memorable activities in his older teen/young adult years included: knocking over the family's fully decorated live Christmas tree while trying to sneak into the house on Christmas Eve after a few (?) too many beers at Hunters Tavern, the only upside of which was that his little sister Marguerite just knew that the racket downstairs was the real Santa; somehow acquiring a motorcycle that he once drove around the bar at The Dolphin in Sea Isle City where he was a bartender; and being stationed in the U. S. Army at Fort Ord, California, which years later became a remote shuttle parking lot for Pebble Beach--definitely not a coincidence. Andy had a lifelong passion for golf and golf equipment. While some people never have a hole in one after playing golf for a lifetime, Andy had five--one of which occurred at Augusta National. Needless to say, that was a proud moment indeed. His favorite part of golf, though, was the 19th hole, where on most days he could be found collecting his winnings and telling jokes and tall tales over a beverage. Andy had a diverse career. Along with being a soda jerk, he was a debit insurance agent in North Philadelphia, a TV repair man, a chemist at Smith Kline. He then found the telephone industry and began his successful 40-year career. He began as a salesman for Executone Telephone Systems selling business phone systems. He traveled the world in the mobile phone business and retired from Samsung as Vice President and General Manager. After retirement, he continued consulting for the industry and worked until his death. As he got older and his co-workers got younger, he gained a reputation as "the wily old veteran. " He was famous for mentoring people and greatly respected by his peers. Andy was married to Madeline (Maggie) for 39 years. They met at Executone, where she was the senior sales rep who trained him. She was the center of his world and the love of his life. He said yes to anything she asked. They were best friends, business partners, golf buddies and a dynamic duo. He is also survived by their beautiful chocolate Labradoodle, Trixie, who adored him. He was met at the Rainbow Bridge by Ivan, Lucy, Reilly, Cookie and Chloe. In addition to his sisters, Andy leaves behind, to carry on his love of life, his brother-in-law Jack, his dear niece Emily and her husband Chris, his beloved great-nephew Jack and many family and friends. There is no doubt that Andy now enjoys eternal life in heaven, where he has already played several rounds with Arnold Palmer, his golf idol, with Andy hitting 300-yard drives with the same driver for eternity. Upon his arrival, his mother breathed a heavenly sigh of relief and his father smacked him in the back of the head, just in case. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Duke Cancer Institute, Office of Development, 300 West Morgan Street, Suite 1000, Durham, NC, 27701.
