Shirley Joyce Ulmer was called to her heavenly home on Monday, October 2, 2023, comforted with her two daughters by her side. Her last journey of life was spent as a resident of St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville for three years. Shirley was the youngest of nine children, born February 13, 1937, to Katharina and Konrad Stoll on the family farm near Neudorf. She attended a country school and was taught German at a very young age. Shirley met the love of her life, Adam, and they were united in marriage on October 21, 1955, in Neudorf. They settled on Adam's family farm four miles east of Duff and raised four children. Shirley was a hardworking farmer's wife and made sure that all the chores were done at the end of each day. She always found the time to plant a large garden and shared with others what was grown. She volunteered at the Duff Museum and participated in all the Duff Sports events, from softball to curling. Shirley was a member of and actively involved with Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She loved to sing with the church choir, the German choir and the Christmas cantatas. She served as a secretary for the church, was a helping hand for Communion and a volunteer with the vacation bible school instructors. After retiring off the farm in 1998, and moving to Melville, Shirley volunteered at St. Paul Lutheran Home for over twenty years helping out with the residents. She walked many a mile on those volunteer days. She also volunteered at the Thrift Store and served as president for a number of years. Shirley was a talented seamstress, sewing many bridesmaid dresses for family and friends and outfits for grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting tablecloths, doilies, baby outfits and Christmas tree ornaments for all. Shirley was rewarded with many trophies in her lifetime with softball, curling and bowling. She was an avid fan and supporter of the Melville Millionaires hockey and baseball teams. She would record the stats on each player throughout the season and would not miss an "out-of-town" game on the radio. Shirley leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory: daughters Sharlene (Garth) Minto and Delene (Neall) Carmen; sons Blair (Colleen) Ulmer and Garnell (Kim) Ulmer; grandchildren Brendan (Luci Kwak) Minto, Kierra (Brian) Gottfried, Logan (Amy) Minto, Landon (Kristen) Minto, Dustin (Jordyn Leib-Minto) Minto, Jaime Carmen, Nathan (Becky Kozalk) Ulmer, Nicolas Ulmer, Mackenzie Ulmer and Lucas Ulmer; great-grandchildren Adam, Jackson and Collins Gottfried, Koah, Jovie and Kyler Minto, Remi Minto, Jevaeh and Jahzion Ulmer-Taylor; sisters-in-law Clara Stoll and Sue Stoll; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret "Ann" (Wise) Stout passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born on August 7, 1939, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to the late Carnie Wilson and Dorothea Lee Wise. She attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married her high school sweetheart Robert ("Bob") Stout on August 30, 1958, and they moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. She retired after a long career at Kerr McGee oil company and had many dedicated years of service as a loaned executive for the United Way of Central Oklahoma. She loved to read, sew and cook, always putting out a wonderful holiday spread for her family that could have fed all of Oklahoma City. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf and spending time with family at the lake. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was lovingly called Nanny, Nanners, and Nanabanana by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be forever missed and loved by family and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her brother Richard Wise and wife Denise of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, son, Robert Mark Stout of Edmond, Oklahoma and daughter, Susan Ann Stout of Edmond, Oklahoma. Surviving grandchildren include Tiffany Thomas and husband John of Edmond, Oklahoma, Christin Browning and husband Adam of Maryville, Tennessee, Zachary Dawson and wife Braden of Norman, Oklahoma, Robert Stout and wife Madison of the Village, Oklahoma, Cambrie Rice and husband Jordan, and great grandchildren Layken, Olivia, Graham, Owen, Deacon, Jett and Evelyn. Barbara Ginsterblum

Barbara Ann (Davis) Ginsterblum was born at home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ardith and Evelyn (Ham) Davis. She passed away peacefully the morning of December 4, 2023, at the age of 87. Mom grew up attending Oklahoma City public schools. Then in the summer after her sophomore year at Central State University (CSU), now known as the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), she met the love of her life, Neil B. Ginsterblum. After her kids were out of the house, Mom went back to UCO and got her teaching degree. She taught in the Oklahoma City public schools for several years, until she retired. Mom and Dad were active members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Edmond, Oklahoma, where she was a catechist, and shared her art on the liturgy committee. Mom and Dad mentored engaged couples in the Pre-Cana Conference, and served as Eucharistic ministers. In her later years, Mom was a Eucharistic minister bringing in communion to shut-ins after daily Mass. Mom was an avid reader, and enjoyed working in her garden where her green thumb worked magic! She is survived by her daughters, Lisa and husband Richard, Nina Brown, and Carla and husband David, sons Neil and John. Mom was blessed by five grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor and husband Kyle, Lisa Marie Fielder and husband Kevin, Aubrey Ginsterblum, Nate Ginsterblum and wife Abigail, and Annaliese Ginsterblum, along with two great-grandchildren, Roman and Tinsley Taylor. Mom is also survived by her brother Ardie Davis and wife Gretchen, and sister, Kathy Sullivan and husband Brad, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Ardith and Evelyn Davis and husband Neil Ginsterblum. Kay Steinberger Troutman was born May 4th, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and passed away December 2, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Kay is survived by daughters Kathy Smith (Richard), Janet Halbert (David), and son John Troutman (Ana); grandchildren Jamie Soderstrom (Mark), Kerri McGeHee ( Scott), Amanda Lohrenz (Zac), Andrew Smith (Allie) and Stacey Troutman; great-grandchildren Drew, Sydney, George, Katie and Iris. Kay lived most of her childhood in Houston, Texas, with her parents Clinton Cheairs and Francis Terrell Steinberger. She was the youngest of 3 children; Jean DeLue and Calvin Steinberger having preceded her in death. She loved her family dearly and spent much of her childhood playing outdoors and participating in sports. Kay attended The University of Oklahoma where her older brother was already a student. In her Sophomore year she met the love of her life, Benjamin Troutman. They married August 18, 1951, while still in school and were married for 68 years. Kay graduated in 1952 with a degree in business. Ben and Kay moved many times with his job as a landman for Conoco Oil Company, living in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Oklahoma. While living in Houston, Texas, in 1979 and attending a Bible Study with her sister, Kay accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. When Ben and Kay retired, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where Kay was involved in many ministries and had deep fellowship and friendships with some of her life's greatest friends. She and Ben traveled extensively throughout the world before making the decision to move back to Oklahoma City to be closer to family. Kay was known as Mama Kay to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and leaves a legacy of love of God and Christian service to all whom have known and loved her. She loved studying the Bible and had a deep, active prayer life. A private graveside will be held for Kay at Memorial Park Cemetery located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bernard Sharp

Age - 93

Shawnee resident Bernard Gray Sharp 93, passed away on November 30th at a hospice facility in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born April 10, 1930 near Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Jesse Maynard Sharp and Leoto Izora (Thompson) Sharp. He graduated from Asher High School in 1949. On November 27, 1957, Mr. Sharp married Nella Lou Knight and they were married 41 years when she passed away on August 20, 1999. In March 2001, Mr. Sharp married Wanda June Terry of Shawnee. He was a Faithful member of the Central Church of Christ in Shawnee. Mr. Sharp earned a Bachelors degree in Mathematics-Education from East Central University and a Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma. He served two years in the United States Navy from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Puerto Rico. Mr. Sharp began his teaching career in Seymour, Texas and taught two and half years at Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Oklahoma. From fall through spring of 1962 he was a graduate teaching assistant in the mathematics department at the University of Oklahoma. In the fall of 1962 he began teaching at Otero Junior College in La Junta. Colorado and retired in 1993 after teaching there for 31 years. Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by his wife Nella Lou, his parents, two sisters Beryl Herriman and Doris Cooper, also brothers Cecil, Keith Allen, Maynard and Darrell Sharp. He is survived by his wife June Sharp of the home, daughter Anita Sharp of Shawnee, sons and daughters-in-law Allen and Sheri Sharp of Edmond, Russell and Dawn Sharp of Edmond, Brian and Julie Sharp of Edmond; grandchildren Josh Fivecoate, Austin Sharp, Krysia Sharp, Tanner Sharp, Colton Sharp, Bailee Sharp, Quincee Sharp, Walker Sharp, Noah Sharp and Sarah Sharp, sister in law Mary Louise Sharp and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd Ring

Floyd James Ring, Jr. , better known as Jim, Jimmy, or Papa, passed away November 23, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 85 years old. Jimmy was born December 27, 1937, in Red Rock, OK to Floyd James Ring, Sr. and Dorris Mae (Bontz) Ring. Raised on the family farm in Red Rock with his brother Joe, Jimmy graduated from Red Rock High School in 1956 and earned an accounting degree from Oklahoma State University. On December 24, 1960, he married Joyce Kaye Veach at Red Rock First Christian Church. The couple first lived in Tulsa before relocating to Oklahoma City. Jimmy worked as an IRS auditor his entire career, retiring from the IRS after 31 years of service. Jimmy’s love for his family was evident through his actions and the time he invested in attending his grandsons’ activities. Whether it was a baseball game, a choral performance, or a birthday dinner, he was there. Jimmy served as a Mason for over 65 years, attending Masonic functions as a Past Master of Britton Lodge #434. He was a distinguished 33rd Degree Mason, as well as Scottish Rite. Jimmy attended Crossings Community Church and especially enjoyed his time with his "Keenagers" group every week. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorris, by his wife of 38 years, Joyce, by his younger brother, Michael Joe, and by his second wife, Marty Park. Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Melissa Boese, of Piedmont, and by his son Robert Ring, of Edmond, and his wife Genifer; by his grandchildren Brett Alan Boese, Matthew James Ring, Jarod James Boese and his wife Katrina, Blake William Ring, and Samuel Veach Ring; by his nieces and nephews Michel Ring, Erick Ring, Kathy Biggerstaff, Patrick Snider, and Leah Snider. Jimmy is also survived by Norma Bertrem, who gifted him with 13 years of love and friendship. Kevin Walsh

Kevin Walsh, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born on January 23, 1951, to John and Rosalie Walsh in Dayton, Ohio. His family moved to Lebanon, Illinois, where Kevin grew up and graduated high school. After high school, Kevin received his Bachelor's degree in psychology from Central State University, now known as The University of Central Oklahoma. While working as an EMT, he met Gerri who was working in the hospital at the ER. They started dating and fell in love. They married on a hot day in Lebanon, Illinois on August 7, 1977, and they had two sons, Brendan and Conor. He was unapologetically himself and always wanted to spend time with family and friends. Kevin served his Edmond community as an EMT. A few of his hobbies included playing golf with his sons, cooking for friends and family, listening to classic rock or Irish folk music, and spending many hours laughing with his grandkids. His love language was cooking and loved to cook dishes that would soon become family traditions. He loved feeding people and when friends or family would oohhh or awe over his food it would put a smile on his face. Kevin was a loving husband, dedicated father, fun gramps, good friend and kind-hearted person. He will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his sons: Brendan Walsh and wife Megan and their son Callan, Conor Walsh and wife Kelli and their daughters, Nellie and Ruby; brother, Terri and wife Cynthia; close family friends Janice Statzer and Greg and Megan Kolsut, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Kevin is preceded in death by his parents John and Rosalie Walsh; his wife of 45 years Gerri Walsh; and close family friend Tom Statzer. Elizabeth Mann passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the age of 91 years. Known as Betty to all who knew and loved her, she was the third eldest child of eleven born to Jacob and Sophie (Mohr) Schmidt in Melville, SK. Betty received her education at Fairland and Melville View country schools. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melville, which was started up by her grandfather, Henry Schmidt, in 1907. She was confirmed there on March 30, 1947. Betty would tell many stories about growing up with hardship, hard work and lack of money, like when she would go to bed, which was in the attic, and she could see the stars in the night sky through the many cracks and holes in the roof or get wet by rain drops during a rain, or see the frost of your breath during the winter. Betty stayed with her parents on the farm and helped out until she was 19 years old. Then she moved to Melville and worked at the King George Hotel as a dish washer. Upon meeting her soulmate there, they fell in love at first sight and dated for two years; she married her one and only true love, Jack Mann, on June 28, 1953; he became her lifelong companion of 62 years. For three years, they lived in Melville. Then Jack received news that he was hired by GM in Oshawa, ON, in 1956. He moved first to get things ready for Betty, who at the time was pregnant with their first child, to come by train a few months later. Ronald Jack was born that same year on September 28 in Oshawa. Their second child, Deborah Lynn, was born on November 8, 1961, then their third, Brenda Lee, on March 1, 1965. Their life was blessed and complete. In 1969, because of health reasons, the family moved back to Saskatchewan and bought an acreage at Colmer just seven miles west of Melville. There they raised Jersey cows, chickens, geese, pigs and a couple of horses, and they had several enormous vegetable and flower gardens. Here Mom became a mother of the prairies with daily chores that started in the wee early mornings and continued until late in the evening. Every day, raising the three children was a priority, but other chores were a must as well, like hauling wood and splitting it to keep the wood bin full for daily use for the kitchen wood stove. Because there was no running water, this meant that any water needed in the house for everything had to be carried in by pails. The well was in the middle of the yard, and Betty had to pump to get the water. As far as the livestock, this manual pumping tested your endurance until they had enough. The bathroom was outside, which was okay in the summer, but the winter time was another story. When the seasons changed, extra chores were added to the already full routine, making hay and hauling it in, and also making wood for the winter months, which was hard work. Jack did help out with these enormous chores, too, but he worked on the highway that went past their place, seven janitorial jobs, and went to Yorkton to work as a welder. Their superb work ethic shone through for such local businesses as Renewable Resources, SGI and Sears, as well as St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Their loyal and excellent service was enjoyed by the Melville Credit Union, which was hard to give up after 17 years. The easy life Betty had in the big city of Oshawa was totally different from the farm life at Colmer, but through the strong love they shared as a family and their strong Christian faith, they pushed on. In 1981, Betty and Jack sold the Colmer farm and moved to Melville. Betty continued her love for baking, gardening, tending flowerbeds and entertaining. Betty was also there for neighbours and friends who needed help, and she volunteered at church for teas and funerals and as a Sunday school teacher. Betty loved sewing and making clothes for her family. Home decorating, painting and reupholstering were also passions. She loved fashion and always dressed in the best when she went out - classy dresses, hats and gloves, jewellery to match, red lipstick complementing her tanned skin, and her dark, curly hair styled just right. She was definitely a Patsy Cline lookalike on her dress-up days. Once all dolled up, Betty and Jack were ready to go dancing, entertain or play cards. Betty's family was always her pride and joy and took precedence over all else in her heart and mind. When her first and only grandchild was born in 1983, granddaughter Brennae Morrell, Betty and Jack babysat until Brennae started school. They really enjoyed looking after her and having her around. Then her first great-grandson, Jaxx, was born in 2014, then a second great-grandson, Knoxly, in 2020. Betty embraced and blossomed into her new roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother. In 2013, now in their 80s, Betty and Jack sold their house and moved into an apartment. After settling into apartment living for two years, Jack got cancer and passed away on May 18, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Betty stayed in their apartment for ten years and was very able to look after herself. She still loved to cook, bake, tend to her flowerpots now decorating her apartment patio, and drive her car. Betty was predeceased by nephews Alvin Schmidt and Paul Kenty; nieces Nancy Schmidt and Tillie Mann; father Jacob and mother Sophie (Mohr) Schmidt; brothers Gordon, Robert, George, Elmer and Ron; sister Janet Serfas; brothers-in-law Walter Zrudlo, Victor Dochuk, Laurence Schmidt and Hugh Kenty; sisters-in-law Lillian Schmidt, Tillie Schmidt, Marlene Schmidt and Betty Kenty; in-laws Emma and Henry Mann, Tillie Mann, Paul Kenty and Phillip Mann; and her beloved husband, Jack. She leaves to mourn: her son, Ronald (Pam) Mann; her daughters, Deborah (Rob) Morrell and Brenda (Brian) Cottrell; granddaughter Brennae (Jeremy) Smith; great-grandsons Jaxx and Knoxly Smith; step-grandson Andrew Cottrell (Brittney); brother Barry; sisters Shirley and Gladys; sisters-in-law Anna Sagan, Edna (Jim) Brock, Myra Schmidt and Bev Schmidt; many nieces, nephews and friends.
