| | Shirley Steggall age 83 of Decorah, IA, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Wellington Place in Decorah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Calmar Lutheran Church with Rev. Daryl Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p. m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the Calmar Lutheran Church and after 10:00 a. m. at the church on Monday morning. Shirley was born October 8, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Leota (Hunemuller) Woock. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo in 1957. She was united in marriage to Clarence Jr Steggall on September 13, 1959. Through their 63 years of marriage, the family resided in Waterloo, Readlyn, Spillville and Decorah. Their union was blessed with four children. She worked at Luther College Dining Services and retired after 20 years of employment. Shirley was a member of Calmar Lutheran Church, Calmar, Iowa where she was the WELCA President for 15 years. Shirley will be remembered as kind, witty and always willing to give her unfiltered opinions. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her life included her love for sewing, quilting, cooking & baking (which led to her writing her own cookbook) but her life revolved around her family and faith. Shirley and Clarence would always welcome their home and assistance to anyone in need. Shirley's memory is honored by her husband, Clarence, and four children, Arlyn (Deb Kouri) Steggall of Boynton Beach Florida, Susan (Dan Rosel) Carolan of Decorah, Chris (Kim) Steggall of Waverly and Kurt Steggall of Hopkinton; six grandchildren, Tracy (Nathan) Leistikow, Tiffany (Brennan) Swayzer, Brianna (Ryan) Waite, Brandon (Tashina) Steggall, Nathan (Gracie) Steggall and Sarah (Brock) Christianson; twelve great grandchildren, Claire & Carver Leistikow, KingSton, Tiarra & Zwei Swayzer, Hadley & Colton Waite, Jayla, Peyton & Zola Steggall and Griffin & Colt Christianson; two brothers Laverne Woock & Roger (Diane) Woock and one sister Janet Thomas; three sisters-in-law Jenna Stearns, Lois Olson and Marian Jensen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Michael Joseph Leistikow, and sisters-in-law Sandy Woock and Lonny Chevalier, brothers-in-laws Robert Dahms, Edwin Dams, Edward Dams and Jerry Steggall and niece Tempest Woock.
