Shirley Turner Schweitzer, 87, passed peacefully into heaven on December 23, 2022. Shirley was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 16, 1935 to Sally and Andy Turner, was a lifelong Christian, and met her future husband, Jack Schweitzer, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Richmond. Shirley and Jack were the quintessential couple and enjoyed a long and happy life together. From Richmond, they moved to Woodbridge and later to Stafford, spending 40 years there. Shirley was a fixture at the Stafford County Office of Construction and Code compliance for over 30 years. The Schweitzers made many trips to Staffordshire, England, Stafford's sister city. Easygoing and fun, she developed lasting friendships her entire life. Shirley is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jack Schweitzer; children Sally Cox (John), Jay (Marvin) and James (Ewa); three grandchildren, Kate Cox, Jocelyn Schweitzer and James Schweitzer, Jr. ; sister Sonya Heath; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 9th, 2023 at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Remembrances may be made to the Virginia State School for Boys and Girls, or Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
