"Shirley J. Juarez, 78, passed away on April 16th, 2023. She was born on May 30th, 1946 in Strongsville, Ohio to the late Joseph and Violet Pitonak. Shirley attended Berea Midpark High School, graduating in 1964. She then continued her education at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, obtaining degrees in Business and Psychology. Shirley also obtained her Juris Doctorate Degree from Whittier College School of Law in Costa Mesa, California in 1984. Throughout her professional career, she was a Director at the National Education Center, Ernst \u0026amp; Young, and Administrative Assistant for Program Development at Baldwin Wallace University, and a Member of California Public Defenders Association, a private practice she worked at for 33 years. Shirley was admitted to the Bar in the state of California in 1986, the Ohio State Supreme Court in 2009, and was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, and the California State Bar Association. She married Albert Juarez on January 20th, 1996. They have been married for 27 years. Together they created \u0026quot;Cultural Advocates Uniting In Special Efforts\u0026quot; - a non- profit organization working with at- risk youth and adults that has been recognized by the California State Assembly (Districts 50 and 61), the California Senate (District 24), United States Congress (District 35), and California State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In Shirley\u0027s free time, she enjoyed reading, writing, and editing screenplays. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, collecting keys and owls, and traveling. Shirley was a compassionate and caring person who touched many lives. She is loved by many and will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband, Albert Juarez; children Peter (Anicristy) Laub, Michelle Laub Jacobson, and Erin (Ivory) Juarez-Thomas; siblings Janice Krisko (Ronald), Curtis Pitonak (Sheri), Daniel Pitonak (Pam), and Gary Pitonak: and grandchildren Vanessa, Charlotte, Emilia, Ashley, and Andrew. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-son Albert Martin Juarez; and siblings Virginia Jean Olen, Nancy Pitonak, and James Pitonak.
