Shirley Louise Froome (nee Mason), 95, died June 21, 2022. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Shirley was one of eleven children. She moved to Wichita, Kansas, when she and John R. Froome III married in 1953. Her faith carried her through life, especially after the death of her husband. For years she was active as a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she volunteered at the parish school and its library, as a Eucharistic minister, as sacristan, with the RCIA program, and at the perpetual adoration chapel, as well as The Lord's Diner. She was a devoted mother to her eight children, and after her husband died in 1977, she continued to raise five children on her own. She was happy that each of her children graduated from college. She was preceded in death by her husband John, nine of her siblings, and grandson Cole Peterson. Survivors include her sister, Mary Grace Coddington of Cincinnati, daughters Sally Queen (Roger) of Waxahachie, Texas, Mary Jane Duling (Ron) of Wichita, Nancy Froome (Barbara) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Anne Martin (Mark) of Olathe, and Emily Peterson (Jason) of Wichita, and sons John IV (Lynnette) of Salina, Charles of Wichita, and Richard of Overland Park, as well as 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Patrick's Altar Society or The Lord's Diner. The family wishes to thank Good Shephard Hospice for their care of Shirley.
