Shirley Ann FischerBorn January 12, 1929 on the family farm in Hooper, NE to Fred & Clara Wolf. She was baptized on January 27th by Pastor Ernest Eckhart at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended public school until 6th grade then transferred to Immanuel Lutheran School and was confirmed there. She graduated from Hooper High School in 1946. Talked her dad into allowing her to leave the farm and go to Omaha to attend secretarial school as long as she came home every weekend to help farm. She graduated in 1948 and began working at Lutheran Family Services in Omaha. She was employed there for 7 years until she married Clarence Fischer April 5, 1953. They then moved to Addison, IL for Clarence's job until drafted April, 1955. Judith was born December 26, 1953. Moved to Lompoc, CA and started Bethany Lutheran church there with new friends. Jane was born April 25, 1956. Clarence was discharged from the Army April, 1957 and moved to Detroit, MI where her husband was employed at Lutheran Children's Friend Society. Jolene born June 5, 1959. Shirley worked part-time for St. Peter's Home for Boys while caring for the girls. Later moved to Family Services of Detroit. They were members of Nativity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and various other activities. Moved from Detroit to Redford, MI in 1966 and then transferred to Hosanna Tabor Lutheran Church. Both of them remained active in various organizations. Moved to Birch Run, MI in 1985 due to a job transfer and began another Lutheran Church (St. Martin Lutheran) and were very active members. After Clarence's death she eventually moved to South Lyon, MI in 1999 to be near her 3 daughters (all live 3 miles from each other). In 2019 she moved to Oakmont Independent Senior Apartments, Northville. Her hobbies include watching football and basketball, especially Michigan and Nebraska games, playing harmonica and crocheting. For 40 years she helped care for her oldest granddaughter with special needs, Joelle, singing songs and constantly making noises for her. She always enjoyed family visits to Birch Run and visits to the cottage on Bass Lake, East Tawas. Shirley is survived by daughters Judith Fischer, her sons Zachary Wollack, and Matthew and Jennifer Wollack, Jane and Mark Einem, their children Joelle Einem, Kristi and Arden Smith, Braelyn, Everly, and Harlow, Jeremy and Caley Einem, Mia and Riley, and Jolene and Kevin Westfall, Jayme and Matthew Niehaus, Camden, Hadley, and Reagan, and Jessica Kok. Many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, her sister, Elaine and brother, Raymond and sister-in-law, Arnita, and many Fischer sisters and brother-in-law's. *Written by ShirleyVisitation will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm (7:00pm - 8:00pm sharing of memories) at Phillips Funeral Home, 122 West Lake Street, South Lyon MI 48178.
