Shirley was born in Sargent, NE, and moved to Panama, NE, in 1939. She graduated from Panama H. S. , Nebraska Wesleyan College and then taught in a small country school. Shirley married Glen George Engle in 1949, when son Rex Charles Engle was born. The family moved to Lincoln in 1954. She began working at several Churches as a secretary for over 50 years. Shirley also taught many piano students and played piano/organ at churches. She also had foster kids-3 boy, 1 girl and was a Cub Scout Leader. A devoted Christian and Sunday School Leader. Shirly was a member of Panama Presbyterian, Eastridge Presbyterian, Hope Reformed, and St. John's Reformed Churches. She will be sorely missed. Family members include her son Rex, Paula, and Jason Engle; 3 daughters; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Preceded in death by her parents Harry V. and Veda M. Sharp, siblings Maurice Sharp, Charles Rex Sharp, and Virginia Bentley. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Friday, June 24th at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel (4300 'O' Street).
