Shirley Ann Eads, a loving, faith-filled, Wife, Mother and Grandmother, was born on September 22, 1947, in Bloomington, Indiana, and passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, in the same beloved town. She was called home by the Lord after a life well-lived, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was 75 years old. Shirley was a devoted wife to her husband of 53 years, James Eads. The two met in their youth and spent many cherished years raising a family together. Their love story is one for the ages, filled with laughter, joy, and an unbreakable bond. Shirley's love for her family was boundless, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come. Shirley is survived by her husband, James Eads. Five children, Ara Ranae Eads of Bloomington, Marsha Marker (Leroy), James Eads, Jr. (Christina) all of Spencer, Chloe Eads, and Anthony Eads of Bloomington. She was a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Aaron Eads, Taylor Brinegar (Kyle), Alex Eads, Jordan Swain (David), and Jared Eads, all of Bloomington. Her great-grandchildren, Eller and Elara Brinegar, and Ayliyah, Emrys, and Eira Swain, all of Bloomington, will carry her memory in their hearts. Shirley was one of thirteen children, and she is survived by six brothers, James Hostetler (Mary), Thomas Hostetler (Alice), Donald Hostetler, Archie Hostetler, Fred Hostetler (Marilyn) all of Bloomington, and William Hostetler (Cathy) of Solsberry. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, who will remember her as a loving and caring aunt. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Hostetler and Eula Pearl (Kerr) Hostetler; brothers, Warren Hostetler and Robert Hostetler; sisters, Inez Duncan, Jean Livingston, Mary Moore, and Virginia Long. Shirley's strong work ethic and dedication to her career were evident throughout her life. She worked at Columbia House for over twenty-five years and retired from Cook Inc. after seven years of service. Her colleagues and friends from work will remember her as a hardworking and reliable team member who always had a kind word and a smile to share. Shirley's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the Southside Christian Church, where she attended as faithfully as she could. She loved going to church and cherished her church family. Her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her unwavering belief in the Lord was a testament to her strong spirit. Shirley was also a proud member of the American Legion, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship of her fellow members. Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 and Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Southside Christian Church on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
