She remained a lifelong resident of Franklin County.Gladys worked for many years at the former Hearthstone Restaurant in Metamora, and had also cleaned homes.She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brookville. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Carol Jarrell, and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2003.David was retired, having worked for many years in industrial maintenance, most recently at Delta Faucet. In his leisure time he enjoyed HAM radio, and taking care of his pets. Brent M. Gesell, age 41, of Brookville, died Friday, February 9, 2024. Born January 26, 1983 in Oxford, Ohio, he was the loving son of Jackie (Boggs) Gesell. He grew up in Brookville, where he attended school and was a top athlete in wrestling and football, eventually transferring to Union County High School where he graduated in 2001. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy right after high school, and served as a gunners mate in Iraq until his discharge in 2005.He worked in Concrete Construction for several years. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and working outside.He was united in marriage to Bambi Nicholson, and she survives.Besides his wife, Bambi, survivors include a son, Dominic Gesell of Liberty, Indiana; his sister Britney Gesell of Brookville, Indiana; his mother & step-father, Jackie & Doug Gesell of Brookville, Indiana as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merlin & Mildred Gesell, and Arnold & Anna Boggs, as well as three aunts, Phyllis Smith, Shirley Race and Deborah Smith.Private services will be conducted with burial following in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Klemmes Corner, Indiana.Memorial Contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery or Community Mental Health Center. Sylvia Huber Precht, age 90, of Brookville, Indiana died Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville, following a lengthy illness.Born August 16, 1933 in Franklin County, Indiana she was one of three children born to the late Alfred F. & Mabel Alice (Hoff) Huber. She graduated with honors from the former Springfield Township High School with the class of 1951. On July 5, 1963 she was united in marriage to Carl Donald Precht, and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1999. Sylvia was retired having worked for over 40 years at Sperry Rubber & Plastics in Brookville. In her leisure time she enjoyed Bluegrass music & attending Joe Mullins Southern Ohio Indoor Bluegrass Festival in Wilmington, Ohio and Bill Monroe’s Music Festival at Bean Blossom, as well as the Metamora Performing Arts Festival featuring Bluegrass & Country Music. She also loved to attend the Renfro Valley Barn Dance & Jamboree at Renfro Valley, Kentucky. She took extreme pride in her home and meticulous lawn, tending to her flowers and mowing her grass. She was also quite famous for her delectable, made from scratch angel food cakes, that were quite popular at social gatherings and dinners. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Franklin County Historical Society, Blooming Grove Home Economics Club, A.D.O. Card Club, Brookville Red Hats Society, Franklin County Republican Women’s Club, Blooming Grove Craft Club, Brookville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Delta Theta Tau (Delts) Sorority, Housing for Urban Development government program, secretary of the Springfield Township parent teacher organization as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Brookville where she had been secretary. She had also served as a Blooming Grove Township Committee person for many years, serving as a clerk for many primary and general elections. Survivors include a brother, Marvin G. Huber of Brookville, Indiana, a step-son, Michael Precht of Bluffton, South Carolina; granddaughter, Kelli Rudisell of Brookville, Indiana and dear friends and neighbors, Lee & Carolyn Hulm of Blooming Grove, Indiana.In addition to her parents, and husband Donald, she was preceded in death by a dear sister, Viola M. Huber, a brother & sister-in-law, Edward & Ruth Merrill; as well as her daughter-in-law, Sherry Swales, and step-daughter Dawn Precht.Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.Rev. In his leisure time he enjoyed nature, particularly hiking in the Smoky Mountains, spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing his guitar and listening to music, and was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church, where he had been a member of the Church Choir. Josh (Poppa) Brown, age 43, of Brookville, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2024 after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease. He was born November 11, 1980 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son to Donald and Melinda Kluemper Brown. Josh enjoyed fishing, chess, and wrestling. He was a huge fan of both Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with friends.Survivors include, one sister April (Larry) Gabbard, one brother Jessie (Tara) Brown, close friends Lori Scott and TJ Emery, significant other Sharon Schuler, nieces Brooklyn and Shaylin, nephews Peyton, Nolan, Evan and great-nephew Ashton. Also surviving are uncles, Phil (Cindy) Brown, Kenny (Linda) Brown, and John (Vicki) Waltz, aunts Jan (Harley) Orr, and Marcia (Jackie, deceased) Berry, and Amy (Tim) Mullin and several close cousins and friends he considered family. Joshua Alan Schwegman, of Brookville, was born on June 14, 1982 in Oxford, Ohio, a son to Vernon “Ernie” and Phyllis Amrhein Schwegman. He was a 2001 graduate of Franklin County High School and attended Ball State University and Cincinnati State. He worked in CAD drawing and was an avid sports fan – particularly of the Bengals and IU basketball. Josh was known as the captain of the St. Peter’s Yacht Club, and he loved being with that group. He enjoyed woodworking, frying chicken, classic cars, swap meets, and listening to the love of his life, Shannon, sing. His other favorite music included Sammy Kershaw, Jimmy Buffett, Blackhawk and Shannon Amber. On Monday, February 19, 2024 at the age of 41, he passed away unexpectedly at his residence. Those surviving who will cherish Josh’s memory include his parents, Ernie and Phyllis Schwegman; sister and brother-in-law, Joni and Ben Goins; fiancé Shannon Jaehnen; niece and nephews, Hudson, Madelyn and Nolan Goins, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Alberta Amrhein, and Orville and Marjorie Schwegman; uncles, Timothy Barry, Thomas Suding and Wayne Halcomb; one cousin, Jenni Biltz, and one of his best friends, Derik “Bub” Orschell.Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.
