Shirley Anderson Obituary

Shirley (Wortman) Anderson passed away September 9, 2023 at the age of 94 (one day before her 95th birthday). She was born in Somerville, NJ graduating from Somerville High School in 1946 and Green Mountain College in 1948. She left a career in banking to marry Carl Anderson and raise a family. They settled in Bridgewater, NJ and with her daughters in school, she returned to banking. She managed the Somerset Savings and Loan in Somerville. Shirley was a talented seamstress, loved needlework and knitting. She was an avid bridge player and took up golf in her seventies. She adored all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Carl Anderson. Surviving is her daughters Cathy (Ron) Fulop, Karen (Tom) Whitmore, and Barbara (Phil) Caporaso, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Services will be private under the direction of Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville.
