Ning Lai (Fu) Chang, known to many as "Unya", passed away peacefully at her home in Solana Beach on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was 105 years old. Ning Lai was born in Ding Hai, Zhejiang, China, the oldest of 8 children. She was arranged to marry Jackson Zang Shing Chang at age 15 and gave birth to her son, John, soon after. They moved to Northern California in 1954. She lived with her extended family in Solana Beach since 1976. The funeral service for Ning Lai will begin at noon on Saturday, May 20th, at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley. 5600 Carroll Canyon Road San Diego, CA 92121 (858) 453-2121 There will be 2 opportunities for visitation. The first will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday, May 19th at El Camino Memorial. The second visitation will precede the funeral service, from 10-noon on Saturday, May 20th. The graveside service will follow the funeral on Saturday. Please join us in celebrating Unya doing what she enjoyed most - party! Supper will immediately follow the graveside service (3-6 pm). She is preceded in death by her husband Jackson Chang (Dec 1991), her son John Chang (Sept 2015), and Granddaughter Julia Chang (Jan 2010).
