"NORFOLK - Memorial service for Shellie M. Kucera, 59, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Reverend Randy Rasmussen will be officiating the service. A visitation will take place from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 also at the funeral home in Norfolk. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Shellie died on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home in Norfolk surrounded by her family and friends. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. "

Edward David "Dave" Jenkinson, 69, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, December 1, 2023, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 10:30 AM,, at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Rempfer officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and continue Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested as those of family or donor's choice. Edward David "Dave" Jenkinson was born October 5, 1954, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Edward and Eva (Taylor) Jenkinson. He grew up on a farm near Monroe, Nebraska, attended Platte County District 20 grade school, Monroe grade school, and graduated from Monroe High School in 1973. On May 26, 1973, Dave was united in marriage to Christine Schmid at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Dave went on to attend Kearney State College to become a teacher and coach but moved back to Monroe to take over the family farm. Dave farmed the majority of his life. He drove a school bus for Monroe for 24 years and worked at Gerhold Concrete for 20 years. He enjoyed watching the Husker football games, loved to farm, attending and participating in drag races, and spending time with family and friends. "NEWMAN GROVE -- Funeral service for Myron "Mike" Jay Nelson, 86, of Newman Grove, will be held at 10:30 a. m. , Monday, November 13, 2023 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE. Rev. Claire Meyer will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in rural Newman Grove. Visitation will be 3-6:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 12th also at the church. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 73 and United States Army Honor Guard. Mike passed away on November 7, 2023 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Mike was born August 15, 1937 to Walter and Ida (Otis) Nelson in rural Newman Grove, Nebraska. Mike attended rural Madison County elementary school until 8th grade, and graduated from Newman Grove High school in 1955. After high school, he completed one year at Norfolk Junior College. Mike then joined the US Army Reserves for almost eight years. During his service, he trained in radio communications which led to his career at WJAG Radio Station as the farm director. He was known around Northeast Nebraska as "Radio Mike. " He left the radio station to farm with his dad on the family farm. He had a passion of collecting International tractors, which turned into eight International tractors and a 1928 Model A, which was in turn was his first vehicle. Mike also collected eagles and windmills. You could find him at almost all the area parades with his tractors and Model A. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. If you didn't find Mike in the field with his cows or around his tractors, you could find him at a cattle or farm sale. Mike was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and later joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. He was on the Trinity Lutheran Church council and read scripture at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home for many years. He was actively involved in many organizations which included: Norfolk Jaycees, Farm Bureau, Madison County Fair Board, Madison County Extension Board, Gideons International - Norfolk Chapter, and in the Orphan Grain Train Organization as a driver with friend, Harlan King, District 97 School Board, the Newman Grove City Council and the Madison County Cattlemen's Association. Mike married Betty Jane Leu on August 16, 1959 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born: Jody Rae, Jay D and Joey Jene. Dennis McCloud joined the Nelson family in 1973. Survivors include his spouse Betty; daughter, Jody (Barry) Johnson; sons, Jay (Barbie 'Bub') Nelson, Joey (Renata) Nelson, Dennis (Jeanie) McCloud; grandchildren Jennie (Anthony) Krueger, Jaime (Eric) Reichmuth, Jesse (Samantha) Johnson, Benjamin (Anna) Nelson, Kevin (Abbie) Nelson, Jordan (Alyssa) Nelson, Alyssa (Eric) Moon, Stephanie (Bobby) McKinnis, Josh (Michelle) McCloud, Abbie (Branden) Murray, Katie (Bo) Brummels; thirty-four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Norma Monson and Myrna Higgins; brother in laws, Earl Monson, Jerry Higgins, Larry Russell and Gene Leu; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Russell. Organist will be Peggy Patzel and soloist will be Ray Herbert. Casket bearers will be Eric Reichmuth, Jesse Johnson, Benjamin Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Jordan Nelson, and Josh McCloud. Funeral services for Nicholas. K. Voichoskie, age 18, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 2:00 p. m. Monday, November 13, 2023, at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue, in Norfolk. Reverend Chris Asbury will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements. Nicholas died Thursday, November 9, 2023. Nicholas Kayton Voichoskie, son of Troy J. Voichoskie and Jeanne M. Follette, was born April 19, 2005, in Norfolk. Nebraska. He attended Jefferson Elementary School and graduated from Norfolk High School with the class of 2023. While in high school, Nicholas was a member of Norfolk High School band, where he played the flute. He was currently attending Northeast Community College in Norfolk studying information technology. He was a member of the Community Band at Northeast, again playing the flute. Nicholas lived most of his lifetime in Norfolk. He had worked at Rasing Canes for over two years. He enjoyed being outdoors, going for walks, and laying on the trampoline watching the stars. Nicholas loved listening to music and attending concerts. He especially loved going hunting with his grandpa and spending time with family and friends. Nicholas is survived by his girlfriend, Kalysa Gemaehlich of Norfolk; mother, Jeanne Follette of Lincoln; father, Troy Voichoskie of Norfolk; brother, Jon Follette of Norfolk; sister, Cheyenne Gibbions of Ames, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Sandra Follette of Norfolk; paternal grandmother, Cindy Voichoskie of Norfolk; three nieces, Aaliyah, Raelyn, and Thea Follette; and numerous aunts and uncles.
