Shelley Lucas, 42, from Prentiss, MS, passed away on June 13, 2022. She was born on March 21, 1980, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Charles and Christie (Mathis) Waddell. She graduated from Collins High School and attended Jones Junior College. Over the years, she worked as a CNA, church and school secretary, waitress and other various jobs. She was currently employed at Autozone in Prentiss. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, mother and wife. She was a Christian and a member of the Methodist faith. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. Shelley is survived by her husband, James "Luke" Lucas of Prentiss; two sons, Colton McDonald and Evan McDonald of Collins, MS; two daughters, Rainey McDonald and Lily McDonald of Collins, MS; her parents, Charles Waddell (Kathy) of Collins, MS, and Christie Mathis Waddell of Slidell, LA; one sister, Rhiannon Waddell Williams of Slidell, LA; and step-grandfather, Danny Broadhead of Stonewall, MS and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, River Ann Catherine Lucas; paternal grandparents, James and Clara Waddell; maternal grandparents, Horace Mathis and Shirley Mathis Broadhead. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Southern Memorial Gardens in Magee, MS at 11:00 am with Brother Tim Beard officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody Eubanks, Rusty Fraysur, Daniel Mosely, Braden Purvis, Dan McDonald and Joel Waddell. The honorary pallbearer will be Jack Daugherty. Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
