Peggy Chryst Dean, passed away in her home on November 23, 2023 at the age of 73. Peggy was known for her love of reading and deep interest in the details of her loved ones lives. To know her was to love her. Peggy’s booming voice and laugh that could fill a room were characteristic of her larger than life personality and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her. As a young woman, Peggy loved riding horses and had a passion for barrel racing. She spoke fondly of these memories in later years. Peggy was a skilled chef with a great love for cooking and the story is that she made a mean rum cake! Many of her recipes will remain in use for years to come. Among her other loves in life were music (emphasis on the term "oldie but goodie"), movies, shopping, good conversations, excessive organization, and chocolate! Peggy’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence, and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she spent on this earth. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Juniel Chryst, and brother, Scott Chryst. Peggy is survived by her children, Cameron Dean & Shantell (Matt) Cleverly, her grandchildren, Sydnie & Austin Cleverly, her sisters, Dianne (Pat) Ormond, Karen (Mark) Stabler, Lynett (Ben) Walker, Darl Chryst (Mike Watkiss), her brother Dell (Cheri) Chryst, all things purple, and her collection of sparkly things! "Ike" Lougy

November 22, 2023

Our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend completed his earthly mission and has returned home to his Heavenly Father after a short battle with lung cancer. Although our hearts are filled with sorrow at his passing, we are forever grateful to have had him in our lives, and are comforted in knowing we will see him again. He was raised and grew up in Grantsville. He had great athletic abilities and played many sports during his high school years with football being his favorite. After high school he joined the Navy and after serving for a short time was honorably discharged. He married the love of his life, Coralie Washburn Lougy on June 8th 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. The two then built their home on Quirk Street in Grantsville, where they raised their three daughters, Kathryn, Teresa, and Sharon. He worked in numerous places around the county, some of which include, Solar Salt, US Magnesium, Hercules, and finished out his career at Tooele Army Depot, where he retired. During his time at US Magnesium he finished 4 years of college to obtain a degree as a Millwright. Ike was an avid hunter throughout his life. He has many animals he claimed for himself with his most prized being his 6 point trophy Bull Elk, which he named ‘Sir Henry’. Sir Henry was strategically placed on the wall to greet family and share his space in his favorite room, where he watched TV in his favorite recliner chair. He also spent much time in his den where there were many more unique mounts that he enjoyed. He loved the great outdoors in any capacity. Many fond memories were made while camping and fishing with his family. He and Coralie loved to travel. They enjoyed many fun trips together and with extended family and friends. He loved his wife and spoiled her every chance he got. One of his very favorite things to do was dance with her and she loved it as much as he did. He was a wonderful dancer with a feel for music unlike most. They danced to the beat of Elvis Presley more than any other, as this was his favorite. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over the years he gained a strong testimony of the gospel and he faithfully honored his priesthood. One of his favorite callings was working in the baptistry in the Salt Lake Temple with Coralie. They were blessed to serve in that capacity right up until the last day it closed for renovation. Family was his pride and joy! He was proud of each and every one of his posterity and he would often say at family gatherings, "Coralie, look what we started". If ever a scripture could capture her so well, it would be this: A big thank you to all the people who helped care for Sharyn. Lacy and Sarah, Susan, and everyone else who made her life a little easier. A very special thanks to Hudson. "You brought out the youthful Sharyn and a big toothless smile every time you stopped by".
