Shawn M. Schoen, 41, of Saint Marys, died 5:15 P. M. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at St Ritas Medical Center, following a year long illness. He was born August 6, 1982, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Gary and Donna (Clay) Schoen. He married Stacy Daniel on July 30, 2005, in Saint Marys, and she survives in Saint Marys with their three daughters: Hannah Schoen, Peyton Schoen and Emery Schoen. He is also survived by his father, Gary (Deb) Schoen of Wapakoneta; by his two brothers: Josh Schoen of Spencerville and Jay Schoen of Anna. He is also survived by Stacy's parents, Edmund and Carmen Daniel of Saint Marys. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Odenweller; by his niece, Emily Schoen. Shawn attended high school in Wapakoneta and was employed as a group leader at Nidec Minster. He was a member of Flagship Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Marys. He loved motorcycles and cars-especially Jeeps-and also watching superhero movies with his kids. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A. M. Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, with Shawn's father-in-law, Pastor Edmund Daniel, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. She had worked as a protection associate for Classic Delight and AAP Corp. in St. Marys. In addition, she provided child care for many families. Her favorite pastimes included BINGO, watching game shows on television, and supporting Cincinnati Bengals and OSU Buckeyes football programs. More than anything else, she treasured the time that she spent with her family. OBITUARY Shirley Hanelle Huckeriede, 87, of St. Marys, OH passed away at 4:30 a. m. on Tuesday November 21. 2023 at Vancrest of St. Marys. She was born January 26, 1936 in Botkins, OH to Henry Herman and Hattie (Stienecker) Kuck. On May 5, 1956 she married Robert W. Huckeriede, who died December 9, 2011. On August 2, 2014 she was then joined to James Niemeyer in a Christian Commitment Relationship service. James passed away on February 10, 2016. She retired from Bank One, where she worked as a teller for many years. In addition, she assisted her husband, Bob, with the operation of Huckeriede Lawn Service. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir and was part of the Search, Evangelism and Community committees. Her favorite pastimes included playing card games (Bridge, Euchre, Sheephead and Pinochle). She also enjoyed taking cruises and road trips, having visited each of the 50 states along with her husbands. Rites are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p. m. on Friday November 24, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Final resting place will be the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Visitation 1:00 - 4:00 p. m. on Friday at the funeral home. Dorothy "Dot" Eileen Silver, 83, of St. Marys, OH died 1:30 P. M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Vancrest of St. Marys, with her loving family at her bedside. She was born January 25, 1940 in St. Marys, OH to Donald and Opal (Henne) Wright. On January 21, 1961 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, she married Berry G. Silver, who died March 27, 2016. Survivors include: Son, Sean (Teresa) Silver of St. Marys, OH Son, Aaron (Amy) Silver of Shepherdsville, KY Grandchildren: Joshua (Candice) Silver, Kyle (Stephanie) Silver, Allison Silver, Ashley (Matt) Luthman, Adam Silver 7 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by: parents Donald and Opal Wright; husband Berry Silver; brother Donald (Maxine) Wright; brother-in-law M. Thomas (Barbara) Silver. She was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1958) and St. Rita's School of Nursing in Lima, OH. A registered nurse at JTDM Hospital, she was unit manager of Coronary Care/Intensive Care for many years. A skilled caregiver, she bonded with both patients and co-workers at the hospital. Dedicated to others, Dorothy was a board member of Auglaize Co. Health Department and Auglaize Co. Council on Aging and volunteered for the Grand Lake Health System Outreach Program. She was a state representative and board member for the Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio. In addition, she was an instructor for EMT - Paramedic Advanced Cardiac Life Support classes, helping countless first responders attain and maintain certification. She was a loyal fan of St. Marys Roughriders and OSU Buckeye sports programs. Dorothy was a dedicated public servant who strived to what was best for her community. Her favorite pastimes included traveling, square dancing, and spoiling her children. More than anything else, she treasured the time she was able to spend with her family and many close friends. Irene T. Makley was born May 31, 1926 at Cranberry Prairie, Ohio to Aloys and Olive (Hemmelgarn) Huwer. She passed away on Monday October 9, 2023, as her daughter and son-in-law held her hands. Soon after her birth she was nicknamed "Sweet". This nickname proved true for 97+ years. Family, faith, friends; being kind, honest and humble guided her life. Irene grew up on a dairy farm in Cranberry Prairie with 5 siblings. She learned the value of hard work and enjoyed milking cows by hand before school each day. She graduated from St Henry High School in 1944. After graduation she moved to Dayton, Ohio and worked for the Dayton -Xenia Railway Co. On July 19, 1952 she married Andy Makley from St. Marys Ohio. Before her daughter Ann was born on November 25, 1958, she worked for Burke Insurance. She then remained home to raise her daughter and became more involved with Holy Rosary Church. When Ann went to college, she worked and eventually retired from Tom Shelby and Co. Ann was fortunate to be born into a loving family and was surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and 42 cousins from the Huwer and Makley families. Later Ann, her husband Mark, Irene and Andy enjoyed many trips together out west. In 2018 when Irene's husband died after almost 66 years of marriage, she moved to Otterbein St. Marys. She resided there for 5 years and was loved by all of the Otterbein staff and Hospice staff who treated her with dignity and respect. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Makley, son- in-law, Mark Baudendistel, her brothers Bill Huwer (Rita), Harry Huwer (Thelma), her sister Joan (Huwer) Shivers, and 38 living nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma (Huwer) Sweeterman and Dolores (Huwer) Gels. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, October 20, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, Father John Tonkin, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 P. M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys.
