Vada L. Hickman, 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2024. Vada was born February, 14th, 1948 and was everyone’s special Valentine. She was full of life, had an infectious smile, and never met a stranger. Vada enjoyed many things in life including her pets, West Virginia University football, the Steelers, and the color purple. She loved street racing her Impala and Chevelle, which is how she made so many friends with the local police. As a graduate of Washington Irving High School and West Virginia Business College, she worked in hospitality and construction, and then enjoyed a long career as the Medical Administrative Assistant at the Veterans Administration Hospital, helping those who served our country. Vada was preceded in death by parents, Thomas Coy Hickman and Margaret Knight Hickman, siblings, Jack, Tommy, Betty and Bill, and her beloved dog Chauncey. Vada is survived by sisters-in-laws, Wilma Hickman, Ada Hickman and their families; her Ohio Hickman’s, Richard, Christie, Tommy and Katie (Daniel) Nahra; and lifelong friends Bev and Bobbie Kramer. She brought laughter, love and joy into the lives of all who knew her. Per her request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your favorite charity. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Rosewood Center in Grafton for their care and kindness during her stay. A Letter From Heaven by Alena Hakala Meadows When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes, filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today, while thinking of many things we didn’t get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart. Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport
