COURTESY POSTING FOR ALMON FUNERAL HOME OF CARROLLTONConsidered by family and friends as a sweet angel, Claire Culpepper Williams, has left behind her earthly struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and entered her Heavenly home. Claire died peacefully in the early morning hours on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Thanks to Tanner Hospice, her last days were pain free and comfortable.Claire was born September 1,1949 in Americus, Georgia. She grew up in Cordele, Georgia as part of a loving family. Claire graduated Crisp County High School in 1967 and attended Valdosta State College from 1967-1971. While in college, Claire was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority, served as President of the Panhellenic Council and was voted Best Dressed Coed.After college, Claire married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Ronnie Williams. That same year Claire started her elementary teaching career in the Dougherty County Schools. Claire had a gift for teaching young children and throughout her career demonstrated compassion and devotion to the children she taught.Claire and Ronnie started a family in 1974 with the birth of their daughter Virginia Lynn Williams. A son, Matthew Perry Williams, arrived in 1977. Both children were blessed with a devoted, kind and loving mother.Throughout her life Claire cultivated friendships in every place she and Ronnie lived. She enjoyed playing in bridge clubs, singing in church choirs, teaching Vacation Bible School and socializing with couple friends. In addition Claire loved going to the beach and traveling.In 1994, Claire and Ronnie found their forever home in Carrollton, Georgia when Ronnie became Superintendent of the Carrollton City Schools. With their family in Carrollton, their church and many dear friends, they decided to stay in Carrollton after Ronnie’s retirement in 2001.In 2016, Claire was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She battled this difficult illness with grace, bravery and an unwavering positive attitude. Never complaining of her plight, Claire continued to help others by being a role model for how to deal with adversity and a chronic illness.Claire’s legacy will be in part her beautiful smile and sweet spirit, her faith in God, her children and grandchildren whom she loved so much, and her lifelong love affair with her husband Ronnie.Claire was preceded in death by her loving parents, Perry and Virginia Fletcher Culpepper. She is survived by her caring husband of 52 years, Ronnie; her daughter, Virginia Williams Bell, her husband John Bell, their three children, Jacob, Andrew and Evelyn Bell; a son, Matthew Perry Williams, his wife Jessica, and Matthew’s daughter Isabella Williams. In addition, Claire leaves behind her brother, Perry Melton Culpepper, Jr. of Cordele and his wife Jeri.The family wishes to thank Tonya Spinks and her group of West GA Caregivers for their outstanding care of Claire. Specifically, we acknowledge Judy Johnson, Emily Tuggle, Esther Makandah, and Rose Jordan. A special thank you to Tomeka Baker who was Claire’s first caregiver.The family further extends a heart felt thank you to Rose Jordan who was Claire’s primary caregiver in the last stage of her life. Rose was a saint and took extraordinary care of Claire and did it with a high level of love, devotion and compassion.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 3 pm in Carrollton at First Baptist Church at 102 Dixie Street. Christopher “Chris” Michael Weldon, age 29, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away in an automobile accident on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born December 15, 1994, the son of Linda Wyatt Blackmon and the late Gary Steven Weldon.Chris graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 2013 and went on to attend West Georgia Technical College. He worked as a painter with Doug Thornton and loved to work on cars in his spare time. Chris was a true family man. He loved his children, was a true “mama’s boy,” and enjoyed spending time with his family above anything else. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Destany Peige Shadix Weldon; son, Will Weldon; daughter, Maci Weldon; his step-father who raised him as his own, William Blackmon; brothers & sisters-in-law, Steven & Angelina Weldon and Casey & Ashley Weldon; sister & brother-in-law, Jessica & Mar Dukes; grandparents, Brenda & Curtis Edson; nieces & nephew whom he loved as his own, Patience Weldon, Emma Weldon, and Nicholaus Hatcher; nieces and nephews, Avery Weldon, Katlin Weldon, Isabella Weldon, Kaylynn Crown, Carter Lovvorn, Colin Lovvorn, Clayton Lovvorn, Leaniya McCormick, and Reagan Swanger; aunts and uncles, Jena Heard, Tabatha White, Cheryl Collins, Michael & Felicia Collins, and Mark Weldon; mother-in-law, Angel Hammond; and a number of other extended family members and close friends.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Wyatt and Judy Wyatt Edwards, and father-in-law, Alan Hammond.A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Chris’ life on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. She was born to the late Mr. James McLain and Kathleen Farmer McLain in Knoxville, TN, on June 16, 1958.Janice was a loving mother and Mamaw. She doted on her grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them. Janice earned her master’s degree in computer science at Coleman College and worked in the accounting department at the University of West Georgia. She enjoyed playing cards, painting, singing and loved shooting guns.She was a Christian leader throughout her life and a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. In her earlier years, Janice was also a member of One Voice Choir with Lilburn Baptist Church.Left to cherish her memory is her loving sons, David and Candis Bramble and Michael and Chelsea Bramble; grandchildren, Annabelle, Isaac, Bailey, Theodore and Zula Bramble; sisters, Karen and Gary Marshall and Leslie Curtis; and her niece and nephew, Kary and Gary Aaron.Funeral Services will be held to honor and celebrate Janice’s life on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Riddle officiating. He lived most of his lifetime in this area and worked for about eighteen years as a mechanic for Ronnie D. Jones, Inc. before his retirement a few years ago. He was a Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife Ginger Agan King of Bremen, GA; two sons, Jeremy King of Sandy Springs, GA and Billy King of Bremen, GA; two sisters, Melanie Robinson Bell and Melinda King, both of Bremen, GA; his wonderful grandsons, Colton King and Cody King of Bremen, GA and many close friends.In accordance with his wishes, he has been cremated. Nolen and Annie Veal Nolen. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Douglas & Lomason in Carrollton. Mr. Nolen grew up in the Glenloch Community and was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church having served as a deacon for over 70 years.He is survived by his wife, Marie Denney Nolen; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Lovvorn, Rhonda and Kevin Moon; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Keri Nolen; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Moon, Mickie Thames; grandchildren, Lauren and John Hunter, Kristin and Josh Walston, Stephanie and Bobby Shelton, Josh Lyons; great grandchildren, Chandler Morris, Kyleigh Morris, Allie Walston, Bryar Shelton, Brantley Shelton, Bella Kate Shelton, Abigail Hunter; several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was born April 20, 1945 in Bremen, GA to the late George Albert and Naomi Fay Hamrick Kimball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Ann Gable; sister, Janice Bush; and brothers, Truman Kimball, Waymon Kimball and Randy Joe Kimball.Jackie graduated from Buchanan High School with the class of 1963. She loved being in the garden tending her flowers. She loved traveling, being on the beach, swimming in the pool, and entertaining and hanging out with all her daughter’s friends. She loved all her animals and adored her grandson, Devin.She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Junior Gable; daughter, Donna Goolsby, both of Carrollton; grandson, Devin and Demi Goolsby, of Bowdon; brother in law, Elbert and Betty Gable of Cleveland, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1:00PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Lana Elefonte speaking. A eulogy will be given by Monicha Hamil Drew. Music will be provided by Ashton Purser and Dylon Blackwelder.Her family will receive friends in the chapel for one hour prior to the service.
