"Sharon Lee Elias, 77 of Muskogee was born February 8, 1946 in Burkburnett, Texas to Raymond and Margie (Pennington) Stoker and peacefully passed away Saturday September 9, 2023 in Muskogee surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. Sharon completed her high school education in Warner. She met and later married her best friend, Bobby Elias on September 11, 1962, in Muskogee. A marriage that stood the test of time of 60 years, 11 months and 29 days. Taking care of and spending quality time with Bob, their girls and her grandchildren was her greatest passion. Sharon enjoyed gardening and was the best Christmas Holiday Theme planner. She loved being a homemaker and will truly be missed by many. Sharon may be gone but will never be forgotten! Her love and devotion for her family was evident in her actions and everything she did. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob of the home; daughters, Sherri Jackson of Muskogee; Shelley Cooper of Coweta; Kimbra Freeman and husband Tommy of Muskogee; Amy Craig and husband Tommy of Muskogee; grandchildren, Brett Jackson and wife Brittney of Muskogee, Lloyd Cooper of Checotah, Kristen Cooper and fiance Joseph Denton of Coweta, Alexis Cooper of Coweta, Chase Freeman and wife Taylor of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Keely Craig, Bodhi Jackson, Olivia Freeman, Barley Jackson, Hattie Freeman all of Muskogee; and future great-grandson, Jaxson Freeman; extended family and many friends. A celebration of Sharon's life is pending at this time. Mary G. Muskrat has passed away on December 7, 2023 at the age of 89. Mrs. Muskrat was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Monroe Mathis, father of Barbara Jean Mathis-Hart and Brenda Kay Mathis; and her husband Maurice Kenneth Muskrat, father of James Glen Muskrat. She was also preceded in death by five of her six siblings; Lucy Payne, William, Arvle, John and Hershel Tudor. Mrs. Muskrat was a long-time resident of Warner, Oklahoma but was born in Paden, Oklahoma on March 13, 1934, to John Tudor and Martha Dixon Tudor. Mrs. Muskrat is survived by her three children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her sister Mrs. Gladys Sewell of San Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Muskrat was a housewife and stay at home mom. In addition, she was a caregiver for the elderly for more than ten years. She was a kind-hearted, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those she loved and whom loved her.Show more

Aaron Miles Gage was born February 26, 1939 in Chickasha, OK the son of Johnny and Maple (Rogers) Gage. He passed from this life on December 1, 2023 in Muskogee. He was 84 years of age. Aaron served in the United States Army for 23 years, retiring in 1977 at the rank of Sergeant Major. He served two tours in Viet Nam. After his retirement he worked in law enforcement in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He was married to his wife Diana on July 4, 1987. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Webbers Falls and the Shriners. For several years he volunteered driving children and families to the Shriners Hospital. Surviving are his wife Diana; Daughter Karen Gage and grandchildren Brandy Renfrow, Hank Renfrow, Chloe Gage, Hayden Wildoner, Joseph Wildoner and Amanda Wildoner.Show more

Burial will follow at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. He was born on February 18, 1929 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Lula (Vick) Edwards and Roy Edwards and passed away on November 28, 2023 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was married to Juanita Ethel (Brown) Edwards on February 28, 1953 in Van Buren, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2011. Mr. Edwards was a retired inspector from Whirlpool, a farmer and rancher and a U. S. Army Veteran. Survivors are three daughters, Deborah Todd of Park Hill, OK, Delores Hawk of Sallisaw, OK and Lolita Edwards of Vian, OK; two sons, Lonnie Edwards of Gore, OK and Dwayne Edwards of Claremore, OK; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister, Dorothy Shives Active Pallbearers will be Logan Todd, Jason Todd, Zac Vickers and Ashton Vickers. Louise Blackledge Brooks, of Fayetteville, born July 3, 1920, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully November 26, 2023, at age 103. She and her older sister Irene grew up on the peach farm of their parents, Harold and Cassie Blackledge in Porter, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Phillip C. Brooks. She is survived by her daughters, Frances Holman and husband Jim of Asheville, NC and Paula Lee and her husband Gary of Fayetteville, AR. Louise was known as "Mimi' to her five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was a home economics major and campus beauty at the University of Oklahoma where she met and married Phil. After his tour of duty in WWII they returned to Muskogee where Frances and Paula were born. The family relocated to Fayetteville in 1957. Her church and faith were very important and both were active in the University Baptist Church. Louise was also a stalwart 70 year member of the AT chapter of PEO. She was also an extremely talented seamstress, a great cook, an avid gardener and played a wicked game of bridge. With Louise's passing her family and many friends will miss her, a loving and faithful person. Don Allen "Maverick" Reese was born July 29, 1942 In Muskogee, OK the son of Felix and Dora Ellen (Lowrey) Reese Jr. He passed from this life on November 22, 2023 in Muskogee. He was 81 years of age. Maverick was a lifelong resident of Muskogee growing up in the Gooseneck Bend area. He had a varied career including working as a grader operator for Muskogee County for ten years. He loved to fish and squirrel hunt and bowled for many years. His biggest passion was playing music. For many years he and his brother played on a Saturday morning radio show in Okay called and Ralph Fain and the Reese Brothers. Surviving are his son Jeff Reese and wife Paula of Hominy; his partner of fifteen years Marjorie Bryson of Muskogee; three grandchildren Frederick, Leo and Abbie; 14 great grandchildren and two brothers Jack Reese and Bobby Joe "Razor" Reese. Richard Joseph Shepler, Jr, 84, of Muskogee, OK, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Tulsa, OK. He was born on January 26, 1939 in Oroville, CA, the son of Richard Joseph Shepler, Sr. and Mary Belle Gilfillan (Ridge). Richard was a true family man who devoted his life to serving the Lord, wearing many hats as a Deacon, Music Minister, and Sunday School Teacher. His punctuality was unmatched, reflecting his faithfulness to his commitments. Richard was a big OU Sooners sports fan. He found joy in woodworking and was a jack of all trades. Richard's thirst for knowledge was evident in his love for reading and his eagerness to learn new things. Richard enjoyed peanut butter and jelly on crackers, nightly hot cocoa, and a refreshing lemonade while watching his favorite western TV Shows. Richard approached life with an ornery sense of humor, along with a hardworking and generous spirit. Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara Shepler (Burt); children: Richard Shepler III, Brendelee Marshall, and Vickie Veach and husband Ron; grandchildren: Mikaela Marshall and Nickolas Marshall; siblings: Marylou Berryhill and husband Kenneth, Donna Stover, Virginia Sloan and husband Bill, and Robert Gilfillan; and several nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death his parents Richard Joseph Shepler, Sr. and Mary Belle Gilfillan (Ridge); and his brother Bruce Gilfillan.
