Shanna Lynn Parsons, 45, of Keyser, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at her residence. Born on January 6, 1978 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of Linda G. (Walker) Hoopengarner of Keyser and the late Russell Paul Hoopengarner , who died on January 3, 2022; her beloved grandfather, Overton "O. B. " Walker, who gave her the nickname "Peachie," her grandmother, Louise Walker; her beloved American Bulldog, "Dallas" and her tabby cat, "Mary Jane. "Shanna was a 1996 graduate of Westmar High School in Westernport, MD and previously worked at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory as well as a cashier at Martin's Foods in Keyser for five years. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and loved watching "I Love Lucy" and "The Sopranos. " She loved all animals, cooking for her friends and family and would always help others if she was able. Even though she was known to be late, even to her own graduation, her friends and family could always count on her to be there. In addition to her mother, who worshipped and adored her, she leaves behind her only daughter,, Taylor Kirby who she dearly loved and cherished beyond measure; her son-in-law, Kyle Kirby who she loved dearly like a son; and her only grandson, Mason Kirby to whom she was known as "GiGi. " She loved her grandson with all her heart and he was the apple of her eye. She also leaves behind numerous friends that loved her dearly. Shanna was the light in the darkness to a lot of people. Although she was still needed and loved by many here, the Lord needed her to come Home. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p. m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 p. m. with Kenneth Brown officiating. Janet Ilene Ray, 82, of Keyser, WV, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland, MD. Born on November 2, 1941 in Morgantown, WV, she was a daughter of the late Thomas William and Dixie Lee (Feathers) Ray. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Ray, Sr. and Kevin Ray and two sisters, Barbara Mangold and Peggy Ray. Janet retired from the Chat-N-Chew Restaurant in McCoole, MD after 40 years of service. She loved cooking, crossword puzzles, beating everyone in card games and being surrounded by her family. Surviving is her son, Tony Ray and wife Jennifer of Keyser; two brothers, Richard Ray and wife Mary of Early, Texas and Tom Tom Ray and wife Lisa of New Creek, WV; six grandchildren, Michael Ray, Jr. , Tommy Ray, Joshua Ray, Kendall Gerard, Tony "T. J. " Ray and wife Aushia and Katelyn Ray; nine great grandchildren, Michael Ray, III, Matthew Ray, Daysha Ray, Alyc Ray, Alye Ray, Scarlette Ray, Landry Ray, Odin Ray and Zeke Valentine; a great great grandson, Colt Ray and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 1-2 p. m. April Dawn (Tichnell) Gillaspie, 41, of Keyser, WV, gained her wings on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on May 5, 1982 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of Tim and Robin (Roy) Llewellyn of Keyser and the late Jerry Tichnell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas M. Gillaspie on March 4, 2021; her brother who died just hours earlier, Timothy Dakotah Llewellyn; her maternal grandparents, Homer and Mabel Roy; her paternal grandfather, William G. Llewellyn and numerous aunts and uncles. April was a 2000 graduate of Keyser High School and held a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Phoenix Axia College online. She was an avid wrestling fan and had a blast going to shows. Most importantly, she loved being with her kids, her special niece Riley "Monk" and her family. She also enjoyed going on long road trips. Surviving, in addition to her parents are her four beloved children, Timothy Gillaspie, Mykiah Smith, Catie Smith and Alexxander Llewellyn-Gillaspie, all at home; her grandparents, Becky Fizer and husband Jim of PA; her brother, Willie Llewellyn and wife Kasey of Westernport, MD; her sister, Chalet Richard and husband Jordan of Ridgeley, WV; brother and sisters, Jerry, Jennifer and Janice Tichnell; an uncle, Tom Roy and Michele of Keyser and three aunts, P-Nut Roy and April Llewellyn, both of Keyser and Judi Roy of Yukon, OK. April is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and had three very special people in her life who she was close to; Lisa Smith Perkins, Dennis Roy, Jr. and Jami Davis-Houdersheldt. Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, for a joint visitation with her brother, Timothy Dakotah Llewellyn on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1-3 p. m. Jason Michael Green, 46, of San Diego and formerly of Keyser, WV and Luke, MD passed away on September 26, 2023 after an eight-year battle with two cancers. Tough and determined, Jason never gave up. Born June 15, 1977, he was the son of Paula Ward and Jeff of Luke, MD and Dennis Green and Kathy Jo of Green Spring, WV. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jo Chevalier, Robert and Louise Chevalier, and Bill and Helen Ward; his paternal grandparents, Dorothy Pase and Joseph "Joe" Green; and his aunt’s Reberta Stanford, Martha Myers, and Ginny Poland. Jason, a humble intellectual, learned from the world’s finest thinkers, reading classics by Jane Austen, Faulkner and Hemmingway. He had many books on ethics and world religions, along with non-fiction Philosophy. Jason enjoyed music and the precious time spent with his family. Jason treated everyone with kindness. During his illness, even on the worst days, he cared for others and was sure to ask how everyone else was doing, he was selfless. This was the Jason that will be loved until our own life ends. Along with parents, Jason is also survived by his wife, Kristin Tennesen of San Diego; sisters, Shea-Mikal Green of Romney, WV, and Kelsey Heavener and Nathan of Romney, WV. Jason was the fun uncle to his nephew, Easton Stevens of Las Vegas, NV, and niece, Maudi Wren of Romney, WV. In accordance with his wishes Jason was cremated. "Death seems so cruel, so purposeless. It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, devoted mother, loving sister and extraordinary grandmother. Sandra Jane Green, 73, of Keyser, WV, left this world on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV following a brave and courageous battle with leukemia. Born on December 8, 1949 in Keyser, WV to the late John C. and Georgia C. (Grapes) Stewart, she also was preceded in death by several siblings and her infant grandson, Jordan M. Dunn. Surviving is her beloved husband of 51 years, Richard W. Green; three daughters, Catherine L. Ritchie and husband Matthew of Cape Coral, FL, Jennifer L. Huff and husband Derek of Keyser and Dr. Melissa D. Graves and husband Adam of Keyser. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and proudest legacy, Matthew Dunn, Adam Dunn, Skylar Ritchie, Kaelyn Huff, Kamilee Huff, Avalyn Huff, Sean Huff, Grayson Huff, Connor Graves, Ryan Graves and Addison Graves. Sandra nurtured, guided and loved her family unconditionally and imparted the values of compassion and kindness in her daily living. Her greatest source of joy and strength was her relationship with Christ and her church family at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly. Her generosity, grace and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a talent for making others feel valued and loved, and her home was a place of warmth and welcome for family and friends alike,Friends will be received at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly, 231 Newton Street, Keyser, on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 12:00 until 2:00 p. m.
