Gloria Fraser

In Orangeburg, South Carolina, on March 15, 1932, the late Hammond and Estelle Davis Green birthed the youngest of fifteen children. They named the child Gloria Green. She was raised under the influence of a praying mother and received her early Christian training at First Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, South Carolina. She received her elementary and high school education in the public schools of Georgetown, South Carolina. Gloria moved to New Haven, Connecticut with her sister in hopes of finding better opportunities. Through hard work and persistence, she continued her education and graduated from the PBX School of Operating after which she became a TSPS operator for the Southern New England Telephone Company. As the Lord had a calling on her life and her love of teaching God's people, she matriculated in the Black Ministers Certificate program from Hartford Seminary Trinity College. In March of 1951, she married the late James Fraser, Sr. The two were married for 41 years. Together they reared nine children. In addition to raising her own children, she was a foster mother and a licensed daycare provider for over 20 years serving the community. She held a special place in her heart towards the elderly; as she took elderly church mothers into her home and cared for them. Mother Fraser was a loving person always willing to help someone in need. The need would be inclusive of an encouraging word, a word of correction, or a financial need. She never had anything too good that she would not lend or give to someone else. Mother Fraser was an exceptional woman who practiced excellence. She clothed herself in humility and was a friend to all. God's plan for her life would be to proclaim his word to all. As a part of her mission and commitment to her faith, she served faithfully. Mother Fraser served steadfastly in various capacities under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles H. Brewer, Sr. , the late Bishop Charles H. Brewer, Jr. , the late Supervisor Rebekah E. Gorham, and the late Supervisor Malonie J. Ramsey. In 1996 Bishop Hester D. Bordeaux chose Mother Fraser as State Supervisor of Connecticut Second Jurisdiction. At the International Holy Convocation C. O. G. I. C. held in November 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee, Mother Emma Crouch bestowed the appointment of Supervisor of Connecticut Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Mother Fraser served as a devoted, consecrated, and faithful Supervisor under the leadership of Bishop Hester D. Bordeaux for over 22 years. Mother Fraser has held numerous positions within the church as a testament to her service. She humbly served as the Pastor's Aide President, Chairperson of the Mortgage Committee, Chairperson of the Women's Department, an Advisory Board member, District Missionary 1972-1985, Chairperson of the United Jurisdictional Auxiliaries Convention (UJAC), and Chairperson of the International Gift Committee for the International District Missionary Unit. Mother Fraser also served the National Church on the Advisory Board, Special Assistance Committee, and the Grievance Committee. In 1985, Mother Fraser responded to the Lord's call to open a mission within her home. The Lord allowed her to move the mission to 121 Grand Avenue in the city of New Haven. She worshiped there until the Lord blessed her with yet another vision. In 1995, she was favored by the Lord to erect phase one of Christ Deliverance C. O. G. I. C. Inc. which cost over $125,000. In September of 2007 the Lord bestowed his mercies upon Christ Deliverance and allowed the mortgage to be burned on phase one. Mother Fraser served as Senior Pastor until God calledher from labor to reward. Mother Gloria Green Fraser departed this earthly life on November 21, 2023. Assured by II Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. " Mother Gloria Green Fraser was preceded in death by her parents, Hammond and Estelle Davis Green; husband, James Fraser, Sr. ; sisters, Oddie Evans, Lottie Felder, and Sister Green; brothers, Manning Green, Frank Green, Vance Green, O'Neil Green, Harvey Green, J. W. Green, Henry Greene, and five other siblings. Today she leaves to cherish her precious memory, nine children, Estelle (Nathaniel) Davis, James Fraser, Jr. , Michelle Fraser, Barry (Jackie) Fraser, Joelene (Danny) Fraser- Alexander, Theodora (Karl) Fraser-McPherson, Cheryl Charles, Eveta (Jimmie) Spencer, Marceline (Imamu) Fraser-Minnis; bonus daughter, Ernestine Pagan; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Viola H. Greene of Georgetown, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.Show more
