Scott Allen Bazany, age 60 of North Muskegon, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1962 in Grand Haven, MI to Paul and Lucy (Patterson) Bazany. Scott married Michele Chupp on July 1, 2017 in Muskegon. Scott graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1981. He proudly served his country in the US Army, and worked as Supervisor for Ottawa County Juvenile Detention for many years. Scott was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, golfing, and shore fishing. He also had a passion for traveling, and especially loved spending time up north in the U. P. Scott also enjoyed sports and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and U of M football. Scott will be forever remembered and missed by his beloved wife, Michele; his son, Hunter Bazany; step-daughter, Gretchen Catalfamo; step-sons, Jeremy (Liz) and Nicholas (Krystal) Wilder; seven grandchildren: Aedan, Greyson, Nico, Lucas, Keegan, Khloe, and Kaylee; four sisters: Lori Plooster, Stacie (Pat) Halloran, Cheryl (Jack) Demarse, and Susan (Mike) Corcoran; two brothers, Bruce (Kitty) Bazany and Skip (Marquita) Bazany; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucy Bazany. The Memorial Service for Scott will take place at 3:00 p. m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Mary Joyce (Floto) Ellingboe, age 89 who owned and operated Floto's gifts in downtown Grand Haven for many years, passed away the evening of Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was born on March 1, 1934 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Cornelia Ann (Bolt) and Percy C. Floto. Mary attended Michigan State University from 1952 to 1953. She then married Thomas William Ellingboe on May 26, 1962, and they started a family soon after while she worked part-time with her mother, Cornelia Floto, at the family business. Mary helped her mother transform the store through changes, from a home appliance store to its present-day gift store. A sharp businesswoman, she attended annual Chicago gift shows to get ideas on what to offer for sale at Floto's. Mary worked up until a month before her passing with her son, Paul, who took over as owner. Floto's is now in its third generation of being run as a family business. Mary was a life-long member of Second Reformed Church in Grand Haven and was a member of the Y. M. C. A. for many years. Her ability to operate a business, raise a family, and live in Grand Haven brought her great joy and happiness. Mary is lovingly remembered and missed by her three sons: William Ellingboe, Paul (Kathi) Ellingboe, and Peter (Brenda) Ellingboe, all of Grand Haven; three beloved grandchildren: Noah (Lia) Ellingboe, Nicholas (Cami) Ellingboe (and their mother, Shelly Ellingboe), and Brittany (Nick) Knapp; her sister, Elizabeth Peel; brother, Peter (Mary Ann) Floto; brother-in-law, William (Marie) Ellingboe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Thomas Ellingboe on September 6, 2007; and brother-in-law, Richard Peel. A Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Life for Mary will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 p. m. at Second Reformed Church. The family requests casual attire. Douglas "Doug" James Vanderlaan, age 76, of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at home. He was born on January 8, 1947, in Grand Rapids, MI, to James and Marion (Madeley) Vanderlaan. Doug married Karen Kerr on July 8, 1973, in Crescent City, CA. In 1979, they became Grand Haven area residents. Doug graduated from Grandville High School and was attending college when he entered the U. S. Air Force where he served for nine years as a radar electrical technician in California, North Dakota, and Germany. He then served another four years as a private contractor in Alaska. Later, Doug worked as an electric engineer for APV Baker and Parkway Electric Companies. Prior to his retirement, he was a bus driver for handicapped individuals in Ottawa County. Since his early teen years, Doug's true passion was Ham Radio, which continued all his life. He also had a passion for photography and woodworking, and he enjoyed being a SCA Renaissance participant who enjoyed making swords. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Karen Vanderlaan; his mother, Marion Vanderlaan of Naples, FL; his two sisters, Terry (William) Deacon of Davisburg, MI and Laurel (Richard) Noonan of Naples, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Vanderlaan. A Memorial Service for Doug will take place at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Gordon "Gord" K. Veurink, age 89, of Grand Haven went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Gord was born on August 15, 1934 in Muskegon, MI to the late Gerrit and Jennie (Veele) Veurink. He married the love of his life, Sally L. Grimm, on November 27, 1952 in Muskegon. She passed away on January 22, 2011. Gord was blessed again to marry Mary Peterson on October 14, 2011 in Grand Haven. She passed away July 13, 2014. Gordon was a former member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church where he served as Cadet Counselor and Youth Group leader. When Gord and Sally moved to Spring Lake in 1978, they became members of Second Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven where he was actively involved in the Mid-Life Crisis Group and served as deacon, elder, choir member, youth activities director, and Cadets. Gord assisted Sally and became a dedicated volunteer working on many school activities and bazaars at Western Michigan Christian High. He also was very active in Gideon's International and the Safari Club. Gord truly enjoyed hunting and went on many Safaris over the years and has several mounts displayed at his cabin on the White River. He also enjoyed being at his condo in Florida during the winter months and traveling with Sally to many countries over the years. He was president and owner of National Oil and Superior Oil Companies. Gord will be greatly missed by his four children: Gary (Helena) Veurink, Sheri (Ralph) Van Duyn, Kathy Veurink, and Mark (Lori) Veurink. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Jennifer De Verney, Scott (Ashleigh) Vogel, Jessica (Andy) Hawley, Jacqueline (Tom) Schneider, Crystal (Steven) Bishop, Grant (Carmen) Veurink, Natalie (Lucas) Wilgenburg, Lee (Kelli) Veurink, Sarah Van Duyn, Brian (Michelle) Van Duyn, Benjamin (Diana) Veurink, Tiffany Bakale, and Alyssa (Nic) Wieland; 31 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gordon (Judy) Grimm; and step-children: Betty (Randy) Oetting, Judy (John) Boven, Doug Peterson (Janet Reilly) and Mike (Amy) Peterson. Gord was preceded in death by his sisters: Jerene Brown, Nellie Bytwerk, and Catherine Van Andel and his brother, Wallace Veurink. The Funeral Service for Gord will take place at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Second Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Tim Blackmon officiating. Kenneth Wayne and Sharyn Jean (Bates) Westerhouse were united in marriage on October 19, 1968, in Grand Haven, MI. Sharyn was born March 2, 1945, in Muskegon, MI and passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023; and Kenneth was born May 29, 1940, in Grand Haven, MI and passed away Friday, November 24, 2023. They were lovingly reunited within several hours when they went home to be with their Lord. They both were life-long area residents of Grand Haven, and active members of Hope Church, where they especially enjoyed being involved with Owls, food drives, and Wednesday night meals. They also loved all their special times spent with family, and traveling up north to their Long Lake getaway, where they went fishing and hunting. They also enjoyed bowling on leagues at the former Starlite Lanes Bowling Alley. Ken proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force, from 1963 to 1967, during the Vietnam War Era. He was employed for 28 years with Shape Corporation, and enjoyed history, shipwrecks, two-tracking up north, and was well known for his sense of humor and teasing. Throughout the years, Sharyn was employed by People's Bank, Rich's Grocery, Meijer's, and provided day care. She enjoyed being with people, searching for old books, cooking, playing bingo, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. Sharyn was well known for her beautiful penmanship. They both will be lovingly remembered and missed by their daughter, Kelly (Nathan) Mueller; and son, Matthew Westerhouse; grandchildren: Lindsey and Kendra Westerhouse, and Morgan and Tanner Mueller; Ken's sister, Joyce Daane; Sharyn's sister and brother, Cheryl Horton and John (Jackie) Bates; in-laws, Marge Westerhouse and Shirley Westerhouse; as well as several nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their parents; and their siblings, Ron, Larry, and Don Westerhouse, Beverly Alman; and brothers-in-law, Al Daane and Dave Horton. Douglas "Wabs" Jay Wabeke, age 65 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at home. He was born on February 24, 1958, in Zeeland, MI to the late Merton and Frieda (Cooke) Wabeke. Doug married Cindy Van't Hof on September 25, 1982, in Zeeland. Doug graduated from Zeeland High School, Class of 1976. He then attended Central Michigan University where he earned his bachelor's degree, and later graduated from Miami of Ohio with his master's degree. Doug spent his career working as a Wellness Instructor, Baseball Coach, and Athletic Director at Grand Rapids Community College. In addition to his teaching career, Doug also played Minor League Baseball for the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, and Pittsburgh Pirates. Throughout the years, he coached for USA Baseball and served as a baseball Umpire throughout West Michigan. Doug enjoyed all things baseball, spending time on the lakeshore, running, biking, the Y. M. C. A. , and all sorts of shenanigans. He and his wife would like to thank his CMU friends, his baseball friends, his Zeeland friends, and his Jenison friends for a lifetime of loving and loyal friendship. Doug will be forever remembered and missed by his wife of 41 years, Cindy; his two sisters, Nancy (Tom) Curnick and Sandra (Randy) Lamer; sister-in-law, Tammy (Jeff) Beswick; and many well-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law, Beatrice and Ronald Van't Hof. Michael James Vrablic, age 65 of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 24, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on June 26, 1958, in Grand Haven, MI, to Michael and Nancy (Walwood) Vrablic. Mike graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1976, and began his 47-year career with Herman Miller shortly thereafter. He married his high school sweetheart, Diane Volkema, on September 30, 1978, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and they recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. Mike and Diane enjoyed traveling to Hawaii several times and always looked forward to their annual trips to Traverse City each fall. Mike enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with his grandkids. He also liked to keep his garden in good shape and enjoyed the outdoors while camping. Mike is survived by his wife, Diane; and their three boys: Mitchell (Lena) Vrablic, Cameron Vrablic, and Christian Vrablic, all of Grand Haven; his two grandchildren, Luke and Keira; five siblings: Mark (Sandy) Vrablic, Greg Vrablic, Jeanne (Troy) Whipple, Diane (Ron) Wilson, and Brenda (Todd) Holmes; brother-in-law, Paul (Marcia) Volkema; sister-in-law, Janice (Peter) Cook; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Nancy; and his sister-in-law, Tracy Vrablic. "Anne Mary Guimond, age 73, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, July 16. She was born October 15, 1949, in Grand Rapids to Francis "Red\u0026quot; and Violet Guimond, the first of 4 girls. Anne earned her bachelor's degree from Grand Valley and master's degree from Western Michigan University. Anne lived most of her life in the Grand Haven area and served Grand Haven High School for 33 years, many as head librarian, before retiring. Anne enjoyed reading, golfing, reading, gardening, reading, spending time with her dogs, and READING! Anne was very involved in First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven over the years as a congregant and volunteer. She also volunteered as a medical driver, helping seniors with limited transportation reach essential medical appointments. Anne also traveled extensively with friends and family, including visits to Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, and many destinations across Europe. Anne loved her family and especially enjoyed bugging her sister, Fran Guimond. Anne is survived by Fran; her brother-in-law, Dennis Cairns; and nephews, Logan (Anne) Delke; Benjamin (Katie) Cairns and their children, Caroline, Brennan, and Graham; and David (Michele) Cairns and their daughter, Tallulah; and extended family, Michelle (Gary) Keim, and their children, McKenzie and Alexander; Clifford "Cam" (Becky) McDougall, and their children, George, Elise and Molly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Violet; her sisters, Christine Guimond Cairns and Julie Delke, and brother-in-law, Christopher Delke. A celebration of life will take place November 25, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, at Wind Drift Condominium Community Room in Spring Lake. "Rose Marie Andreasen, 91, of Grand Haven, passed away on November 20, 2023, after a short illness. Rose was born in 1932 in Grand Rapids. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, she attended Grand Rapids Junior College. In 1952 she met John Andreasen and they wed in 1954. They lived in the Grand Rapids area until John's work as a school administrator took them to Hopkins, Michigan, and then to Grand Haven in 1967. Rose was a stay-at-home mom who dedicated her life to her family encouraging her kids to pursue their educations and their dreams. She was the rock of her family and leaves them with wonderful memories of family gatherings and celebrations. Christmastime and the Coast Guard Festival were of particular importance. Rose was an avid bridge player having been in several bridge groups for well over 50 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grand Haven, and she was a passionate, life-long Democrat. To the very end of her life, she voiced well thought out opinions and concerns on politics and current events. She is preceded in death by her husband John, her brother, James Lewis and a baby daughter, Jane Catherine. She is survived by her children, Jon (Betsi) Andreasen, Karen Andreasen, Mary (Brent) Lane and Eric Andreasen; four grandchildren: Michel (Kevin) Green, Jake Andreasen, Emma Lane and Anna Lane.
