Bobbye Johnson Mooney, 90, of Acworth, Georgia, surrounded by her family, left her earthly home to enter her heavenly home to join her Savior on November 25, 2023. She was a dedicated Christian who loved her Lord and worshiped at Highland Park United Methodist Church (Richmond VA) for 70 years until she moved to Kennesaw, GA and worshiped at County Line United Methodist Church for 20 years. She loved her churches, sang in the choir, was a devoted Sunday School teacher and bible study and youth leader for decades and a shining example of loving and living for Jesus. Bobbye was born in Richmond, Virginia December 29, 1932. She graduated from John Marshall High School and played in the marching band. She loved music and later in life helped create, and became a member of, The Merry Music Makers playing her clarinet in the band through out Virginia. After business college she began her career at American Tobacco Co in Richmond where she met her husband. She often said her future husband saw her changing a flat tire on her car in the parking lot and he thought "that's the woman for me!" She left American Tobacco to raise their two children. When it came time for Robin and Robert to attend school she became a Richmond City school bus driver so she could drive them to school. She was a favorite bus driver for decades for students with special needs. Her students call her for years after she retired in 1986. Bobbye was a very dedicated Christian with a zest for life. She was always the life of the party. Her sense of humor was infectious and her bright blue eyes and smile lit up the room. She loved horse back riding (had horses for 57 years), camping, motorcycles (bought her first for herself for her 40th birthday), water skiing, jet skiing, loved her pontoon boat watching sunsets and sitting on her screened front porch of her lake home on Lake Gaston in Virginia for almost 30 years. She loved her family gatherings and the outdoors. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and soon to be a great grandmother. Bobbye moved from Richmond VA in 2004 to Kennesaw, GA to be with her son and daughter-in-law and their four young daughters whom she loved and cherished being a Grandma. Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris (Mooney) Johnson; her husband of 19 years, Willard Taylor Mooney; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Fran Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Howard Glasco; a niece, Judy Glasco; and a great niece, Christy Morgan.
