Sarah Izzell Obituary

"Sarah Emily Izzell passed away on Sunday May 7, 2023, at Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. Mrs. Izzell was born in Wake County, NC on July 1, 1930, to Ralph and Corinna Hunnicutt. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Cecil Izzell (Sr), to whom she was married for 65 years, and her daughter, Celeste Izzell. She is survived by her daughter, Emily Rebecca Izzell and her son, James C. Izzell, Jr (Lisa). She had a large loving family that included of 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews. Emily loved spending time with her family, especially beach trips with her sisters and extended family. She was a very talented artist and loved painting and sketching. She authored, illustrated, and published a children's book. "Hattie's Big Move" about the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse being moved from the perspective of a resident mouse. She loved to build and paint decorative birdhouses, some of which are treasured family heirlooms. She was an animal lover, and always had several pet cats, and loved watching the birds in her yard and garden. She was always active in her church by singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. "
