Sarah Anne Huntington, 70, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in London, England, she was the daughter of Jean Mary (Briggs) Betts and the late Anthony Betts. She was the beloved wife of Frank Huntington for 35 years. They were blessed with four wonderful children: a son Charlie and three daughters Jamie, Kayla, and Karina. Sarah grew up all over the state of Maine, including Eagle Lake, Brunswick, and Waterville. She received a degree in journalism from B. U. and a degree in nursing from Northeastern. She was a reporter and editor at the Boston Globe, the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, the Middlesex News, and the Waterville Sentinel. She was a school nurse for the Winchester Public Schools. She particularly enjoyed working at the Robbins Library in Arlington. Sarah was devoted to her family. Even in the worst of her terrible illness, she was more concerned about how her children and husband were doing. She had boundless energy and curiosity. She loved words; she was usually reading five books at a time. She loved the ocean and going sailing. She loved family gatherings at Sebago Lake. She loved travelling and learning more about how people live in other places. She was brave enough to read the entire newspaper, even in these trying times. She always had a stash of dark chocolate, just in case. She had a wry sense of humor and could draw a laugh out of her husband when he least expected it. She was a supportive listener who was always ready to share her experience, strength, and hope - and to give great hugs. She will be sorely missed. In addition to her husband, children, and mother, she is survived by her sisters Ann Bowman of Chebeague Island, ME, Jane Petrillo of Williston, VT, and Jennifer Rough of Warwick, NY. Funeral services for Sarah are private. Contributions may be made in Sarah's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
