Memorial services will be held Thursday 11AM at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. Mason, Mary Margaret, 79, of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, surrounded by her family. God welcomed a unique angel to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lewis Mason, and parents, William Lester “Les” Younger and Mary Fazzi Younger. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Bridget and Michael Murrell, of Glen Allen, grandchildren, Madison Loran Murrell and Robert Tyler Murrell, siblings, William Lester Younger, Jr., Dorothy Younger Richards, and Elizabeth Younger Stevens. We would like to express special thanks to our angel on earth, Cynthia Green, for her exceptional caregiving. Mary Margaret will be remembered for her quick wit, strong will, and her ability to make you laugh. Everyone who knew her adored her sense of humor and the twinkle of mischief in her eyes. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his loving family: His daughters Tami Lowe (Dwayne Lowe), Beth Wright (Jim Wright), son Earl Harding Price III (Elizabeth “Pumpkin” Price), & His Beloved Dog Corporal Peanut. Along with grandchildren Chasidy Snead, A.J. Hughes, Shanna Hughes, Ryan Powers Jr. (J.R.), Thomas McKenzie Powers (Cookieman), Brooke Linn Premo, Skyler Wright, Earl Harding Price IV (Levi), Grayson Price, and Olivia Maureen Price. Earl’s great-grandchildren, including Ryan L. Valerie Leigh Downing, 56, passed away peacefully in her home in Richmond, Virginia on February 19, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on June 22, 1967, in Pensacola, Florida, Valerie always loved spending time in the water and at the beach. She also had a deep love of art and music. For many years, she had a career in telecommunications, and spent the last several years working in business development for The Farley Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. Valerie dedicated more than half of her life to helping others in recovery. Her blazing presence, devotion to service, and gift for carrying a message of depth and weight impacted countless individuals. She left a lasting legacy in the recovery community, near and far. She is survived by her husband, Christopher Poels; two sons, Nicholas Olson and Beckett Downing; mother and stepfather, Donna and Gregory Engel; three brothers, Donald Ozburn and his wife, Connie, Timothy Engel and his wife, Kelly, and Eric Ozburn; one sister, Joanna Ozburn; two uncles, Michael Ward and his wife, Gina, and Daniel Ward. She is also survived by four nieces, Jadah and Vanessa Ozburn, Samantha and Alexandra Engel; one nephew, Barrett Engel; her mother-in-law Dana Parks Gray, and sister-in-law, Catherine Washington and her husband, Tony. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Ozburn. Valerie leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, service, strength, generosity, and wit. There is simply no one like her. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aaron Gillis, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in Annapolis, MD, on March 29, 1947, Aaron passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, at Richmond V. A. Medical Center, Richmond, VA. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be forever cherished by those who knew him. Aaron was born in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Aaron W. Gillis and Vaughn C. Cromwell. Aaron proudly served in the United States Air Force from July 6, 1965, until his honorable discharge on December 20, 1968, achieving the rank of A1C. His courageous spirit and unwavering dedication to his country will forever be remembered. Aaron married Jonell E. Popp Gillis in Denver, CO in 1970 and they had 3 children, Troy, Tawnya, and Terra. The family lived in Colorado for 56 years. Following his military service, he pursued a career in sales, working for Keebler, Slush Puppy, Flacks, and Pepsi Cola, where he excelled in the sales industry earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Aaron moved on to another opportunity and retired from the casino industry in Cripple Creek, CO and Black Hawk, CO. Aaron enjoyed spending quality moments with his family and friends. He was “Wink” and “Bear” to all that loved him. Aaron cherished every moment he spent with his daughter Tawnya Gillis Scott, his son Troy Lowery Gillis, the late Terra Lynn Gillis, and his grandchildren Aaron, Devin, and Daunte. Aaron is survived by his sisters Shirley White and Oliver White Sr., and Sheila L. Colbert and Isaac Colbert, and predeceased by his late sisters Peggy and Patricia Harris. He is survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Oliver White, Jr., Omar White, Sr., Alesha White, Shavon Moulden and Thomas Moulden, Jr., Aaron has joined his beloved cousin Julius Allen, Jr, in heaven. Beloved and supportive friends Gwendolyn Parence, Susan Ahern, Burt Coston, Larry Jones, and countless others. Aaron loved playing golf, taking vacations with family and friends. Aaron was best known for love and obsession with cars. He had no preference for a particular make or model, he just loved cars. He loved going to Sonic and taking his grandsons with him. Aaron's kindness and generosity extended to everyone he met, earning him the admiration of his extended family and friends. Throughout his life, Aaron exemplified the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. Aaron leaves his legacy to his grandsons. Papa Bear was their best friend. A funeral service to celebrate Aaron's life will be held at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on February 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, there will be a public viewing at the same location starting at 10:00 am. His final resting place will be at Maryland Veteran Cemetery Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032. As we come together to honor and remember Aaron's remarkable life, let us also find solace in the beautiful memories he leaves behind. In his honor, let us continue to embody the values he held dear and carry his legacy forward. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. Born on August 23, 1961, in Virginia, Cynthia was a loving daughter to her mother Patricia Hunt and her father, the late Lewis G. Hunt Jr.Cindy, known for her warm spirit and love of animals, particularly cats, devoted much of her time to her family. She adored spending evenings watching movies and playing cards with her mother, creating lasting memories together. She will be remembered lovingly by her daughter, Jennifer Fehn and her husband Jarrett Fehn, with their two daughters, Madison and Mikayla Fehn.
