Santos Angel Patina, 40, of Austin, Texas was called home unexpectedly in the early morning of Saturday, September 2, 2023. Santos is survived by his wife Emily K. Patina, daughter Isabel Patina, sons Santos Patina Elizalde, Matthew Patina Elizalde, Gavynn Patina, Jeremhia Patina and Santos Jr. His Brother Domingo Patina Jr. , Sisters Belinda Villareal, Francis Patina, Annabella Patina, Betty Trujillo and Margret Guerrero. He is preceded in death by his father Domingo Patina Sr. , mother Isabel Patina, brothers Joe Adam Patina and David Lee Patina, Santos was an amazing dad and husband. He was proud of all his children and especially his wife. He told anyone who would listen to him about his loving family. He'd called people daily just to tell them he loved them. He loved without any boundaries and gave of himself without hesitation. He would give you the shirt off his back or his last dime. Making sure everyone was okay was what he cared about most. Santos spent the last few years of his life trying to leave a true legacy for his kids. All he wanted was to build something that he could pass onto them. Starting every small business venture that came across his lap was easy for him. He was a hard worker and never turned anything down. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and was a sheer optimist. When others saw obstacles, he saw opportunity. There wasn't anything he wouldn't try. But not only did he try, he excelled. Santos lit up a room like no one else. His raspy voice and infectious smile spoke volumes. No one could stay mad at him for long. He was everything you wanted a father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin or friend to be. And let's not forget, he gave the best hugs. We will love him forever and he will be forever missed. Viewing will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, September 15, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home, Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas 78745, a Service will resume at 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend the short service at 10:00 AM, September 16, 2023 at Harrell Funeral Home, Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas 78745. A precession will follow leading to the interment at Assumption Cemetery. A reception will be held immediately following the burial with a light meal, drinks, & desserts at the Patina residence.

Our beloved Ricardo Trujillo Bocanegra, age 67, resident of Austin, Texas, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Helen Bocanegra; his siblings, Pete Bocanegra, Tony Bocanegra, Ray Bocanegra and Cathy Bocanegra. Ricardo is survived by his children, Rick "Little Rick" Bocanegra (Christina "Tina"), Michelle Mata (Robert "Barney"), Monica Bocanegra (Rick Galvez), Stephanie Valdez, and Erick Ybarra; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his siblings, Robert Bocanegra, Rudy Bocanegra (Sandy), Theresa Serna, Connie Aguilar (Arthur), Mary Helen Bocanegra, Linda Sparks (Michael), Judy Lara (Joe), and his sister-in-law, Lisa Bocanegra; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends. Rick will always be remembered for his love for baseball/softball, playing pool, fishing and walking. Rick worked for the City of Austin Parks & Rec for 23 years. He looked forward to spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews for breakfast every 3rd Saturday of the month. Our beloved Neil Sherman Edwards, age 51, was called home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was greeted in heaven by his father, Elkanah Edwards, his grandparents, and other family and friends. Neil is survived by his wife of 21 years, Andrea Edwards; his mother, Veron Edwards; his children, Alexander Edwards and Andrew Edwards; his sister, Joy Edwards; brother, Ayer Edwards; his treasured nieces and nephews, Tate Mutti-Edwards, James Kirkland, Michael Kirkland, Sky McClore, Sophie Meeks, Jaylon Morris, Jeffrey Williams, and Zaylan Gates; his family in love, mother-in-law, Erma Salgado; brothers and sisters-law, Jennifer Walls, Venessa Walls, Demetrius Morris, Jr. , Lisa Walls, and Marcus Walls, as well as many other loving family and friends. Ruby Muriel Wiley Westbrook passed away December 6, 2023 at the age of 100 years in Austin, Texas. She was born in the Elgin, Texas area to Bessie and Otto Wiley on June 18, 1923. Muriel fondly recalled stories of riding her horse "Fancy" to Woodrow School. She later attended school in Taylor and graduated from Elgin High School in 1940. She worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She lived in Austin, Texas for many years. She enjoyed knitting and collecting glassware which she sold at her store, "Muriel's Antiques". Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Otto Wiley, her brother Jarmon Wiley, her first husband Thomas A. Blagg, a daughter Tommy Sue Blagg Fiero and her second husband Terry Mathis Westbrook. She is survived by son Terry Don Westbrook and wife Vernetta Ann Fisher Westbrook, grandchildren Sandra Michelle Westbrook Polkowski and husband Stephen, Samuel Dean Westbrook and wife Lisa Kanoe Arneson Westbrook, Edward Thomas Fiero and wife Cynthia Roseanne Fiero, Steven Scott Fiero and wife Monica Fiero, Dr. Jeffery Carl Fiero and wife Megan McCone Fiero, Michael Fiero and wife Cari; nieces Janet Dunbar, Judy Dunbar and nephew Jarmon "Jay" Wiley, Jr. Muriel is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Casey Nix Fiero, William "Liam" Thomas Fiero, Emerson Lou Fiero, Sophia Raye Fiero, Logan Scott Fiero, Elliott Muriel Fiero, Ethan Fiero, Christopher West Polkowski and David Brooks Polkowski. Vivian Mary Knapp was born to Evelyn and Francis Capitano on November 2nd, 1933, in Tampa, Florida. She passed away peacefully in her bed on December 5th, 2023, at the age of 90. Though born in Tampa, Florida, Vivian was raised in Jacksonville, Florida by Evelyn and Lee Snyder. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Travis Snyder. Vivian is survived by her beloved husband: Kenneth Knapp and children: Cynthia Louden, David Knapp, and Michael Knapp. She will be missed by her grandchildren and their spouses: Christopher Louden and Yessenia Torres, Joshua Knapp and Sarah Knapp, James Knapp, Jon Knapp and Jessica Knapp, as well as her nine great grandchildren. She was also the proud and loving mother of many canine children over the years and is survived by her Westie, Khloe, who will sorely miss her. In addition to providing a loving home for her family, Vivian worked as an administrative assistant for the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources for 20 years. However, her true passions were gardening, which she inherited from her mother's father Allen Underhill, and cooking which she inherited from her father, Frank. Vivian's love, generosity, and gentle spirit continues to embrace her family. She devoted herself to maintaining a warm and loving home, raising her children, and providing a support system for her husband's career as a chemist. She was always available for her grandchildren and delighted in her great-grandchildren. Vivian will be greatly missed by her entire family and all those who knew her. Michael Robert Frederick passed away Sunday November 19th, 2023, at the age of 72. Michael was born on January 12, 1951, in Albany, New York to Anita and Robert Frederick. The oldest of five, he joined his family in a move to Edina, Minnesota where he would meet his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Rapraeger. Michael graduated high school in 1969 launching his lifelong passion for business and computers. His college education led him to both the University of Colorado and the University of Texas in Austin, where he planted roots to start his family. On May 26, 1973, Michael married Linda and had 2 daughters, Jennifer and Melissa. Michael worked as a computer technologist for both Tom Ferry and John Deere before following his dream of launching his own successful business as a computer consultant. His knack for knowledge fed his entrepreneurial spirit and presented several business opportunities for him to bring to fruition during his lifetime. In addition to being an avid Texas Longhorn football fan and a skilled bowler, he played a very active role in his daughter's lives as a parent volunteer in all their activities growing up. Becoming a "Papa" and sharing sweet treats and intentional moments with his grandchildren quickly became one of his favorite pastimes. Later in life he discovered an appreciation for art, and proudly displayed his collection of over 200 pieces in a personal gallery to share with friends and family. He is remembered as a man who loved, protected, provided, encouraged, and guided his family with patience, kindness and understanding. Survivors include his mother, Anita Frederick; daughters Jennifer Reyes and Melissa Frederick; siblings Debbie Frederick Johnson, Mark Frederick (Merrideth), Kimberly Longnecker (James), Philip Frederick (Suzanne); and grandchildren Izabel, Abigail, Alex, and Kylie Reyes. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Frederick and father Robert Frederick. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 12 p. m. , Sunday December 17th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Alice Gomez

Alice was born on October 21, 1943 in Austin, Texas and comes from a long line of Austinites, which includes seven generations and whose ancestry includes French, German, Spanish, and northern Indigenous peoples of Texas. In the 1960's, Alice attended Antioch College in Austin, Texas. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Social Work. During the 1960's and 1970's, she worked for SER (Service Employment and Redevelopment, 1964) Jobs for Progress. She worked to help minorities in education, training, and in finding jobs. She was also an activist in the Chicano Civil Rights and Liberties Movement. During the 1980's, Alice worked with the City of Austin Special Projects in the Zaragosa and French Ligation neighborhoods. She helped many Hispanic Homeowners to restore their historic homes. Her office was housed in the Guadalupe Church (Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church), which was also located in the Zaragosa neighborhood. During the 1990's, Alice worked with the Center for Battered Women. She helped to rescue many women and their children from their abusers. She helped women in changing their lives for a better and safer future. Alice played a major role in helping with Women's Rights and Protections. Alice continued with her social work; even in her later years, she helped children and their families at Austin Community Nursery and Main Spring Schools until retirement age. Alice gave so much during her life in helping minorities, women, and children and families to achieve better lives and achieve their dreams. Alice was the same way when it came to her family. Family was everything to her. She was loyal, loving, and caring. She was the person that everyone in the family, friends included, came to for concerns, advice, and knowledge. She was very educated and a person with resources and contacts and so many friends. During the holidays, she was a wonderful hostess and could cook up a feast for the holidays, which she held the honor of doing during the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. She was also well known in the family for her turkey and dressing and caldo de res. She really had a way of bringing the beauty to family gatherings. Her special touches are always made with love. She made memories for all of her family to last a lifetime; the happiest memories, indeed. Alice Ledesma Gomez, age 80, lifelong resident of Austin, Texas, was born into Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She is reunited with her parents, Maurice and Julia Garcia Ledesma; her sister, Bertha Ledesma; her brother, David Ledesma; and her great-grandson, Izzak Dominik Perez. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her daughters, Annette Gomez Anderson, and her spouse, Randy, Laura Gomez; her grandchildren, Jason Anderson, Stephen Riojas, and his spouse, Rebecca, Katherine Anderson, Larissa Riojas, Rebecca Anderson, Ryan Rodriguez, and his spouse, Carmen; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Riojas, Casey Robinson, Charlie Perez, Ethan Robinson, Jacob Perez, Christian Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Anthony Riojas, Annabella Avila, Julianna Perez, Hayden Anderson, Scarlett Scott; her brother, Morris Ledesma; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends. Known for her vibrant spirit, she had a contagious laugh that resonated with those around her. Her life included many diverse interests, from her passion for work and sports (go Astros!) to her incredible culinary skills, her love for science fiction and crime novels, her enthusiasm for bowling and trips to the casino, and the simple pleasure of going for a drive. To know Teresa was to experience a love unlike any other. Her unwavering commitment to being there for others was a testament to her compassionate nature. If you needed her, no matter how busy, she’d be there in a heartbeat. Above all, Teresa's heart swelled with pride and joy for her beloved daughter, Brooke NASA, with whom she baked Christmas cookies each year as a highlight of their holidays. Teresa proudly served in the US Army with an Honorable Discharge. After a long, successful career at Southwestern Bell, she retired and went on to serve the local community, working for the United States Postal Service.
