Manuel V. Salinas, age 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born in Concepcion, Texas, on August 12, 1931, to Ester Villarreal and Gabino Salinas. Manuel married the love of his life, Ofelia Garza Salinas on May 27, 1955. They were blessed with 68 years together.
From the time he was young, Manuel was always known as a hardworking man. He worked at Hiawatha Oil & Gas in Benavides, Texas, from 1956 until 1964. He then worked for A. L. Edwards in Chapman Ranch, Texas, from 1968 to 1974 as a farmer. From 1975 to 1985, Manuel worked for Concrete Precasters and made the median barriers on the J. F. Kennedy Causeway. In 1985, he worked for Gillespie Farm in Petronila, Texas.
Through all of this hard work, Manuel found one of his true passions was farming. He also loved to sing with his longtime friends, Hector De Los Santos (Pirre), Fidel Cavazos, and Heberto Vasquez. More than anything, Manuel loved to spend time with his beloved family.
Manuel is reunited with his son, Robert O. Salinas; and his parents, Gabino Salinas and Ester Villarreal Salinas. He leaves his loving legacy to his beloved wife of 68 years, Ofelia Garza Salinas; their 4 surviving children, Anna Maria Salinas (Rick Pena), Janie (Jimmy) Tijerina, Manuel Salinas Jr. (Carmen Avila), and Norma (Joel) Pena; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at 9 AM, on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 AM that same day. Interment will follow immediately after services at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
