"Sandra Mae Taylor Our dear mother left her earthly body behind on May 5, 2023 to join God's eternal family in heaven. Born in 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi to Juanita & Moody Harvey, she was the second oldest of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alan & Bill Harvey. Left to cherish her memory are her children Jeanne and her husband Bruce Blair, James and his wife Jacque Taylor, Janet and her husband John Krolick, Joann and her husband Chris Gibson. As well as her loving sister Anita Mangum who was by her side daily for the past 20 years. She will also be remembered by her two brothers Ronald & Gordon Harvey. During Sandra's life she was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, James Tayor, Jr. Chad Taylor, Janice Simpson, Joseph Scearce, Christopher Schrum, Zachary Taylor, Amanda Scearce, Shannon Smith, Casey Schrum, Justin Taylor, Rachel Kadieux, Bruce Blair, Jr. , Carter Schrum, Sandy Mackley and Taylor Blair, as well as 26 great grandchildren. Sandra lived an extraordinary life. Raising 4 children was her greatest accomplishment, but her passions were many. In her youth she was known for her beautiful voice, even singing on the radio at one time. She was an active member of the church choir and sang as often as possible. You could hear her powerful voice above all others! She worked for the government for many years as a data entry clerk but needed something more challenging. After returning to further her education she became a Programmer for the Government. This new job would take her to Italy for (4) years where she traveled constantly across Europe. This adventure allowed her children and grandchildren to visit often and experience life through her eyes. Although traveling was a passion (she was always in her car going somewhere!) Sandra was also an accomplished seamstress (her children remember fondly the hand made clothes that she provided for them at the drop of a hat). She was also a skilled sculptor and doll maker. Many people still have her works in their home today. Her greatest accomplishment was learning to fly. Receiving her wings as a solo pilot gave her so much joy. She joined the Civil Air Patrol and was present on multiple SARCAP and REDCAP missions. Sandra was one of the kindest, funniest and loyal people you could know. You were blessed to call her friend. We were blessed to have called her mother! Visitation will take place on Thursday May 11th at 10:00 am followed by an 11:00 service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 1115 Cherokee Road, Portsmouth, 23701. Burial will take place directly afterwards at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. "
