On August 23, 2023 Sandra Pushkin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Sandra is survived by her devoted daughters, Stacey (Raymond) Klebanow and Amy Pushkin; her grandchildren Gabrielle Klebanow, Max Klebanow and Carly Jarkiewicz. She was predeceased by her loving husband Philip Pushkin and parents Melba and Herman Engel. Sandra was born in 1938 in Baltimore. She was a teacher at Howard Park Elementary and Bais Yaakov School for Girls. She enjoyed writing stories, creating beautiful works of art, golfing, vacations with family, and spending laugh-filled times with family and friends. She was known for her quick wit, sarcasm and always wanted to be remembered for making people laugh. Services to be held Tuesday August 29th at 1130am at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. Ronald P. Vogelsang Sr. , age 80 of Hampstead, MD died, Monday, October 30, 2023. at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD He was the spouse of the late Margaret Vogelsang (nee Fewster). Ronald was born July 31, 1943, in Baltimore City, Maryland, the son of the late Leo J. Vogelsang and the late Eleanor Vogelsang (nee Shealey). Mr. Vogelsang, as a member of the Maryland Army National Guard, was called to active duty during the civil disturbances in Baltimore in the Summer of 1968. He worked for over 30 years for the National Security Agency Central Security Service in the Cryptology department. He always enjoyed keeping himself busy. His interests included photography, bird watching, landscaping, gardening, walking, helping his neighbors and basically enjoying nature's beauty. He is survived by 2 Siblings: Sister Evelyn Frank of Randallstown, MD and Brother Eugene Vogelsang of Littlestown, PA, 3 Children: Son Ronald Vogelsang Jr. and his former wife Sarah Alouf of Sykesville, Son David Vogelsang and his wife Jessica Vogelsang of Manchester, and Daughter Michele Schuman and her husband Michael Schuman of Manchester. Also survived by 7 Grandchildren: Christine Urch her and her husband Ryan Urch, Colin Schuman, Grace Schuman, Connor Vogelsang, Caroline Vogelsang, Ivy Vogelsang and Luke Vogelsang and 2 Great Grandchildren: Scarlet Urch and Maxine Urch. Preceded in death by Sister Mary Greenwalt, Brother Leo Vogelsang and Brother Joseph Vogelsang. Services will be conducted at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD, 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School) on Saturday, November 4, 2023. There will be a Visitation from 2:00-3:00 PM and a Service at 3:00 PM. Following the Service there will be a Reception on the premises of Burrier-Queen Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at a later date at Holy Family Cemetery. Dorothy May Burgess, 90 of Chambersburg, PA Passed Monday, October 23, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living in Chambersburg after a brief illness Beloved wife of the late Robert Eugene "Gene" Burgess Born, January 13, 1933 in Herwood, MD the daughter of the late Emory G. Snyder and Mary Margaret (Wilt) Snyder. She was the 11th child born out of 13 children to her parents. She married Gene on April 15 1951 and they were married for 59 years before he passed in 2010. Together they had 2 children. Dorothy loved the Lord. She enjoyed going to church on Sundays and reading her Bible. She had a very strong faith. Her passion was for the Lord and her family. She loved her husband ,children and grandchildren, her parents and all of her siblings and nieces and nephews. Everyone loved her. During her younger years she was a factory worker at Fairchild's. She Later she became a greeting card merchandiser/stocker, a job which she really enjoyed. She was a kind, nurturing daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmom, and aunt. She loved going on outings with her sisters, and frequently hosting them for lunch. She was well known for her huge Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She also enjoyed making beautiful craft baskets. Devoted -mother of Deborah Fox (David) and Linda Disque (Kenneth) Dear grandmother of Jennifer Taylor, Dustin and Michael Fox. Dearest great-grandmother of Colin, Brealynn, Alexander Taylor. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Neelima Thakur, 69, of Begusarai India, passed away peacefully and with exceptional grace on October 20, 2023. She was born June 14, 1954, to Binay Kumar Sinha and Saraswati Sinha. She was the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who is survived by her husband, Arbind; daughters, Shruti and Richa; son, Kinshuk; son-in-laws, Rajesh and Rahul; daughter-in-law, Atmika; and grandchildren, Shreya, Stuti, Saksham, Richeek and Anahita. Neelima had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation with great ease, and her love, warmth, grace and compassion was felt by everyone around her. As an adaptive home maker, she would never budge under any circumstances and made the wellbeing of her family her priority. She focused on providing her husband and children with the best life possible without worrying about herself. She was truly a noble soul who would spread love to everyone near and far. Her favorite thing was to host family and friends and cook for everyone. She loved watching old Bollywood movies and shopping. Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all she knew. Marjorie Freebourn 2-15-1940: With deep sorrow, we announce that our dear mother, Marjorie Ann Deffenbaugh Freebourn, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 12th after battling cancer for many years and more intensely for the past 8 months. She was born in Uniontown, PA to her parents Clinton and Edna Deffenbaugh on February 15, 1940. Most of her 83 years of life were lived in the Erie area. Throughout her life, she performed many roles including homemaker, secretary, nurse's aide, school bus driver, and waitress, but most of us will remember her as the best mom, sister and friend ever. Her life's desire was to be remembered as someone who loved God and loved people. She sought to do God's will and to care for ALL people. She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses; Jeffery Bradford, Dawn Bradford Pickett, Mark Bradford, Michelle Bradford Hooper and Bonnie Bradford Platz; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and her 2 sisters; Carolyn Carner and Sandra Feidler. She loved to do all kinds of crafts, especially quilting. Her hands were never idle; always knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, cooking or quilting. She belonged to the Hands All Around Erie Quilt Guild and was a member of Millcreek Community Church. Throughout her life, she was a part of a church and served in many children's ministries even into her 70's. She was a prayer warrior and loved reading and studying the Bible. One of her favorite passages that she lived by was First Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. " Her primary desire was to see all of her loved ones again in heaven. Please join us in celebrating the life of love she lived on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Millcreek Community Church in Erie PA. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm and the Celebration Memorial service will follow from 3-4 pm. We want to give a special thanks to all of you who showered our mom with meals, visits, flowers, encouraging text messages, calls and a constant flow of cards. Megan Branthover Bates, a beloved partner, mother, sister, aunt, friend and resident of Woodbine, MD passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was 52. She was cherished and much loved by her partner in life, Doug Baum. Born on April 24th, 1971, Megan was raised in Damascus, Maryland and was the third of four daughters of the late Creighton and Kathleen Branthover. Megan is survived by her loving daughter, Madelyn (Maddie) Bates, her sisters Sharon Branthover, Kristin Smrkovski and Susan Branthover, as well as her brother in-laws, Scott Smrkovski and Alex Barros. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew: Alea Baily, Cole Baily, Emalie Jaramillo and Alexa Barros. Megan's legacy is one of deep love for family and friends and a reputation for having a huge heart at every stage of her life. She took immense pride in her daughter Maddie and her many accomplishments, especially Maddie's athletic ability to play a D1 sport in college. Megan was an ardent fan of country music and The Washington Football Team. She found joy in the company of her beloved yellow lab, Bubba. Her infectious sense of humor leaves a mark on all of us that know her. Cherished memories of Megan will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends. James Richard Burdette 76 passed away peacefully on Friday October 13th at home after a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 20, 1947 in Howard county, Maryland to the late Emory Warfield Burdette and Dorothy Mae Linton. James was an Air Force veteran who served during Vietnam. He was a jack of all trades. He drove long and short haul tractor trailers and owned his own truck. He then worked in a trucking office as dispatcher, before moving on to work numerous county jobs before he retired. He had a passion for service. He served as primary teacher, scout leader among many other roles in his church while supporting his wife and two sons. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1971. Along with being a devoted husband and father he also served in the Washington D. C. Temple for many years. James Richard Burdette is survived by his wife of 53 yrs Dorothy Louise Buhl and Son Richard Emory Burdette. grandchildren Richard Andrew Burdette, Zac Guarango, Savannah Roe Burdette, James Warfiled Burdette, Amy Robertson, and Amanda Boatswain. Great-grandchildren James Ezekiel Burdette, Akyra Boatswain and Luca Guarango. Also survived by Patsy Kerrington and husband Jeff, Betty Lou, Robert Burdette and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son James Jeffery Burdette, sisters Jo-Ann Burdette and Nancy Myers.
