Samuel E. "Junebug" Bailey, Jr., age 48, of Phoenix, Az. passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at his home. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 3pm, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Phoenix Funeral and Cremations, 1327 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix. Samuel was born to Samuel E. Bailey, Sr. and Dorothy Lewis on August 22, 1970 in Los Angeles, Ca. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served aboard the USS Peleliu (LHA5). He is survived by his father and step-mother, LuElla Batteast Bailey of Maricopa, Az; stepsister, Samone Barnes of Lancaster, Ca; niece, Jasmine Mims of California; aunts Patsy Kirk of California, Wavie Rawls of Louisiana Deloris Embry of Kansas, Helen Green of Illinois, Barbara Mayes of Mississippi and Mary and Maggie Bailey of Mississippi; uncles, Houston Bailey, Sr. of Mississippi and A.C. Bailey of Tennessee; cousins Brenda Rawls, Tanya Kirk, Viva Young and Lakisha Swindell, all of California and Kenny Crow and Derrick Lewis of Arizona. Samuel also leaves behind special friends Anita and Ken in California as well as numerous other family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lewis Bailey; paternal grandparents, Houston Bailey and Maggie Delaney Bailey and maternal grandparents, Charles Lewis and Gussie Shepard Lewis. Visitation for Samuel will be from 2pm until the funeral hour, Friday, February 1, 2019. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
