Obituary of Sam Sciancalepore Sciancalepore, Sergio "Sam" passed away on February 3, 2019. He was 94 years young. Sergio was born in Molfetta, Prov. di Bari, Italy and came to this country as a young man looking for the American dream, to marry, raise a family and live the good life. He was a Machine Operator for Accurate Box Co., Paterson for many years before retiring in 1986. Sergio loved listening to opera and dancing, as his idol was Fred Astaire. He was predeceased many years ago by his wife of 31 years, Amalia (nee Mancini), and leaves behind his children: daughters Mary Slaback and her husband Steve of Westerville, OH., Joann Ciervo of Montclair and son Joseph Sciancalepore and his wife Rosa of Wayne, six grandchildren: Eric, Clare, Emily, Jake, Gabriella and Nikolette, and great grandson, Vincent and his dearest friend of 10 years: Lani Kip of Spring Hill, FL. Also surviving is his brother Cosmo Sciancalepore of Wayne and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by six siblings. While Sergio spent most of his life in Paterson, he retired to Spring Hill, FL. for 30 years having recently returned to New Jersey. Sergio loved giving hugs and his favorite expression was "BE GOOD, DO GOOD, EAT GOOD and LOVE PEOPLE." He also loved the beach, traveling the world and enjoying his daily glass of wine. Family was very important to him as he would also say "FAMILY IS NUMERO UNO." Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa, on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gerard R.C. Church, Paterson at 10:00 AM. Cremation will be private. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. In his memory, do a random act of kindness and hug often.
